Review: In the 90s AC Slater was the totally ripped jock in Saved By the Bell, but now however, it's the name of an LA bass maniac. Arriving on his own mighty Night Bass Label, My Peoples is a two track EP that continues to bring the sub-heavy heat to the USA. The title track is a storming 4 x 4 thumper with hip-hop samples and a stop-start dynamic that'll stop you resting on your laurels. Next up "Psycho" is a throwback to the deep and jazzy garage/house of the 90s - imagine vintage Van Helden with a firecracker in his tracksuit!

Review: Hailing from Edinburgh, Blackboxxx got his first break with the mighty Slime label. Since his debut, Sayonara, he's progressed and honed his sound, resulting in this smart new offering, Adonis, on NM Recordings. The title track is a warm slice of future 2-step, complete with dreamy atmospherics, distant RnB vocals and some deep sub warbles. "Link Up" goes even further into luxurious MJ Cole-style vibes for a truly slick ride. Moony also remixes the former into some filthy hardcore nastiness, with bouncy breaks mayhem by Cellardore and smooth late night vibes Courtesy of Doctor Nick.

Action Break - (4:45) 128 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release

Review: Boy 8 Bit exploded on to the nu-rave/fidget scene in the late Noughties alongside the likes of The Count & Sinden and Duke Dumont. He's taken a bit of a sabbatical of late but now appears to be back with more music. The first signs of his return is this new two-track release on Roska's Kicks & Snares. "Low Blow" dispenses with the noisier elements of his production (he's a big fan of death metal!) in favour of infectious tropical beats and shimmering melodic chimes. "Action Break" meanwhile, is even more percussive, with rat-tat-tat tribal snares rolling under undulating bass.

Review: Despite being one of Southpoint's 'original family members', the debut release from Brighton's Ceezus and Illa has only just now arrived. The Conquer EP features what they describe as 'three high-powered grime instrumentals', which is only partly true as they draw on much wider influences than grime itself. The title track is full of hip-hop swagger - brassy riffs and rattlesnake percussion - and is given a bouncy 4 x 4 makeover by Tengu and a rabid, doomy and eccentric rework by Aerotonin. Elsewhere they look to ancient Japan on "Ronin" and they chill out on the atmospheric "Wasted".

Review: Exclusive - and free - to Junodownload, we're very proud to host this incendiary EP from Southpoint as they join us for a full takeover showcase. Having established a spotless reputation in bass circles as they fuse the tendrils of all the genres that matter; grime, UKG, bass and all creative spaces in between. This EP is yet another perfect snapshot of where they're at: Ceezus brings some conscious thought into the lyrical danger of the brilliantly titled "Juno", ChemistRNS cooks up a sassy UKG throwback with "Ciara" while James Mannion maintains the classical two-step and UKG vibes with a harmonic, pranged out riff. It's down to Mofaux to close the deal with "What's Going On" with a toxic brew of swinging kicks, loose amen fills and gangster voices. Southpoint? On point. There's a reason the likes of Marcus Nasty, DJ Cartier and Dappa rate the label as one of the best new imprints in the game right now.

Review: Originally known as one half of UKG/UK funky/house fusionists Cause & Effect, Chris Lorenzo has decided to venture out on his own for debut album, Destroy The Image. The Birmingham-based producer is known for his love of collaborating and over the 14 tracks here we encounter hook ups with Alex Mills, DJ Zinc and Sam Nicolosi. Highlights include the creeped-out techno mantra of "Come Down", the radio-friendly EDM anthem, "We Are" and the dirty tropical baile attack, "Bad Bitch".

Review: Christian Jay recently moved away from Bristol, but the sounds of the city are still coursing through his veins (or, more accurately, his productions). While the lead cut from this debut solo EP, the fine "Contrail", is in essence a gently sun-kissed two-step shuffler, it's still shot through with the kind of freshly baked, dub-wise flavour that's always been a hallmark of the West Country city. It doesn't try too hard for attention, but still makes a significant impression. There are more broken, two-step influenced rhythms to be found with "117", where Jay layers glistening, chiming melody lines atop a solid, bass-rich groove.

Review: Rising Bristol UKG craftsman Conducta teams up with longstanding soul man Lifford for a track that's highly reminiscent of Artful Dodger and Craig David's early work; slick, hooky and sprinkled with perfect balance of pop, soul and deep dark subs. Ticking every box a UKG anthem needs to this could work on radio and appeal to all corners, genders and natures of dancefloor. This has potential to go all the way.

Review: Hot on the heels of the dreamy soul-step gem Still You, Show them agency have now commissioned a follow up remix by Holy Goof. Where the original by Bristol producer Conducta was sleeker than a velvet-lined Cadillac, Midland's hero Holf Goof opts for a much more raw take. Boasting speedy 4 x 4 beats and a growling wobble bassline, the remix manages to provide a jam that keeps the anthemic song parts whilst delivering dancefloor mayhem at the same time. Boom!

Review: The Rocstar label have been going strong for a good while now, never tired of splurging out on everything to do with UK dance music; from garage, to grime and breakbeat, these heads like to bill up and spark those smoking joints. They got newcomer Danny.Wav this time around, a young bass-slinger who has no problem in laying down some absolute nastiness in "Hold it Down", his debut as a producer, and a monster hybrid tune. The instrumental mix is big, and and heavy - a perfect DJ weapon - whereas "Woi!" mashes shit up and lays down a speed-garage banger like we haven't heard in donkey's years

Review: With London's Daze Prism tearing up the bassline landscape this year, it was inevitable that he and the mighty U Wot Blud would eventually meet. Meet they did and the result is the much-anticipated Venom single. These four tracks are going to take this producer to the next level, with sounds ranging from the dreamy UKG and soulful ("Don't You", "Venom") to sizzling 4x4 driven mayhem ("Kalimba","Rudeboy"), and all laced DP's trademark urban edge. No antidote necessary.

Review: With releases on New Wave under their belt, a forthcoming release on U Wot Blud and this new two-track missive on Low Pitched, it seems that Daze Prism's time is now. There are two merciless joints here: "Polariza" which fuses skippy, steppy beats with a dubby low-end pulse and scattershot percussion. They really bring some fiyah on "Casma" though, where dark tropical beats and pitched up RnB vocal wails fuel a mean 4 x 4 chassis. Fierce sounds.

Review: Bristol-born, London based bass man Dephex has building solid rep for himself through producing 'sinister, inventive beats in the 120-140bpm' tempo. Here he conjures up four cuts for the Impulse EP. "Bad" opens with percolating, forward facing bass and skippy beats. Elsewhere ""Bust" incorporates intricate stop/start beats and monstrous bass growls and "full Fat Butter" ventures into 2-step territory with extra lashings of rubbery bounce. Lastly "Impulse" features soft synth chords sharing the stage with relentless wobble bass and speedy 4 x 4 drums. Muchs power here.

Review: What Dr Oetker is to frozen pizzas, Dr Oscillator is to naughty potty-mouthed bassline music: tasty. Making his debut at Michelin starred bass restaurant Project Allout, chef Oscillator has cooked his most scrumptious bangers... "The Taxman" skanks with iced-out low end menace, "Hostile" hits with more drama than a year of Eastenders while "Chicken & Gravy" closes on a scrum-diddly-umptious two-step flex where subs flutter and keys ripple with a jazzy sexiness. Yum.

Review: The original version of Catch Me Here saw Drumsound & Bassline Smith recruit the silky vocals of 23-year old Conor Maynard for a shimmering DnB pop anthem. Now, following the success of that hit, it's time for the remix package. There are four new versions here, lead by a synthy digi-2 step rework by Thom. Elsewhere Ben Dooks goes for pure piano-house cheese, Ryuken, adds some much needed edge with a skippy, wobble-heavy work out and last but not least, Development go further still with the full dubstep/4 x 4 of the toughest and best rework here.

Review: Bristol's Fish likes to keep everyone guessing about where he's going next. As a junglist he's brought some serious fiyah but lately he's also dropped bass and house and well, you name it. The Square Waved EP mixes all them genres up and more. The title track is a fierce, carnival-tinged dubby monster and "Brick Top" is proper nasty urban 4 x 4 with real geezer samples and heavy bass. Remix-wise "Bad Luck On Dem" gets turned into deep tropical bass by Jook10, a UK-style jack-fest by Fish himself and proper mind-melting 4 x 4 by Rossi B & Luca.

Review: Almost exclusively found on YoSH, here Southampton act FooR switch to Four40 for Luv U Right. They've marked the release with a James Corden Carpool Karaoke-style video too. The title track is first and delivers some moody and sparse UKG married to a seriously raw bassline, "Never Meant To Be" is a dark garage/half-step hybrid powered by the warped vocals of Chanai Zinyuku and "Something, Something" is the most powerfully viscous slice of tech-garage-wobble-whatever! that we've heard in a long time. Lastly "Switch" wraps things up nicely with tasty 4 x 4 banger.

Review: Jamie Maude has exploded out of nowhere (well, Oxted actually) with the epic banger, "Ride" on London's Low Pitched. Ears are already buzzing about the record not least because it braves to feature Loleatta Holloway's famous 'Ride On Time' line. However the line is warped beyond recognition and in fact it's the alien abduction 4 x 4 vibes, retro house organ riffs, skippy beats and heavy wobble attitude that is the real story here.

Review: With all the big 4x4 bass thumpers spinning his wares (My Nu Leng, DJ Q, Flava D etc), Holy Goof continues to shred up the low end scene with his trademark sledgehammer funk. Utilising a sharp shard of Six By Six lyric on gaps that count, Goof's bassline warps with treacle-like weight and shape with just the right amount of funk. Heads down.
