Review:
Hot on the heels of last month's label sampler, Siberian disco fantasist Alexander Chebankov delivers a new selection of songs from his stable. Chebankov himself, under his Sunner Soul alias, is one of the two artists featured; delivering the tight filtered funk of "The Dream Bird", the laid back cosmic jam "Day After Day" and the sweaty cowbell workout that is "Anytime To Funk". The Sunlight Disco Band step up to handle the other three tunes here: the light and breezy, almost French touch-esque "Streetlight", the looped exoticism of "Renaissance Hotel" and the quirky 80s-style party romp "Morning Exercise".

DJ Ionic's Finnish disco-boogie label Kojak Giant Sounds goes digital with this re-issue of a successful single from a few years back. "I'd Like To You" is some baddass electro-boogie with a heavy kick adding that extra thump needed. "Poyson" is a slow and tight Larry Levan-style funk jam, with extra-elastic bass and a tough talkin' diva to boot!

Review:
It's great to see classic UKG label Ice Cream Records back in action of late. Here they've resurrected mid 90s garage pioneers RiP Productions, who even back then were way ahead of the curve in terms of futuristic takes on the formula. This re-issue of "Rush Me" sees the 1998 '10 Below mix' (another alias of RiP) lead the package, with a thumping, bass-heavy new vocal mix being the flake in this particularly tasty 99 cone.

Review:
The Italian nu-disco dons Ajello are back on home ground following their recent foray into African sounds on the Kalimba Tune EP. Released on their much loved Demo Disc label, these three new tracks see them doing what they do best: "Soomee" begins things on a slow, head-nodding, quirky funk tip, "Sport" is the kind of accelerated slice of amazing hiNRG electro-disco not heard since the days of the late great Patrick Cowley, and "Joker" is a cool excursion into leftfield electronic disco, full of eccentric twists and turns that lead to a bonkers Italo crescendo.

Review:
Cool, confident and coated in 70s sample class; Sard Boogie develops his reputation as one of the more subversive, jazzier producers in the nu-funk movement with his fourth full lengther Funky Walker Dirty Talker. From the quirky key meanders on "5 6 Keyboards" to the early 90s hip-hop heaviness of "Peep Show" via the speedier, bloc-rocking swing-out "The Item", there's a great range on show, held together with a consistent theme of nifty chops and fun samples. Easily his most accomplished album yet.

Review:
Although it has only one release to its name - Happa's Beat Of The Drum - London club night turned record label Church is looking to be an imprint to keep close tabs on, especially on the strength of this second EP, from young London producer Rumah. Although his debut from last year demonstrated an atmospheric, syncopated style of bass music, "Stutter" shows a marked progression into swung techno styles, with a weighty track full of concrete rhythms and glassy synths; "Murmur" is similarly powerful, throwing acid flecks and sunken vocals into the mix. Meanwhile, Apes & Seb Wildblood offer their own take on "Stutter", tempering some of the original's more ferocious attributes with some subtle dub techno elements, while James Fox refixes "Murmur" into a slinky, mid-tempo house groover, whose swelling synths offer something considerably deeper.

Review:
Tessela has been one of the multi-headed UK bass scene's most interesting talents since he first appeared in 2011; following in the footsteps of many of his peers he's started a new label entitled as Poly Kicks, and this first release comes from the producer himself, featuring a track that shows a clear development of his signature sub-heavy sound that references classic breakbeat and jungle. "Hackney Parrot" has been much anticipated since it appeared via a Jackmaster and Loefah Boiler Room session last November, and is characterised by its stuttering vocal and tunnelling subs, guaranteed to cause dancefloor confusion and mayhem in equal measure.

Review:
Romanian deep house duo and Diynamic regulars NTFO are a decent capture for new label Jargon. Here they help get the label off to a sterling start with three tracks of rubbery deepness. The title track, complete with vocals from Forrest, sets the tone, delivering a heady mix rubbery acid bass, endless chords and orange-tinted atmospheres. There's a dash of Local Talk-ish garage revivalism (both US and UK) in the shape of the booming but deftly produced "Professor", while the fuzzy "Munkey Style" sounds like a fusion of Hypercolour-ish house, 808 State's "Cubik" and early Nu Groove deepness. It's a great combination.

Review:
Back with their second release, Disco Cakes assemble a talented mix of breaks producers of all different styles and collect them on this new, funk-fuelled set. Tom Drummond and JMC have fun with Daft Punk's "Robot Rock" on "Again & Again & Again", while big soulful vocals can be found on The Dancefloor Outlaws "Get Your Boogie Down" and Delimentary's "Why Can't There Be Love". Slynk and Ed Solo meanwhile update Skee Lo's evergreen "I Wish" in a whole new breaks-tinted way.

Review:
The Bomb Strike Sound System strikes again! This time Pimpsoul's taken the controls, picking up various co-pilots along the way. First up is "Merry Go Round". Co-written with Neon Steve, it's a really cool piece of sample mastery, taking a really obscure Supreme's vocal refrain and giving it a complete funk facial. "To The Beat" sees Pimpsoul flying in tandem with fellow Bomber Mooqee on a more stomp-angled number that incorporates a very Fred Durst sounding vocal snippet and a Fela Kuti horn sample. Finally Pimpers goes solo for "What". The prize banger of the bunch, it kidnaps the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, holds them in nu-funk's county jail and throws away the key with glee.

Review:
Things that make you go phwoar! Sexy people, massive bowls of ice cream, low flying blimps and, most importantly, Actual Sounds compilations. Each one of them comes bulging with baggy-trousered booty joints; they ooze character and promise nothing but the purist party juice. Vibes abound across the 20 track set but highlights include a trance-tinged electro treatment of Sugar Hill ("Belgium Delight"), DJ Nixon's rude rendition of Delinquent Habits' "Return Of The Tres", Mr Bird's squelch-attack on Moby and Middle Diddle's strangely effective take on Green Day. Sounds terrible in type, but brilliant through the speakers.
