Review:
Lover of all things juke, Chicago's Chrissy Murderbot has plenty to say on the subject and he makes his feelings well known on this latest joint for Halocyan records. "Bionic Penguins" kicks things off with a plush and melodic juke chop up that moves through sophisticated chord progressions for the arpgeggiator to roam around in, while "Friendship" goes down a slightly darker route peppered with hefty amounts of bleep. Sumsun turns "Bionic Penguins" into an emotionally strained UK Funky joint, leaving it to Legowelt to create a serene funk of robotic melodics with lashings of acid and some serious Balearic sass.

Review:
A Chicago native who's been slowly extolling the virtues of juke music over the last few years, Chrissy Murderbot's Women's Studies release dovetails perfectly with Planet Mu's growing interest in footwerk and juke. However despite the creepy, detuned footwerk opener "Break U Off", it's hard to categorise this excellent album. Jammin Gerald and DJ Funk influences combine with a sped-up sample of Dayton's "The Sound Of Music" on single "Bussin Down", while crunk rhymes appear on "Bump Uglies" and there's Major Lazer-esque tropi-pop on "Pelvic Floor" too. Old-school Planet Mu fans will also get a kick out of the furious "Jiggle" - just another strand of this fascinatingly diverse album.

Review:
The fledgling Cool Kid Music return with the debut release from the promising David Marston. "What We've Got" is the perfect track for the dying days of summer, filled with minimal garage beats, smooth melodies and vocals that have been shattered into a thousand glassy pieces. "Top Off" is the real killer though, a smooth piece of rubbery future soul with an R&B sensibility that recalls the devastating jams of Jacques Greene rolled into an unexpectedly threadbare sensibility.

Review:
Des McMahon is a bass producer from Philadelphia who is currently setting things ablaze in the US right now. This new autobiographical EP from the self-proclaimed "ginger beat wizard" boasts five original productions that are sure to boost his current ascent even further. "Gringo Juice" is big-room stuff - a chunky moombahton riddim with hysteria-inducing melodies, an absolutely bonkers breakdown and even some cheeky, "Good Life" stabs. Other highlights include the trancier "Albino Ass Slap", the spaced-out dubstep of "Hallucinations" and Rex Riot's unique take on the blissed out "The Come Down".
