Review:
Although Leon Vynehall is one of an increasing number of producers bringing the influence of bass music styles into the deep house formula, the Mauve EP stands apart from the rest of the crowd - the title track is anthemic stuff, mixing Detroit and Bristol house styles in just the right quantities with hands in the air piano, soulful vocals and quietly bubbling bass. "Picture Frame" is a much slower end of the night number which has echoes of classic Balearica, while "Homage" opens with subtle cut-up rave stabs, rippling percussion and moody spoken word intro, before erupting into life with devastating subs which catch you totally off guard. House? Bass? It doesn't matter - the only sure thing is that Vynehall is someone to keep an eye on.

Review:
Founded in 1995, Planet Mu has gone on to become a force in electronic music, setting the benchmark high and releasing some of the scene's seminal and groundbreaking artists. Blending house, techno, dubstep, hip-hop and all the grey areas in between that have come to dominate the sonic landscape of recent years, Planet Mu have never been afraid to depart from the status quo. Marking the first release of 2011 for Mike Paradinas' lauded label, 14 Tracks From Planet Mu collates tracks from some of the new artists to have graced the Mu airwaves over the past year. There are four exclusives in there, for those that like it hot off the press, and some familiar names like Oriol, Solar Bears, Floating Points, FaltyDL, Ikonika and Boxcutter. Superb stuff.

Review:
Hot on the heels of Ministry Of Sound's killer future bass album, we now get a further 66 'speaker blowing basslines' that we're sure to get familiar with over the next few months. Highlights include Disclosure's warped version of the Artful Dodger' "Please Don't Turn Me On", the sparse soul of Woz's "Spoons" mix, Huxley's jackin take on Maxxi Soundsystem's "Stella's Way" and Wideboy's bonkers electro-disco anthem "Stars".

Review:
Having cut their teeth on tour with likes M.I.A., and counting Steve Aoki and Diplo as fans, Top Billin are on fire. The intention behind their new compilation, compiled by DJ Flipperi, was to present 'simply great music' irrespective of genre, but the cover shot of a pirate skeleton and parrot in a techno tunnel can only mean one thing: tropically tinged bass! We've got 11 top quality tracks here, ranging from the haunted garage of Volta Cab's "Make You Mine", to the minimal vocal and claps play of "Boccia" by Mieux! via the R 'n' G(oth) of Classi Assi's "Always Got My Back and the perhaps slightly cruel, crunk-funk warping of Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's "Summertime" by Wolfhaus. Boom!

Review:
New from Russian speed-garage label Bass Machine comes one of their biggest compilations to date. With producers like SoundBwoy Addiction, Koolier, J. Jean and Generator all on board, you can expect 17 itchy tracks stuffed full of thick, pre-wobble basslines and sharp hats and snares. Generator's remix of Agzamoff's "Badbwoy" in particular showcases the label's tough sound, as cosmic pads swirl over a '90s-recalling garage groove.

Review:
Not only does this 18-track album promise an excellent selection of music, but the accompanying one-hour mixed version is mixed by DJ Kumatozz, who weaves the lush, blissed out sounds seamlessly together for the ultimate listening experience. Brought to you on the Bass Machine imprint, expect spaced out atmospherics, sonorous vocals and deftly placed beats to predominate, alongside some more pumping 4/4 beats to get the party started. The album kicks off with It Was Ted - "Crush" and takes us through such moments as Pledge - "Be Alrite (Arrows Of Time remix)" with is ticking beats and hypnotic rhythms, to SoundBwoy Addiction - "Jungle Sess (Private Mix)" which takes things a bit more streetwise with a clear grime influence. A lovely array of sounds are on offer here - be sure to check out the mix as well.

Review:
Terry Hooligan's fledgling Bass = Win continue their relentless multi-genre assault on the dancefloor in 2012, ushering a fine cast of talent for this heavy duty compilation Bass = Win Electro Vol 1. Perennial bass bin botherers Baobinga & ID open proceedings with a typically incendiary remix of Gella's "Twinkle", while Sir Hooligan himself makes an appearance with a great remix of Prato's "Keeps Ya Moving" which flickers between dubstep indebted electro and a classic break. Rico Tubbs mans the mid section, Lazy Rich and The Mighty Fools go toe to toe in the battle for the most outlandish remix of the Tubb man (the latter just shade it in case you were wondering). Stupid Fresh indulge in some pitch shifting madness with "Do The Dog" and Submerse ends this release with a bang on the 136bpm face screwer "Railgun".
