Review:
Dopefish releases two new tracks from Egonoise alongside two of his own remixes of "The UK Sound." "Kick Da Music" and "The UK Sound" are two deep and soulful tracks that wobble their way through to Dopefish's two upfront and fresh remixes. A great release to introduce anyone to the sound of Dopefish or Egonoise, this is a must have!

Canadian Egyptrixx drops his debut release on Night Slugs. Treading the line between house, techno, dubstep and experimental, "The Only Way Up" features some seriously twangy keys which are pulled and groped in every direction yet somehow emerge as a beautiful melody. "Everybody Bleeding" meanwhile takes the twang factor to new extremes, building a catchy hook from the key stabs - pure genius. On the flip we are treated to a remix from Hyperdub golden girl Ikonika, who transforms the title track into a melodic afterhours jam exuding sweetness and hope, while Brooklyn DJ Kingdom turns "Everybody Bleeding" into a serious dubstep workout with some serious R&B vibes and sub bass.

Continuing to bring serious crossover heat to Somethinksounds, Eliphino is pulling no punches on his latest emission for the fledgling label. "Vrybdy" rides on a chunky, swaggering stomp that's just broken enough to move beyond being straight house music, while the samples come looping in with a barrel-load of hip-hop attitude. It's a thoroughly functional belter that will slot ably in between all manner of contemporary electronics. "Don't Make Sense" meanwhile gets all raggamuffin in its disposition, busting out the soca break and some cheeky MC licks for a steaming slice of summertime rowdiness.

Review:
Mancunian party promoters Hoya:Hoya's first dalliance with the murky business of releasing records was memorable; Lone, Krystal Klear and label boss Illum Sphere all chipped in with killer cuts. For Volume 2 they call on an equally talented trio, namely Lorn, Eliphino and Ras G, to provide an eclectic range of tune's that nicely represent the party's open-minded ethos. Eliphino's "Don't Try Be" calls on an ethereal vocal snippet to act as the sonic centrepiece while synths sway around it with an almost imperceptible hint of menace, while Brainfeeder alumni Lorn drops the epic stutter of "Stranger" - our pick of the three tracks - and Ras G and The African Space Program tune into some rattling sub bass on the appropriately named riddim "Speaker Smash".

Palms Out Sounds continue their quest to showcase the brightest unheard talent with the Mysterious EP from Copenhagen based producer ELOQ, otherwise known as August Fenger. Channelling a similar kind of technicolour ADD energy as Hudson Mohawke and Rustie, ELOQ creates the kind of soundscapes most could barely even comprehend let alone imagine. "Why Don't You" takes elements of US R&B production into its sprawling vista, combining rough analogue sounds with skittering drums, while "Starstruck" utilises a more straight up hip-hop beat and euphoric chords. "Mysterious" meanwhile fills in its slow-moving funk with rippling arpeggios and rapid snare rolls, while "Shine" offers the EP's most dancefloor focused moment, with sugar-coated vocals riding high on a rolling house beat. Remix support comes in the form of three reworkings of "Why Don't You"; Lazer Sword, whose superb remix keeps the structural hyperactivity of the track but resets it as a brooding Detroit electro classic, Lucid, whose rasping jackhammer bass takes it into dark new territory, and Norrit, whose restrained yet shimmering version fuses Detroit techno and garage rhythms.

Review:
The icy demeanour of Emika's music finds another outlet with this single, and once again her deadpan vocals hover amidst ominous surroundings. Both original tracks have their own unique slant on contemporary beats, while the textures and melodies exude a Tim Burton kind of darkness. It's a seductive take on pop music that deserves a huge audience but would undoubtedly scare them off. On remix duties, Brandt Brauer Frick opt for a tracky 4/4 workout, while Kyle Hall omits the bass from his skippy effort. DJ Rashad and DJ BMT smack it hard with a footwork stomper that shows what the genre can do with interesting sound sources.

Review:
Midlander James Vine, aka Enigma Dubz, deals in tough, straight up, party-rockin' beats. Now he's back following a recent split EP with Sub Antix with his own solo release and it's a banger. "Fresh" features filthy post dubstep chugging bass and a messy 2-step swing. ""What Must I Do" is all heavy wobble craziness and an infectious hands-in-the-air female vocals. Finally things end on a head-nodding, sinister vibe with the menacing electro-dub of "Without You By My Side".

Review:
It's not every day we come across underground bass artists named after an actress in a 1980s soap, Dynasty, but it takes all sorts as they say. Musically this is seriously next level stuff: "I Can't Hide" is twisted and contorted tribal house with half time breaks and a killer cowbell. "No Way Back" is similarly bonkers but drowns everything is neon synths. Remixers include The Druid Cloak (sounds like a Brazilian carnival stumbling into a rave), Kresy (slow, emotional house) and Rohan (even deeper still; adding melancholic keyboards and cut up vocals for what's possibly the stand-out track).
