Review: 21 years old. How about that then? Some of us were barely out of nappies when London Elektricity first launched the imprint, some of us remember like it was yesterday. Either way, we are all united under the big flouro H and right now they're celebrating their coming of age with a humungous 70 track collection. Yes, 70! Each cut handpicked to represent the London imprint's constantly evolving but always soul-touched and groove-laden sound are 24 exclusives such as Urbandawn's insane version of Reso's "Taiga", Fred V & Grafix's titanium colab with Metrik "Tension", Serum & Inja's already-massive "Blow Dem" and Whiney's remix of TC's chop-slapping "Storm Brew". Massive. Happy birthday Hospital!

Anymore - (3:51) 170 BPM
from $1.87
Review: Filed under Q in the D&B dictionary for Quintessential Breakage Rollers, James Breakage Boyle has launched his own label and it would appear he's well and truly back in the jungle. "Elmhurst Dub" is all about the break and the dubby washes while "Anymore" is one a moodier steppy vibe. Both subby, slinky, dank and dangerous, neither track could be purer if Doc Scott gave them an autopsy. True craftsmanship.

Watch Your Back - (5:15) 172 BPM

Review: A key radar fixture since emerging on Euphonique's Sub-Woofah a few years back, Epicentre makes a return to Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle with five more jaw-dropping jungle jams. There's a strong sticky-icky theme as we spark up - "Dem Vibez" is a soundsystem shaker with notorious lyrical levels while "I Like Dope" wobbles with a bassline so authentically jungle it still needs to pay its Poll Tax. "Featherweight" belies its name with heavyweight drums and rolling breaks where a grunting sub provides the main hook. Stepping closer to the light, "Sweet Dreams" is a more cosmic roll-out with subtle psychedelic flourishes while "Watch Your Back" is an all-out lesson in jungle theatre - toxic bass, operatic vocals, sheer dance hedonism. 100% vibes.

Kon - "Promised Land" - (9:02) 122 BPM
from $1.87
Review: Some eighteen months after it first dropped on wax, Whiskey Disco's brilliant Disco Galaxie EP finally gets a digital download release. Given the quality on show, it should be an essential purchase for any club-focused disco DJ. The real killer is Kon's "Promised Land" edit, a thrillingly epic re-arrangement of a long slung, bass-driven disco monster that slowly builds to a dubbed-out crescendo over nine mesmerizing minutes. Elsewhere, Jacques Renault's "Disco Galaxie" is an authentic scalpel rework of a swirling, string-laden space disco stomper, while Love Dance moves towards Philadelphia Soul territory on the impassioned disco hustle of "Who Is He".

Review: The S.O.B.A.D crew descend on Nottingham with a whole armoury of hybrid bass/beat hurters. Sly One do all the driving as "My Name" slaps with a UK take on juke beats as a fork-tongued lava rap from TK Wonder whips up a dramatic frenzy. "TMB" sees the trio taking us on an even techier tip with its loopy, hypnotic vocal loop while crew mates Distro & Archive give UK funky a dark, demented update for today's paranoid times. Final S.O.B.A.D member Bromley winds down the trip by completely stripping "My Name" back down to a classic electro breaks groove. Block rocking.

Review: Frankfurt innovator Rajko Muller returns as Isolee, working his magic this time for The Drifter's rather impressive Maeve imprint; which in recent times has brought us fantastic work by Ed Davenport, Baikal and Ripperton. "Pisco" is a slow burning groove with phased marimbas that cause a hypnotic dream state, while "L5 Syndrome" dives deeper: this smooth and introverted trip is definitely suited to the early night as it is for the afterhours and reminds us of his seminal, earlier works in the nineties for imprints like Playhouse. Finally, the title track is where Muller saves the best for last; this dubby, lo-slung groove is drenched in delayed and reverberated aesthetics. More great work by one of electronic music's true innovators.

Review: Some artists have the midas collabo touch. Artists like Need For Mirrors and Phil Tangent. Both superb vibe maestros in their own right, they also run extensive lines in partnerships... It was only a matter of time before they collided. And they've done so with five slices of pure gold. The whole collection is essential with highlights including the hazy swoops and reverse textures of "Candelabra", the restrained skin-melting poignancy of "Shifting Tones", the propeller-like heads-down rolls of "Residue" and a whole load more.

He Is The Voice I Hear - (10:29) 118 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release
from $1.87
Review: There's naturally been plenty of hype surrounding The Black Madonna's "He Is The Voice I Hear", which originally dropped on a single-sided 12" at the tail end of 2016. It's undoubtedly the fast-rising Chicagoan's best record to date, and feels like an unashamed tribute to Patrick Cowley's fine productions for disco icon Sylvester. While there are mournful notes - check the extended, beat-less piano intro -it doesn't take long to turn into a deliciously muscular, Italo-disco style chugger laden with razor-sharp strings, bubbling acid lines, and the kind of fluid piano solos that were once a hall mark of Frankie Knuckles' remixes. In other words, it's a fine contemporary disco record from one of dance music's most notable DJs of recent times.

Review: We're lucky we grasp a release a year from Karma's gnarly paws. But when we do, we always pay attention. Here are three reminders why. "Terrorist" wades into the fray with pneumatic beats that are reminiscent of Mezzanine-era Massive Attack. Foggy, misty and laced with a crucial Reggae vocal sample, it has a tsunami-like effect through a big system as waves of dubspace wash over the crowd. "Cha" continues the pneumatic rhythm feels. But this time with a persistent techno-like 4x4 that's wrapped in tight layers of warped subs. "Vacant Mind" neatly counters the energy of "Cha" with a pensive slo-mo march into the foggy void. All elements and textures woozily working together to create somnambulant momentum, it's Karma at his most meditative. Already sold out on limited vinyl, this is a seriously key release.

Review: It would be fair to refer to Dino Lenny as a "veteran": the Italian producer has been churning out dancefloor hits since the dawn of the '90s. This release sees him join forces with Cajual and Hot Creations regular Doorly for a loving tribute to the joys of club culture. The action centres on a meandering, largely spoken vocal describing a mesmerizing late night dancing experience in "The Magic Room". On the lead version - a tasty re-edit by Lenny and Seth Troxler - this is accompanied by "Lazy" style pianos, and a chunky, disco-tinged house groove. The low-slung guitars and bass are pushed to the fore on Doorly's energy-packed remix, while Luke Solomon doffs a cap to the jazz-flecked boompty sounds of Chicago on his busy rework.

Review: Since first emerging in 2014, Dutch duo Artefakt has earned a reputation for delivering spacey, melodious techno tracks that mines both classic Detroit techno, and British style 'intelligent techno' for inspiration. On this hotly anticipated debut album, they cast their net a little wider, including denser rhythms and more left of centre sounds amongst the starry melodies, intergalactic chords, and sparkling drum machine beats. It's a formula that consistently delivers results, from the undulating, tribal-influenced rhythms and emotion-rich musicality of "Entering The City", to the angry, acid-fuelled onslaught of "Return To Reason", via the sun-kissed electro brilliance of "Somatic Dreams".

Review: Raising tension and attention with every release right now, Natty Dub return with yet another BS-free collection from some of the underground's most respected individuals. T>I loosens the bass strings for his slinked out dark-jazz stepper "Regulate", Hoogs puts all the aces in their places with a precision space-reggae gully jam "R Ting", Coda goes all bubble-bass a la mid 90s V on "Back It Up" and Jaxx & Dub General roll out with pure grumble groove and classic jump up spoken samples. Finally Flat T brings business to a close with a deal-breaking late 90s Bristol-flavoured cut where the spooked-out bass has a life of its own. Immense.

Review: German house fusionist Adam Port first hooked up with the Stereo MC's some years back, with the veteran British hip-hop duo featuring on his 2014 cut "Place". On "Changes", he laces a particularly world-weary, emotion rich vocal from mic man Rob B over a rich, bouncy, synth-laden deep house groove and intertwined electronic melodies. His own remix, which kicks off the EP, pushes the track further towards Innervisions style late night tech-house territory. Arguably the most impressive version of all, though, comes from Freerange boss Jimpster, who re-imagines "Changes" as a handclap-heavy chunk of dusty late night deep house that benefits greatly from some warm chords and sweaty percussion hits.

Review: 2017 marks two decades since the release of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber's first album under the Tosca alias, the undeniably baked Opera. Given their length of service, it's heartening to see that their desire to create evocative, dubbed-out music remains undimmed. There's plenty to enjoy on Going Going Going, their first studio set for three years. Check, for example, the swirling, late night stroll through Istanbul that is "Amber November", the dub-meets-jazz warmth of "Friday", the flowery piano lines and jangling acoustic guitars of "Supersunday", and the thrillingly trippy, krautrock-influenced ambient dub of "Olympia". It would be churlish to say that it's a return to form - they've always been reliable, after all - but it's certainly one of their more impressive full-length outings.

Review: The Bunker's label has helped to cultivate a number of new techno acts over the past few years, and the latest artist to step up is Justin Cudmore. The Brooklyn-based DJ and producer first showcased his material on an EP for Honey Sound System last year, and Forget It provides further proof of his promise. The title track is a bleepy, acid-fuelled Chicago house track, while "New Jack The House" follows in a similar vein, albeit with rougher beats. "Moment" sees Cudmore fuse his love of 303s with the pitch-bent minimalism of Dan Bell, while on "Sweet Phantasy" he relives the energy of mid-west raves, as trancey chords flow over heavy drums.

Review: Footsie... It's been too long. Almost three years since his last King Original beat collections, the Newham General bumps back into your dublist with another slew of cold originals. Easing into the fray with restrained moody atmospheres on "God Like" and the chase-sequence, 808 smoking "Brake Light" Footsie gradually takes us deeper and deeper into his psyche... His contemplative side with the tripped out ricochet tones on "Smoke Ring" and spooky misty murkery of "Smoke Ring", his curveball, unpredictable side on tracks like "Two In The Front" and straight-up no-messing side on "One Finger" and the slow-burning orchestral damager "Hostile".... The list goes on. Deeper than previous collections and loaded with experimental twists, Footsie's on a serious vibe right here.

Review: Hot on the heels of the underrated Memories From Another Planet EP on his D.KO Records imprint, Ralph 'Flabaire' Manauri brings his brand of smooth and groovy deep house to Popcorn. He begins confidently, channeling the atmospheric spirit of Twin Peaks on the swirling, soundscape deep house shuffle of "Laura Palmer". He doffs a cap to the disco-flecked warmth of vintage East Midlands deep house productions on "Shabbat Jam", before fusing gentle acid lines, dreamy textures and bubbly melody lines on the enjoyable "Urquinaona". British techno veteran Aubrey weighs in with a fine remix of "Laura Palmer" that cannily turns the track into a melodious, hypnotic tech-house roller.

Review: Desire Records head honcho Ricardo Tobar is back but this time on Jennifer Cardini's unstoppable Correspondant; and why not right? The South American producer's penchant for classic 80s retro sensibilities of the synthpop, darkwave and EBM kind are right at home on this label given the niche its carved out in recent times. On "Red Sea", Tobar delivers something that sits somewhere between techno and early 90s goth; its tough four to the floor stomp supporting some soaring new romantic synth leads to stunning effect. "Eleven" goes all cosmic on us with soaring arpeggios and elevating analogue pads taking you direct to the stratosphere, while "Alvear" goes out all guns blazing with its grinding and resonating modulations: frantic, rapid fire 909 rhythms go off Plastikman style circa "Plastik".

Review: A new Carsten Jost album on Dial. Wow, this is a rather special treat, and we would call this a Juno weekly special. Apart from the fact that this dude makes awesome music, the producer has been purely busy running the mighty Dial label over the last 20-odd years, and this is his first solo LP since 2000's "You Don't Need a Weatherman". He's obviously though about this piece for a while because it is masterfully executed throughout, and there is little that Mr.Jost could have done to make it any better. That's because it is deep house made by someone who understands people, not merely dancefloors. In other words, these eleven tracks work in unison and, rather than making up a list of single, danceable tunes, he's decided to go for the journey approach, one which we've always got time and respect for. From moments of pure house magic, to downtempo chillers, and even subtle nuances of techno, this is the real deal. Another Dial masterpiece.

Review: Mr.K is exactly the sort of producer to fit into the Wheel&Deal imprint, a label whose sole purpose is to detonate seriously hazardous levels of low frequencies upon any listener of dancer. These five tracks all offer something different; "Chit Chat" feels like the sort of beats that Mala likes to get his hands on prior to a DMZ rave, and "Dope Fiend" is like its natural successor, a track with higher level of bass emanating from all corners. "O.G" is a slower, bumpier ride with an eerie crescendo of sonics, and "Pho" leaves plenty of smoke in the air with its hazy, imperceptible later of shady harmonies.

Review: With releases on Live At Robert Johnson - including two albums - Balihu and Uncanny Valley, Pagliara might seem like an unusual choice of artist to put out music on Ostgut. That said, the Italian producer has had a long association with Berghain and was even a regular at its first incarnation. In any case, "If I Try to Forget I Will Miss You Even More" sees him ride a pulsing electronic disco groove, while on "Time And Again" he provides a rougher version of that sound as a pulsing bass and raw drums crash and pound away. "To A Faraway Place", with its insistent chord builds, is the kind of track that Steffi might play in the Panorama Bar, but it's only a fleeting nod at the club's chosen soundtrack and Pagliara quickly swings back towards the left of centre - this time with the acidic downtempo epic, "A Passing Day".

Review: 39 tracks, 10 FX sounds and a full mix. This isn't any old slice of afternoon cake you might share your elderly neighbour or distant relative, this is a seven-tiered wedding cake full of every type of unhealthy, fattening ingredient you can imagine. And we're not stopping until we've chowed the lot. If you've feasted on Deekline and Solo's Jungle Cakes before then you'll already know how tasty this is; a selection of their own releases and similarly spirited cuts from the scene, all laced with dubwise, dancehall and skank-soaked soul. Highlights hang from every corner but you'd be mad not to peak at Aries & Gold's soul-flecked massage of Mr Benn, or Dominator & Logan D's brokeback bust-up "Cowboy" or Serial Killaz' savage repurposing of Freestyler's iconic "Entertainer". High calorie badness.

Review: A title that can be read in more than one way. "Keeping It Real" doesn't just refer to the track's vocal sample, or it's classically trained deep cavern sounds but also because it's the label's first vinyl outing. Level up business. Elsewhere "The Zone" is a contemporary techno-style dub track with palpitating drone subs, "Shapeshift" is powered by the groans of what we can only assume to be the undead (either that or some superb vocal processing) and "Combo", a springy minimal track that's tightly sprung by the swung kick and spacious dynamics. Cue Line: Keeping it really good.

Train Music (Andres Aguirreas Spicy Paracousia mix) - (7:05) 121 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release
from $1.87
Review: It is over to Sapporo's Jun Kimata aka BirdMan for the Forbidden Colours imprint out of Bilbao (Spain), who've previously delivered great work by the likes of label boss Aitor Etxebarria aka EL_TXEF_A, Eduardo de la Calle and Andres Aguirre. The Shape Of My Voice EP starts off with the driving and tunneling deep electro workout "Two Billion Light-Years Of Silence" that's dripping in futurist aesthetic, while "Track 2" is a more dystopian affair on this dark ambient/drone piece. Then we have "Train Music" which effectively bridges the gap between hypnotic techno and deep house (the label's preferred aesthetic of late) and rather inventively indeed. The "Spicy Paracousia remix" by the aforementioned Aguirre takes the track on wonderfully spaced out deep house journey over its glorious seven minutes. Nice one!

Dues Paid Fast/How I Like - (5:24) 111 BPM

Review: There will no doubt be much debate about the identity of the "hyped" editor behind GAMM's latest missive - the 'L' in his or her new moniker is, apparently, a clue - but it's the quality of the edits on show that matters most. Opener "Not Easy", a dubbed-out, chopped-up chunk of disco-funk sweetness full of meandering horn lines, rubber electric bass and woozy synths, is arguably the pick of the bunch, though the loopy, dewy-eyed soul-jazz attack that is "Dues Paid Fast/How I Like" is also rather good. Those looking for jazzier dancefloor flavours should also check "Jazz in Italics", a high-octane jazz-dance re-edit full of fluttering flute lines, sweaty drumming and fluid piano solos.

Teleniedziela - (7:57) 118 BPM

Review: Thanks to the sterling work done by the Very Polish Cut-Outs series, we're now all familiar with the previously hidden world of eccentric Eastern European disco. Now that label is no more, fellow Poles Holiday 80 are keen to continue its' good work. The Hotel Victoria EP contains fantastic reworks of four obscure, Balkan disco treats. It's packed with smashers from start to finish; check, for example, the acid-laden, muscular disco-strut of "Teleniedziela", the spiraling, rock-tinged camp of the charged-up "Zabawa W Stylu Folk", and the shuffling, filter-heavy sweetness of early '80s gem "Kta Dat Nam Deszcz". Best of all, though, is the American style disco-funk hustle of "Bez Tego I Owego", which contains some particularly wild organ solos.
