How U Feel - (4:54) 132 BPM
from $1.49
Review: For their latest release, Project Allout promise 'pure fire' and 'real big UK garage and bass' from Notion. Well, they've not let us down with Notion stepping up to deliver three tracks guaranteed to smash dancefloors apart from here to Timbuktu. The title track features moody keyboard melodies, sharp 4x4 goodness and even a catchy pseudo rap. "Skankz" brings the bleeps, rave pads and big vocals for some wobbly garage and "How U Feel" mixes speed garage, house and urban vibes for a total sizzler.

Review: Jump-starting his musical escapades with an EP for Four40, Skelecta makes his return and lands utterly upright on the UK's 877 with something of an anthem in the making. "Big Bad Wolf" is a collaborative effort with the one like Hybrid Theory and the duo have cooked up quite the jacker, where Dubfire-style percussion meets warped vocal shots and a militant groove. "Yuandai" is considerably more UK in nature thaks to its stepping rhythm, and "Shells", too, takes care of the grime vibes. Top stuff!

Glacier - (5:28) 136 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release

Review: After last year's On My Mind release with Flava D, Royal T is back on Butterz with another sure shot of grimey pressure. As well as the instrumental beats, "Shotta" comes in two versions voiced by P Money and Footsie respectively with very different results. P Money brings a fierce and fiery delivery that pushes the already-hype track into dangerous levels of liveliness, while Footsie takes a more restrained approach with no less presence in his flow. Aside from those show-stealers, Royal T gets to stretch his legs on playful garage house interlude "Limbo" and the adventurous climes of "Glacier" with its melting pot of influences feeding into a truly diverse jam.

Review: Champion's Formula fam come correct on this expertly curated 15-track exploration into the future realms of bottom heavy music. With exclusive cuts and versions firing from all the label's most consistent contributors, it covers all relative corners creatively; from Killjoy's gameshow grime "Turnt Ones VIP" to the chiselled, sinewy two-steps of Terror Danjah & Zed Bias's "Telepathy" via the sheet metal snares on Flava D's "Break", this collection goes further than representing a forward-thinking imprint but also documents exactly where bass music is heading in the future. Grand prix business.

Review: Hailing from unlikely new bass capital Denver, Colorado, Ultra Bass have already made quite an impression internationally and to mark their 10th release they have unveiled another label compilation. Boasting '19 monster house and garage tracks straight from underground scenes across the globe', this collection really does perfectly capture the temperature of the scene right now. Highlights include the merciless big bass house steamroller "Feel It", the tropical doom-house tip of "2015 Crew 4 Real" and the bonkers hypo-step of "Magical".

Review: Here we have two new sizzling bass bangers from Bristol's future garage hero James Mannion. He doesn't pull any punches either, with "Come Down" featuring growling bass, ghetto beats and catchy synth riffs, and the sparse title track featuring harpsichord style melodies and a hip-house style rap. Remix-wise, PVC presents some skippy, wobbly 2-step, and Crown Duels delivering the jewel in the EPs crown - a schizophrenic, hybrid of scattered beats, stop/start rhythms, eccentric bass and, of course, that rap.

Like Thiz - (5:15) 125 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release
from $1.49
Review: Amsterdam production unit U Know The Drill first surfaced last year with some rough and ready contributions to split releases on Slapfunk and Music Is Love that evidently impressed UTTU lynchpin DJ Haus. Off The Chain finds the pair debuting on Hot Haus with a two track of rowdy, dressed to sweat house action that sits nicely alongside recent efforts on the label from Steve Murphy and Palace. The title track shamelessly embraces the art of the banger with some absolutely devilish sub bass manoeuvres, whilst "Like Thiz" initially feels a bit more restrained. Give it a minute or so and the Dutch pair unleashes a killer rave drop that ramps up the overall intensity.

Review: Soul Rebels is the alias Soul Revolution Records boss, Mike Millrain. Here his recent sleek future-garage jam, Being With You, gets the remix treatment. First up is Millrain himself, who takes the track into lush and deep soulful UKF. Next Martin Depp keeps it deep too, adding vintage New York garage vibes for good measure before Large Joints go all out spacey 2-step for an EP highlight.

Review: London's fearsome rave reveller, Spekktrum, doesn't beat around the bush discussing his sound: "I make bassy stuff," he says. Spekktrum doesn'tdilly dally when it comes to production either, and "Babylon Bass" is a straight to the point, wobble-heavy reggae-step jam. For those wanting a little spice, the VIP mix is gets the breaks out for a dubbed-out assault. Elsewhere Dr Cryptic turns the bass to 11 and injects a lethal dose of 4x4 flow. Meanwhile, Negativ delivers a housed-up rework and Spookz closes with a UKF sizzler.

Review: To mark the tenth release from Sheffield's finest, Chip Butty, the label have paired up Little Mesters and Dr Cryptic and strictly instructed them to deliver some 'hard 4x4 bass music'. Well they've come out fighting, albeit with some sparks flying, with six tracks spread over the EP. LM highlights includes the horror-bass pounder "Buzzin" and the snarling 4x4 prowler "Work". Our faves of the good Doctor include the demented disco meltdown "C-Word" and the end-of-the-world fuzz-out "Ph Derkhead". Dark, in a good way.

Review: Huge rolling beats and big soulful vocals from Sharlene Hector take centre stage in this stadium-sized anthem from Dr Meaker and Cappo D. Kicking off with the extended mix to get things started, "Freaks" then takes a quick change of direction with a hard house cut from Low Steppa totally changing up the dynamics. Then, a nosedive into deeper waters with June Miller switches up the pace once again, devastating the chorus which hard-drilling bass and slamming percussion. It's hard drum and bass perfection. Did you expect anything less? Finally, My Don channels electro with an atmospheric electronica inspired redesign of the original. Pick up all four and challenge the dancefloor to something different

Review: Hot on the heels of "Artillery" on Four40, Birmingham bass-buster Tuff Culture delivers an equally dark and distinctive cut on Project Allout. A strutting 4/4 garage joint coded with sacks of space and slinky subs, it utilises gangster-style synth horns with a subtle funk effect. Remix-wise Enigma Dubz takes us back to the dubstep source where those horns sounds even more aggy and dramatic while Dr Cryptic lets rip with a firing, uptempo 4/4 cut that sits somewhere between bassline house and juke. Hench heaven.

Relate (Sly-One remix) - (5:03) 85 BPM

Review: Bristol bassman Bromley steps up to 877 with two originals that purr with understated, techy menace. Spacious and just the right amount of twisted, fans of Mak & Pasteman, Wen and My Nu Leng will instantly connect:. "Related" is a two-step hummer that ploughs through the low end soundcape with a well-oiled mechanical flow, while "Check" comes complete with pads so icy they could reverse global warming. Remix-wise Hostage adds a steppy, militant swing and additional bass gurgles while Sly-One adds a whole new line of synth textures before stripping the vibe right back to its bare rhythmic bones. This will relate with a lot of dancefloors and DJs right now.

Review: When Plastician dropped one of Kiri (Leeds) and Grafta's (Newcastle) new collaborations live on Rinse FM, he had to confess that he had no idea how to categorize the other worldly sounds the pair have created. The two tracks featured on this debut EP are a fresh assault on the ears, mark our words! First up, we get the brooding menace of the title track which takes dubstep as it's starting block before letting rabid percussion out of it's cage. Next up, "Butterfly" knocks it out of the park with aggressive basslines, garagey beats creepy vox and doomy chords.

Review: The breaks/garage anthem that refuses to quit almost 15 years after its initial release, Zinc's "138 Trek" has always remained relevant through every party paradigm that's followed. Here Bingo Bass revisit its many charms and versions for those who had no use for the recent vinyl outings. We all know how the original and VIP flex, but you may have missed the GQ version that comes with a little added grime finish or the Zed Bias mix which takes us on a sassier, steppier UKG vibe. Some tunes mature like classic Aston Martins. This is one of them.

Review: Brummie producer/MC extraordinaire Preditah does the honourable thing with Craig David's finest moment; chopping up his memorable chant from 2000 and slapping him down over a bulbous bass house jam. Rewind material... Literally. Remix-wise a whole array of vibes await; Cahill get their mid-'90s prog twinkles on, Dexcell let fly with a murky timeless D&B roller, Dr Meaker go for a late '90s Full Cycle D&B vibe, Majestic gets an awesome future-G shuffle on while adding a little spooky dynamic in all the right places, Vanilla Ace and Dharkfunkh throw down a very cool, understated garage strutter while Wilfred Giroux looks towards the mid-2000s Get Physical / Made To Play type of jack. Rewind selectors!

Review: Keeping loyal to their own Four40 label, Midlands duo Hybrid Theory, return with the Mind Games EP; yet another slice of their forward-thinking, bass-heavy artillery. This time they're loaded with three powerful rounds with "Mind Games" leading the charge with its aggressively sassy and sweaty warehouse garage vibes. "0483" continues apace with some stripped back electro tinged wobble and finally the skippy bounce of "Screened" ends on tropical high. Bang!

Review: German techno titan Frederique is back as steely confident as always. He's all about the quality, not the quantity is our Fred, so we get just two tracks. They're not just any old tracks of course: both feature sleek, tough muscular production and are tailor made for making dancefloors move. "The Wormhole" takes a nasty hoover bass riff and whisks it up with some skippy, almost techy, UKG beats. "Mainstream" meanwhile, goes deep for sultry after hours moods with a subtle garage bounce.

Done Me Wrong by Mosca on Numbers Cue Track
Bax - (5:33) 134 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release
from $1.49
Review: The latest release from the Glaswegian imprint adds a further sheen of excellence in a year where Numbers has really knuckled down and concentrated on a schedule of multi faceted releases. Such has been the demand for Mosca's debut on the Numbers imprint, the London based producer cheekily took to touting advance DJ copies of Do Me Wrong via Facebook. Both tracks here are fully poised for the floor, priming a throwback Bassline / UK G swing dipped in a nowness from Mosca that's been evident on drops for Night Slugs and Fat City. Unusually, it's the B Side that's garnered the most attention, which is odd as "Done Me Wrong" is excellent, reigning in vintage female hollerations over clipping rhythms, swamping basslines and parping synths that pay homage to the classic "RIP Groove". Flipside, the more celebrated "Bax" is a dual assault on your senses, murky sub bass jabbing at your ribs, whilst the sweet cooing vocals whisper sweet nothings in your ears. All this is underpinned by a skipping mid 90s flex heavy on the neon stabs that has warehouse jam written all over it.

Review: Fat! Have compiled a collection of Foamo tracks which can only really be described as bangers. "Jookie" sounds like Jesse Rose's "Touch My Horn" on steroids, while "Sherlock" is what you could call 'filthy'. There's housier vibes on "Vibrations" and tear out dub on "Corridor" and for some bouncing Euro heat check out "Ocean Drive". Remix-wise "Sherlock" gets the full treatment of four reworks, with My Nu Leng breaking down the dirtiness of the original. Lather yourself in Foamo.

Review: In a bizarre twist of geographical fate, This Ain't Bristol is a hyped new label promoting the best underground UK club music....from their base in Germany! Their original Selections compilation made a lot of people sit up and listen, and now we have the follow up. More Selections sees the guys further combat what they call 'Berlin house' with 15 new slices of 'good vibes house', and highlights include quirky slammer "In My Mind", the cowbell and bass tag team of "Bring Me Down" and Nick Olivetti's weird-in-a-good-way lean, mean throbbing banger "Good Vibes".

Review: Boom! Project Allout come swiftly through with yet more half-step talent in the form of Frampster, an artist we know little to nothing about at the moment but who can certainly shake a bassbin like no other! The title track, as the name suggests, is a gun-toting grime jerker with a stop-start motion for total dancefloor destruction and head-nodding madness, while "Appletiser" takes the same stutter but adds in a heavier dosage of bass to the equation. The same goes for "Terminator" and " Yazoo", two evil-as-hell UK bullets for the goons.

Spend The Night EP by Conducta on Project Allout Cue Track
Falcon - (4:06) 140 BPM
from $1.49
Review: Chug factor set to stun: Conducta ups the tempo for this latest UKG slapper. Driven by thundering 4/4 drums, powered by squelchy bass tones and polished with classic ravey vocals, it's straight out of the best chapter of the UK garage playbook. Remix-wise Deadbeat dips the tempo but ups the filth, Killjoy goes militant on the beats and paranoid on the low end while Dubzta adds moody trappist sentiments to the mix. Also included is Conducta's "Falcon", a more uplifting, hook affair; the synths could be straight out of early 90s Detroit while the bass is straight out of early 00s London. Heavy.

Shades - (5:11) 125 BPM

Review: 'Ghetto bass' hero Herve (aka Joshua Harvey) has been releasing his bottom-heavy party bombs for almost ten years now. His latest missive on his own Cheap Thrills label is a split EP with Jay Robinson, where he gets two tracks and Robinson gets one (we never said it was an equal split!). Anyway, it's classic Herve all the way with "Doughnuts" featuring some fizzy honky tonk piano samples welded to some mid tempo 4x4 and "Everybody Hustle" being this totally slammin' wobble-house monster. Jay then dons his "Shades" for a poundingly good vocal heavy stomper. Total party fodder.

Whoa - (3:26) 125 BPM

Review: The commercially acclaimed Bill & Will finally drop their "Control The Night" monster on a tight three-tracker for the Stripes label. The main tune is a wobbled-out house number sitting somewhere between tech-house, breaks and dubstep. "Lighter" is a little smoother around the edges but nonetheless abrasive on the dancefloor, but it's "Whoa" which makes the limelight thanks to it bumpy basslines, broken arrangement and absolutely hummable rhythm. Cop 'em!

Review: Bristol's musical medicine man Dosage gets his ancient Greek guns out on "Adonis". Twisting the two-step template with a dash of spliced, diced, vocal snippery it's an emphatic document of where both UKG and Dosage are at right now. "Titan" follows with sugar-sweet rhythmic switches that flicker from 4/4 to two-step with the help of a very crafty Kathy Brown vocal sample slice-up. "Europa", meanwhile, chows down on a feast of breakbeats, treacle-thick subs and a haunted arpeggio that wouldn't look out of place on church on Sunday. For added breakbeat badness head for Cloaka's dark-step twist on "Adonis". Bang!

Review: Northern darkstepper Kilner steps up to curate the second Four40 compendium, and he's looted the most exclusive of vaults to create a collection that's wholly unique to him. Tightly sprung in unreleased cuts and dubs, it's sharp-tailored document of where 130 bass music is at in the UK right now. From the lean groaning two-step shuffles of Hybrid Theory's "Tempering" via the warehouse-battering tubular bass and twisted vocal flexes of Adjected Deleted & Scullious's "Enemy" via the murderous grumblings and bounce-bass badness of Fogg & The Bumpy Fool, Kilner's so on point right now he sleeps on a bed of nails. Sharp.

Review: Ed Butler and Robbie Lamond aka Billon have finally managed to release some music after a handsome set of DJ mixes and compilations, and it's on none other than London's Rinse. "Nothing" is a funky and stepping house number with blue-eyed soul vocals and a rather special remix/collaboration rework by garage legend Todd Edwards, who transforms the original into a straighter kind of lick. "Dive In" is the floor ticket thanks to that swelling Chicago bassline, and you have drum and bass maverick Nu:Tone to stir things up into an unexpected dusty house swing.

I Need Your Love - (4:23) 133 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release
from $1.49
Review: The chipmunks are coming out to play on this new Bear Fresh release and they're hanging off the catchy hooks, and subsequent basslines of "Deeper" that burrow further underground by the beat once they drop. It's a fanfare of horns and devious triangle percussion on "I Need Your Love" with subtle bubbles of synths and breathy vocals giving this track as deeper disposition. These tracks are overly serious, nor are they too ironic, and they're the perfect tonic for a dancefloor hungry for garage beats, dubstep bass and housey synths.

Review: An iconic and heavyweight garage label from the mid to late '90s, Ice Cream dropped a fair few classics in their heyday - as proved by this first volume of re-releases out this week. Songs don't get any mightier than Double 99's seminal bass-anthem "Rip Groove", which lead off this collection, while other forgotten greats like Stephen Emmanuel's choppy 2-step beauty "Hold On" and RIP Productions' huge house/garage hybrids "Work It" and "Love Is What We Need" simply put half of garage's new-jacks to shame.

Review: Rinse FM favourite A Motion is back delivering a unique, forward-looking fusion of classic speed garage and two-step. The You Know EP features four new bangers in this ilk, all peppered with further sonic elements. The spartan title-track mixes melodic wobble bass and floaty female vocals, "Close Your Eyes" features mean bass growls under hypnotic vocals melodies, "Locked" introduces spacey rave pads and "What You Do" integrates '90s house organs with raw tw-step friskiness. Fierce!

Review: Already a veteran of labels such as Cheap Thrills, Bass Clinique and Jalapino, this London based, Birmingham-born producer is back with a new banger, "Feel Good", on Saucy. Recently championed by Rinse FM's Dappa, "Feel Good" is a remarkable fusion of bottom-heavy rolling bassline and melodic disco-house for a total dancefloor bomb. There are three mixes too with AMotion exploring moody, swishy, break-step, Libra going retro piano-garage and Mafia Kiss ending proceedings with some deliciously deep rave sounds.

Review: Kry Wolf's Sounds Of Sumo celebrate five years of prize fighting with this superb 14-track newness of an opus. With cuts from some of the label's most distinctive members and new faces alike, the collection seeps freshness from every twist and turn... Bondax's silky two-step twist of Mak & Pasteman's "Heat", Somepoe's super-sharp-stepper "Late Night Bootie", the deep dubby tech squiggles of Tony Goods' "2 Scoops", Tee Circus's dangerously overweight warp session "Plus 8". The list goes on. Versatile, creative and overwhelmingly funky, here's to another five years.

Review: "Bring On The Trumpets" sees UK south coast producer Pelikann fusing aspects of trap with dark garage beats and dubstep basslines to create a hybrid that's so heavy you'll need to go on a diet after digesting it. Remix-wise Archive sticks on extra pounds by supersizing the bass tears and making the kicks even chunkier. "The Mask" takes more of a tech approach with a dynamic uncompromising, unrelenting rhythm, a deep space drop and twisted spoken word sample. Looking for a two-step twist? Jump on PVC's remix. Grizzly.

Review: Sheffield's Chip Butty label returns with its latest unmissable dose of bass, with label owner Dr Cryptic delivering three tracks alongside another trio of low-end heaters from Dr Oscillator. Brilliantly titled the Dr Who? EP, it sees Dr Oscillator deliver the digidub-flecked bass of "BIG", the frantic sub workout of "Cocaine" and dark, sinister stripped-back sounds of "Mandem". Dr Cryptic's contributions are on the much ruder end of the bass scale, with "I Don't Care", a peak time slice of 4/4 featuring red alert sirens, "Rudebwoi" a vortex of churning bass and killer vocals and "Gibbo" another tune guaranteed to mash up the dance with its frequencies. Essential stuff!

Review: Tumble Audio has been providing us with seriously killer bass music for a few years now, and here they celebrate reaching their tenth release by recruiting Roadman Joel to curate a selection of the kind of seriously heavy tunes you might expect to hear at one of their many label nights. There's a whopping 18 tracks on here covering a wide spectrum of British urban dance music, including Majora's ridiculously amazing tribal UKF monster "T&C's", A Motion's ghetto 2-step hybrid "Back In Your Love" and Sentiment's wobble-heavy tropical jam, "Change You".
