Review:
B Ju returns on the excellent Squelch & Clap with his most intricately structured collection of tracks to date. The smooth lounge tones of "Bird Call" recall the experimental R&B of James Blake, as neon synth lines snake around rattling beats, while the smoother tones and pitched vocals of "Cry Wolf" and the rolling garage styles of "Taurus" recall Jacques Greene's finely sculpted productions. Remixes come from 123mrk, whose version of "Kry Wolf" adds new layers to the original's shuffling groove, reducing the vocals to mere slices, and Tete De Tigre, who turns in a heavily stripped back version of "Taurus".

Review:
First debuted on a recent Sound Pellegrino podcast, Bambounou's "Alpha" has been hotly anticipated for a while now, and it's definitely been worth the wait. The French producer and Youngunz star loads some compressed kicks and heavy-gliding synths into the mix on "Alpha", while "Dock Request" rides an ever-changing bass arpeggio and some brilliantly disjointed drum patterns. "Heroic Requests" brings out a heavily nocturnal, stripped-down Detroit sound into play and "Divided By Zero" rounds off the EP with a dubby, ghost-house rouser that's simply gripping and hugely addictive. This release comes replete with mixes of all four tunes from Teeth, Lunice, Darling Farah & Ikonika.

Review:
Making the leap to ClekClekBoom Recordings after emerging through Sound Pellegrino, Bambounou is fast making a name for himself with a raw take on garage dynamics that pares the two-step down to bare elements that smack hard, especially on the huge, string-drenched pressure of "Night". "Brawl" meanwhile gets a touch more hectic in the jagged groove and manic vocal chops, although the subtle synth touches cool off the oddball madness just enough. For all the primal production values, Bambounou clearly knows how to execute ideas with a maturity that belies his experience to date.

Review:
Exclusive to Juno, this is some heavy and very fresh Raggastep, with enough bass to choke a horse. Baobinga's worked across a range of styles and genres, from electro to drum and bass, but this tune strays into funky territory, and could be worked into a range of sets. The Untold mix brings a lot more glitch, and keeps building to something that works the heads as well as the floor.

Review:
After seriously impressing with the debut sounds of Andy Mac last time round, Bristol imprint Punch Drunk step it up a notch further with this monumental release from Bass Clef. The local hero turned Hackney import graces our shelves with his first release in 2011 and it's totally been worth the wait, unveiling the rather glorious sounds of "Rollercoasters Of The Heart". There's an undeniably throwback nod to the euphoric days of rave gone by thanks to the swirls of lysergia tinged stabs and stretched out vox, but it's how Bass Clef marries them to a crisp groove of rolling sub bass and crisp off kilter house drums that has us hooked. Complementing this, "So Cruel" brings the mood down markedly, revolving around a half time swagger and bouncing subs dipped in purple menace which are the perfect foil for the requisite looped up chanteuse. It's the searing synth flourishes that jettison through the track without announcement that lift "So Cruel" to somewhere near the title track in our affections.

Review:
Hailing from Canada, Bassmynt is yet another producer to add to the long line of Canadians doing great things in the world of bass music. Opener "Saturn" perfectly encapsulates his style; mixing the swing of garage, the forward thrust of solid house and the punch of techno, its characterised by its piercing stabs, clipped vocals and thudding beats. "Your Secret" takes a somewhat gentler approach combining his signature elements with a rush of warm chords, while the descending arpeggio and cavernous grime aesthetics of "Pitch Fork" sound like some lost Night Slugs release. Remix support provided by Visionn, who transforms Saturn into a wiry rhythm machine, and Silvermayne, who delivers a brittle footwork version.

Review:
This newie from Baxta is a little different to previous Cheap Thrills releases. While the UK funky/garage/B-more/tropical fusions on offer do come loaded with heavy drums and gut-wrenching bass, there's also plenty of subtlety to the production and some choice melodies and ear pleasing sounds (see the title track and the touchy-feely breakdowns of "Skyline"). Recommended.
