Review:
Funky moombahton klaxon! Lucano gets his hands on a delightful heel-kicking Cuban sample and proceeds to get his freak on with a tight percussive drum pattern, rainbows of silly bleeps and even a few horns and whistles. In a word: lively. The remixes are all rather smart, too. Saur goes for a full front Favela smasher, Ckrono & Slesh opt for a half step vibe, Milangeles goes for a proper slo-mo stomp and Arge Numa Crew take the energy levels to maximum. If you happen to be playing at any carnivals this summer this is a must!
FREJ LE VIN feat ASHIBAH

Review:
Copenhagen-based Frej Le Vin describes his sound as "deep and jacking", with US garage, hip-hop and G-funk influences. "The More I See You", his first single for Pole Position, demonstrates some of these stylistic inspirations, coming on like a sun-bright mix of deep house, nu-disco and soulful garage. With Ashibah's vocal to the fore, it's a pleasing listen. It's backed by a huge remix package featuring no less than six re-rubs. Of these, it's the deep garage shuffle of Marco Twellmann's two mixes that most impresses, though Frej's own 6am Sunday Mix, an exercise in twinkling two-step gorgeousness, is also lovely.

Review:
Formerly of gonzoid ravers Guns and Bombs, Johnny Love is back (away from his Deathface alias) on T & A with this excellent EP of tropical electro blasters. Title tune "The Switch" will make fans of LOL Boys, Mele and Canblaster giddy with its heavily warped vocals and insistent kicks, while "Are You Ready" is a +130bpm riser that sounds like Afrobeat gone Dutch. On a more Latin tip, "Sonora" keeps a cha-cha sample buried in the mix until halfway through when it's dropped perfectly as the start of a never-ending build. Perfect stuff for tropical rave fans who like their tunes at a furious tempo.

Review:
Lisbon producer Lake Haze pops his UTTU cherry here with two classy forays into the world of his beloved UK garage. The boy's done good with these new additions to the label's revered catalogue - "Late Night Trip" is a stomping 4 x 4 wobble belter wrapped in typically trippy, bleepy melodies. However, with its laser blasts, epic synthlines and heavy tropical rhythms, "Need For Speed" ain't just Tom Cruise's favourite, it's ours too!

Review:
New on Slime Recordings, Birmingham bass and UKG-head Laney steps up with two very fine modern steppers. "Let It So" builds itself around some very trigger-happy snares and half-time claps while echo-pella shots cut through over some minimal subs. On the (digital) flip, "Old George" comes in on a tougher agenda thanks to some heavy kicks and hand drum interplay, while the topline melodies are given a woozy and delirious feel.

Review:
Wow! Are people looking back with rose-tinted glasses to 1995 already? Well at least this 'musical magpie' is only borrowing ideas and sounds rather than copying wholesale! Possibly a bit darker than his previous releases this EP features dubby UKG ("1995"), glitchy, post-dubstep ("Hypno", "Fallen") and even a bit of wobble-heavy UKF ("Roots").

Review:
Known to many already from Maya Jane Coles' DJ Kicks mix, this crisp and moody tune from Leeds producer Last Magpie finally drops on Hypercolour's sister label Losing Suki and demands checking out - from the washes of echo-textures on the title tune, to the minimal and metronomic "Leeds Syndrome" and the sparkling Detroit-angled "U See".

Review:
UK producer Latcha tells it like it is: he simply produces 'anything club music based: house, tech, garage, bass ...plus anything in between'. We couldn't have put it better ourselves, and this EP, his first for Slime, contains a smidgeon of all these flavours. "Viable" is a remarkable voodoo percussion odyssey complimented by what sounds like reversed panpipes. "Call It That" on the other hand, is deep house with a garage drum kit and Orbital-style echoey synth pad melodies. Inventive stuff!

Trust the Brazilians to give tech-house a sexy makeover. This eighth (count 'em) compilation from Sao Paulo's Lo Kik Records is about as sensual and fun as tech-house gets. It's full to bursting with the sort of gently uplifting, tech-tinged grooves that offer a sunnier alternative to the 'by numbers' fare often served up by European labels. The artists involved are hardly household names - Paolo Mojo is about the most famous - but that almost adds to the excitement. For maximum fun, check out the tracks from G Castro & Truatti, Freakslum, Rafael Noronha and Xiaha Troden.

Review:
Brooklyn trio Lemonade go all steel drums on us with "Lifted", a dubby slow mo shaker perfect for the summer evenings - it's the remixes we are more interested in though and golf claps to True Panther for some diligent A&R'ing here. Blunted Robots boss Shortstuff drops a remix that's all chopped up vocals, kitchen sink percussion and uptempo funky claps drenched in glorious bass stabs. Ghosts On Tape employs a similar tactic creating a crazed dub step groove with schizoid synths. Hackman keeps the vocal intact and ups the tempo for a nice summer groove which is matched in the bliss stakes by Twin Shadow's chugging nu disco remix. Le Chev introduces an ethereal synth pop element to proceedings and Gallic types Qoso drop a pulsating cowbell heavy techno bomb.
