Reading's Jook 10 has forged a relentless path through the UKF/bassline scene with a series of perfectly crafted DJ tools and bangers alike. Here are his latest four tunes and they're a mixture of both: the tropically-tinged slammin 4x4 "Trees" is a lean and mean tool as is the drum heavy "Jumpy Jumpy", while the likes of "Platinum" is total hands in the air trancey moombahton.

Jazz & Milk label boss Dusty fires up the anticipation machine with this fruity four piece from his forthcoming album. "Mood Matters" bangs with jazz house attitude. Establishing a rock-solid groove, Dusty lets the trumpets loose as they scribble all over his tight beat work. "Danse Macabre" is a co-lab with his live act Bad Jazz Troupe who live up their name with a whole cavalcade of rhythm switches and psychedelic melodic patterns. "Seventy Three" is heads south for a lesson in horn-heaved Afrofunk while "Longing Lingers" finishes on a sultry, soul-jazz boogie note thanks to the sexy vocals of Carla Vallet. Yummy.

Nickodemus is one third of the Turntables On The Hudson crew (the other two being Nappy G and Mariano). Here Nickodemus looks across the water to Barcelona for extra Hispanic vibes, and delivers a juicy 14 track comp in the process. Highlights include the breaky dub and African vibes of "Palenque Barcelona", DJ Vadim's late 90s-style RnB remix of "Flyaway", the intense tropical percussion of "Ma Do Nar (Captain Planet remix)", and reggaeton banger "Toca Flute (Sabo Moombahton edit)".

Pelican Fly teams up with the infamous Ed Banger institution to deliver a tight little remix package of Cahmere Cat's "Mirror Maru" EP! Only "Mirror Maru" and "Kiss Kiss" are chosen as part of the project but judging from the diversity of the remixing team, this can only mean one thing: DOPE! Canblaster takes the first shot at the former, transforming the original into a sexy and seductive R&B anthem, whilst Busy P goes for a straight-up hip-hop flex with a touch of electro-tinged balearica, and LidoLido takes us on a soothing journey through sparse vocal-chops and grinding, booty-shaking basslines. As for the latter, G Vump takes a startling broken beat flex, reducing the original to a stuttering mass of kicks, snares and ominous harmonics; but the real surprise comes from Feadz & Kito, who create an all-out monster half-step belter - fresh!

Not content with putting up with a winter that's outstaying its welcome, Innerground have begun to piece together a work collective that shows off the sundrenched atmospherics of the Brazilian drum and bass scene. Headed up by DJ Marky and S.P.Y, the first track is of course "Yellow Shoes" but with a twist; adding that classic Calibre warmth to drum and bass' ultimate summer anthem tones down the glare, making it much more accessible to those of us bleached by a thousand months of rain and sleet. "Summer Soul" is far less accommodating however, and as the title suggests, it's a Submorphics-flavoured roll through the bassy summer days and soulful vocals that have become a staple of the Brazilian scene. A perfect excuse to ramp up the heating and crack open some Brahmas.

Colin Baldry is hardly a well-known name, despite spending the last 20 years composing music for TV, film and adverts. Here, he steps out of the shadows to deliver the first single from his brand new 'orchestral jazz' project, Ambient Jazz Ensemble. His own rework of forthcoming album cut "Jazz Face", which opens proceedings, sets the tone, delivering a luscious slice of brilliantly played and impressively produced nu-jazz. Kirk Degiorgio delivers a warm, hip-hop influenced uptempo rework, all scattergun beats and cosy chords, before Simbad steals the show with two excellent spiritual jazz-house versions. Of the two, it's the deeper Rainy Remix that most impresses.

Although there's a few claimants to the Spooky moniker, this one is a grime DJ who hails from London's East End. Here, fledgling label Oil Gang have coaxed a pretty varied release from the man behind 2010's cult hit, "Spartan". "Coolie Joyride" is a cut up of a familiar Coolie riddim, famously featured in Nina Sky's hit 'Move Ya Body'. "Electric Fence" is swaggering half-time electro dancehall and "Rhythm & Slags (Part 2)" is a menacing electro-grime anthem.

Despite only unveiling themselves to the public in 2010, Black Butter Records have already ascended to some impressive heights with a string of hugely popular bass/UKF releases. This first 'proper' label comp features five names from their roster, remixed by many more. It's literally fizzing and popping with retro-futuristic ideas and sounds: from the B-more drum machine orgy of "Be More (3hrs & Woz mix), to Matta's accelerated electro version of Kidnap Kid's classic "Vehl" and Vince Clarke's elasticated tech-house version of "Lazarus Taxon", to the scuzzy, rave-inflected house of Codec's "What You Need", the thoroughly ominous bass tones of "Hackney Heat" by Racknruin via the eccentric end-of the world beats of "Trick Green" by Hostage.

Here's a challenge to all you crate diggers out there, according to Jazzman's DJ Fryer they always dig deeper! The results show in this excellent double LPs-worth of vintage prime cuts that sound surprisingly dance-floor friendly rather than quaint. Highlights include the intense funk assault of "Wake Up", the classy, shimmering "Teacherman", the emotional "Lost In The Crowd", the puny "Rollercoaster" and Ashley Beedle's re-edit of "Keep Her Happy".

If the key to making a great split EP is to ensure that every track stands out in its own right, then Room With A View have hit the jackpot with their latest all-star effort. There's no fluff or filler, just a quartet of pleasingly playable deep house groovers. Dave Aju kicks off proceedings with the thumping but spacious "Love Tap", a swinging shuffler that benefits greatly from some cute top-end percussion touches. Nowakowski's "They Get Up" is intense and off-key while remaining suitably deep, while Iron Galaxy's darting "Refining Fire" recalls the acid-laden "intelligent techno" of times gone by. Best of all, though, is Taron Trekka's "NemDa", a hip-hop-meets-deep house chugger with jazzy keys for days.

First, let's just take a minute to reflect on how cool spider monkeys are. Cluekid's clearly a fan of the monkey world's scattiest critter; he's named an entire track after them. He's even crafted a frenetic percussive rhythm to match their crazed, clambering movements. Tropical and triggered to ensure maximum bounce, it's one of Cluey's most energetic cuts to date. "Rainy Street Light" plays the perfect foil; deep and moody, it's more your classic halfstep but with shades of deep house in the chord structure and shy melodic squiggles. A great way to calm down after an attack of the spider monkeys.

Wow! Fans of either Escort or modern nu-disco (or both!) can now rejoice as the retro New Jersey band's eponymous LP has now been remixed by a string of key producers. It's a veritable feast, a smorgasbord even, of pulsating electronics, female vocals and the kind of music that makes you imagine you're Richard Gere in American Gigolo. Highlights include the voodoo weirdness of Sub Swara's take on "All Through The Night", the high octane Proper Heat mix of "Chameleon Chameleon" and Ewan Pearson's Tom Tom Club-esque version of "Cocaine Blues".

Bringing the experimental vibes has always been a strength of Ant TC1's Dispatch Recordings and this latest release doesn't bow to commercial pressure. "Degeneration" is a dark cacophony of deep atmospherics and shattered breaks, with lunging bass pushing forward and striking with Cern's trademark deadly accuracy. DBR UK and MTWN's inclusion "Shrapnel" is a fierce stepper with dubby bass vibes set firmly in after dark mentality. One for minimal tension, one to make you move, both from a label that's set itself in firm 'buy on sight' territory for years. An insta-bag.

The ascent of Romanian producer Razvan Ghenciu continues apace with this new single on Audio Parallax following singles on Los Grandes and Gazeebo International. He's possibly got housier if not deeper too: "Brother Dub" is smoky and laid back with shimmering chords and delayed vocal samples (and also remixed in linear and looped form by Get Down Edits). "Sister Groove" is more disco-influenced and reminiscent of Metro Area and lastly, "Aural Walk" is six minutes of brooding, wah-heavy retro funk.

Not wanting to slow his relentless momentum, Mr Confuse is back in town, all guns blazing and clutching a remixed version of his recent LP, "Do You Realise". Bristol-based rising stars Jaymo and Andy George are regular collaborators. Here, they join forces again to launch Moda Music offshoot Moda Black with a compilation of previously unreleased material. For those interested in the new wave of British and European house, it should be an essential purchase. Some of the duo's own Bristol pals make an appearance, with strong contributions from Lukas (the darting "Best In Show") and Eats Everything & Idiotproof (an excellent, peaktime-friendly remix of The 2 Bears). Elsewhere, highlights include a grandiose new cut from the duo themselves, an organ-heavy garage-meets-cocaine house banger from Disclosure, and a cacophonous rinse-out from Hot Since 82.

If you're after some party-minded breakbeat that doesn't resort to obvious samples or cheap tricks, this expansive collection of all-new cuts from Funkusol Records should hit the spot. Kicking off with the decidedly ruffneck flavour of DJ Axe's "Breakbeat Junkies", Fresh Beats more than delivers on its promise. Aside from the fact that the vast majority of the artists involved are unknown, highlights come thick and fast. For heady thrills, choose between the disco-matic funk of "It's All Good" by Robinson Grooves, the sweet hip-hop hustle of Bialson Hajsy's "Can You Dig It" and the electrofunk-meets-wobble of Funk You Very Much's "Cannabis & Wine". Really, though, it's all good.

Second time around for Romanian producer Razvan Ghenciu's So Much Soul EP, which gained plenty of plaudits on its 2012 release on Los Grandes. Here, the EP's four original tracks get a good seeing-to from some of the leading lights in the 2013 nu-disco/disco-house scene. There's plenty to enjoy, from the darting P-funk synths and classic house pianos of JKriv's rework of "Circus", to the ultra-deep house smokiness of Softmore's luscious version of "Silk". There are some particularly tasty slow jams, too, of which Rocco Raimundo's suitably sleazy remix of "Circus" stands out. Really, though, it's all good.

Seattle might be a city famous for grunge, rain and coffee, but Quadrant, Kid Hops and Iris are hoping to place it firmly on the map for chilling, glacial liquid funk too. Forgoing the usual sun 'n' sea atmospherics for an altogether more Baltic feel, "Solar Wind" tweaks electronic chimes and cirrus-light sampling into an icy cold roller Enei would be proud of. Newcomers Lukeino and Homemade Weapons collab with Quadrant on "Mayday", as light synths circle above a crevasse of deep, cavernous bass. Cinematic and fresh with unique elements of crisp production and breakbeat influences, its got our seal of approval.

This crew is known for delivering release after release of seamless, if often cheeky, bootlegs and mash-ups, and this latest installment is no different. What does separate it from most of their previous releases though, is the size: this one clocks in with a whopping 16 tracks! As usual it's a funk-heavy selection, of which highlights include an organ-led, 60s style makeover for the Jacksons on "Dave Jackson", the P-Funkisms of "Party Sweep", the Yazoo-twisting of "Go Well" and the Snoop Dogg-goes-ska laid back grooves of "Cantaloop Dog".

If you're suffering from a post-Christmas slump and are keen to mix things up, this EP of varied edits from Berlin-based producer Alkalino could be right up your alley. Featuring six varied cuts that touch on electrofunk, P-funk, jazz and '80s electro, there's plenty of playable fodder for discerning DJs. Highlights include the talkbox funk and piano solo bizniz of "I Love It", the hustling disco-funk of "Silver Shot" (check the fabulous percussion break halfway through), the jazztime swing of "Janeiro" and the heavyweight Whodini re-cut "Something Funky". Also worth a look is the winding, cosmic oddness of "Warp" - a curious concoction that should appeal to those who like to drop a bit of leftfield disco.

A very special release from nu-funk barons Ghetto Funk: DJP and Breakbeat Junkie have formed to create Second Hand Audio. And to celebrate? They've recruited one of the coolest, distinctive MCs Long Beach has ever given us... Ugly Duckling's Dizzy Dustin! The end result is an authentic slice of original nu funk that pays heavy homage to the scene's biggest influence: funky, laidback hip-hop. Each version is sure-fire party-rocker; warm-ups will enjoy DJP's sludgy, slo-mo riddim while peaktimers will go cuckoo for Featurecast's take. Yup, cuckoo.

Prins Thomas' Full Pupp label seems to excel at finding hitherto unknown Norwegian disco talent. Here, it offers up the debut full-length from Oslo native Andre Bratten, who apparently shares studio space with Lindstrom and Todd Terje. Comparisons with both producers are understandable; Be A Man You Ant's shimmering vintage synths, stargazing melodies and chugging space disco grooves (particularly those on the intoxicating "Aegis") are reminiscent of both producers' early work. It's already been pointed out that "Libra" shares an aesthetic with Terje's "Inspector Norse", while the quirky "Still Sertie" and mutant funk oddity "I Am Square" bear all the hallmarks of a Six Cups of Rebel B-side. Clearly, Bratten is a talent to watch.

Entitled simply Grime 2.0, this mammoth release sees grime originators sit next to a new breed of artists, all compiled by Big Dada label boss Will Ashon and journalist Joe Muggs. Documenting grime's continued development over the past ten years, its track selections also demonstrate that it's still a vibrant and flourishing genre. Some 35 tracks deep, the compilation sees Ashon and Muggs securing exclusive, previously unheard material, with notable grime figureheads such as Youngstar, Wiley and MRK1 contributing alongside current stars in Royal T and Preditah as well as an international cast of emergent new talent, with Local Action artist and Grimetapes documenter Slackk featuring too. The Dirty Dubster crew return with a bumper seventh volume of their ragga party jams, and true to form, they mash up ragga with other contemporary styles with considerable style. F-Block's "Jah Bone" combines all manner of echo-laden dub guitar with filthy dubstep bass, while Wood N Soo's "Smoke 2 Joints" is a contemporary update on The Toyes' classic, filling it with rolling snares and powerful low end. Subtifuge's "Love 4 U" is a slightly more skanking effort, with rolling D&B rhythms completely at odds with its laid back mood, while DJ Tzinas' "Wicked" combines a horn sectiona and tropical acoustic guitar with some serious dub airhorn - big stuff all round!

Smokey Bandits are a side project of producers George Fotiadis & Dimitris Nassios (of Basement Freaks/Quasamodo fame). Unsurprisingly their favourite movie is Smokey & The Bandit and this mutual love has resulted in this cowboy themed long player. "Revolucion Valienete" kicks off with a down Mexico way trumpet vibe, "Cattledrive" is a jazzy shuffle number, "The Rooster" touches of Latino trip-hop and "A Son's Lament" end proceedings with some widescreen orchestrated beats.

Boe "Badboe" Pedersen has always been one of he more reliable sources of floor friendly, funk-laden breaks jams. While his style sticks to the tried-and-tested, there's a quality present that's often lacking in similar breakbeat productions. Pump Up The Funk, his second full length, has plenty of dancefloor chops. It features a range of cuts created using snappy rhythms, familiar hip-hop samples (Missy Elliot and Redman are both notable inclusions) and fat funk grooves. There's a casual swing and groove to the material that's endearing, too - something that can't be said about many of his competitors' creations. If breakbeat is your bag, this comes highly recommended.

Dutty Audio's Brazilian drum & bass badman BTK takes no prisoners when he goes in. "Megahertz" is a full-on dancefloor destroyer, best heard on an 100ft system as the end of the world approaches. For those on a non-apocalyptic tip, fragmented breaks and a deep bass groove give the title track seriously addictive headphone appeal too. After an insane build-up, the rapidfire roll of "Be Yourself" smashes straight into neuro funk filth with the type of bassline that gets crowds of thousands screwfacing in harmony. It's a beautiful thing
