The Broker always cuts you, the listener, the best funky deal in town. Here he has rustled up a new improved version of City Life. Where the first part was an upbeat Starsky & Hutch at the Loft jam, part two slows things down for a lazy, hazy organ-led 70s funk headnodder. Elsewhere "Back To Where I Belong" features a cool, loose, backbeat, edgy retro riffs and soulful diva vocals, "Gave It To Me" is all trippy drum rolls, looping bass and wah-wah guitars. Lastly "Only One Night" is still retro but less about the grooves and more about soulful songwriting.
