Review: For his debut on Phucked Recordings, 1Point5 has delivered a very impressively produced offering indeed. Intricate, 2-step infused beats jostle for supremacy with bouncy dubby bass notes and a slick vocal from Al Rolfe, before they conclude that basically they all win. Remix wise, Moxix opts for a synth heavy post dubstep reworking replete with crying baby sampling whilst Nu-Direction offers up a futuristic doomy D&B revision.

Review: Prague's Meanbucket have snapped up some raw new talent in the shape of Dutch producer 618. This here is his debut release and with one listen it makes it clear why he's created a buzz for himself. Review: London via North Devon imprint Shifting Peaks are keeping the party pressure on with this bumper-packed EP. It's a label debut from duo De$ignated (Nima Bazrcar and Rory Bowyer) who split their time between London and Hampshire. Having garnered some major hype from a string of remixes, they've managed to secure Kyiki from Crystal Fighters for this, this own single. Review: This er, young kid (Tom Guerriero-Davies) from Nottingham, is tearing it up with this tune, getting plays on Rinse FM and more. Although he describes his sound as a variant of 2-step, it really doesn't do this tune justice. In fact it's a pretty hard record to categorise, other than it's a brilliant slice of haunting future tropical in which Della just rinses all the sounds, samples and riffs at his disposal to sound like, well, nothing else around. Remix-wise we also get quirky garage from Nomi and some seriously haunted house courtesy of AtsuBox.

Review: Bringing further evolution in the realm of footwork, one of the scene's heavy hitters DJ Earl drops this self-assured EP which lets a little heart and soul into the manic machinations of his chosen discipline. Opening track "I Feel It" embraces full-bodied vocals and warm melodies, while "I Need You" gets deep into a Rhodes refrain, all the while twitching away at the heightened BPMs of classic footwork. "Alive N' Well" goes as far as to reach for some chunky Detroit chords, while "Ambienttt" somewhat ironically represents the feistiest cut on the release with a more head-nagging refrain that seems more in line with classic Chicago juking.

Review: It's not every day we come across underground bass artists named after an actress in a 1980s soap, Dynasty, but it takes all sorts as they say. Musically this is seriously next level stuff: "I Can't Hide" is twisted and contorted tribal house with half time breaks and a killer cowbell. "No Way Back" is similarly bonkers but drowns everything is neon synths. Remixers include The Druid Cloak (sounds like a Brazilian carnival stumbling into a rave), Kresy (slow, emotional house) and Rohan (even deeper still; adding melancholic keyboards and cut up vocals for what's possibly the stand-out track).

Review: Originally released spring 2012, Foamo's monstrously heavy bass chugger "Sherlock" gets the treatment from a variety of talented players. Kry Wolf drop the tempo slightly for a resonant UKG strut, Taiki & Nulight continue the garage vibe with a more uptempo, menacing bass motif, Millions Like Us add some cinematic breakbeats and shivering synth washes to the mix, My Nu Leng take a leaf out of Bassbin Twin's booty-bass book while LKid calms us down with a very neat, early 90s house version. A great spread and not a duff rub in sight.

Review: New kid on the block Groofeo steps up on Slime Recordings with his irresistibly grinding Hybrid EP - a suitable name given the dude's masterful blend of half-step beats and chimerical atmospherics. "Outside the Earth" lies somewhere between Calibre's majestic jungle rhythms and Oneohtrix Point Never's drones - a winning combination. "Synchrophasotron" is a stunning chugger, reminiscent of early DMZ, bringing back those lazy, sludgy kicks with subtle swirls of UK nastiness emanating from all angles. "Melancholy" meanwhile takes a broken beat arrangement and completely twists it on his head, giving us a slow-burning and soulful jazzy soundscape for the early hours.

Review: Ahead of a multitude of new ventures and projects, Hyetal makes a welcome return to hint at where his sound might be heading with this new track. It's a bold move that fuses rasping electro drum patterns with reverbed vocal and trademark plush, detuning melodies that comes on like a dramatic, windswept version of synth-pop built for craggy coastlines. Vessel steps up for the first remix, shearing away the niceties to create some industrial flavoured dread complete with yowling, nebulous wraiths of the original vocal and insistent bass. Factory Floor meanwhile bring their own brand of looping sample revisions that work up to a peppy, disco-fuelled burner with a catchy bassline to anchor the more wayward samples in the background.
