Review: Fingerman's Hot Digits imprint has packed in a lot of releases over the past 12 months, as this expansive roundup of the label's second year in business proves. Featuring 27 tracks and a bonus mix by the South Coast dwelling label boss, there's naturally plenty to admire. Highlights include, but are not limited to, the rolling, head-nodding grooves of Eyeco M's "Keeping It To Myself", the killer proto-house throb of "Tonight" by Bad Barbie vs Evil Smarty, the sexy, string-drenched disco loveliness of P-Sol's "Can't You See", LTJ's trumpet-boasting funk bumper "Fat Thing", and the hard-wired, bass-heavy rework of Julia & Company's "Breakin' Down (Sugar Samba)" by Melon Bomb. It is, though, all pretty darn hot.

Review: Halifax heavyweight Emperor finally unleashes the long-awaited beast that is his debut album and it's 50 shades of awesome. Rather than dish out a collection of the dark, tearing bangers he's become known for, he's licked up an all-armed hurricane of sounds and ideas; from the pixelated lift-off of "I Was" to the sweaty Upbeats drums of "Shapeshift" to the big breezy vocal drama of "Dispositions" and the rolling soul of "Thunder", this is a whole new creative level from Emperor as he plays by rules we've never heard him play by before. A proper album.

Review: Lately Leeds' Deelicious has seen his loose and groovy tunes grace the likes of Sound Exhibitions and Disco Fruit. Here he rolls out five sizzling new bangers. The urgent slice of socially conscious funk, "Lonely Town Lonely Street", kicks things off, "Trust Me" incorporates housier filtered loops into the mix and the title track is celebratory slice of disco-pop with some ace bloc-rocking breaks and punk-funk bass work. Elsewhere we enter orbit with the melodramatic sci-fi boogie of "Mechanical Body" and "Change Your Mind" is an amazing example of early underground dance music reconfigured by a 21st century perspective.

Review: Consistency is key with Voltage: no overblown hype or fanfair or 'massive' tracks.... Just proper classically trained dancefloor drum & bass. Here we find him doing the do on his own label Rollaz with four crisp originals. Highlights include the show-stopped bass twist and vocal treatment "Bell Riddim", the techno-like dynamic and pneumatic crunch of "Pulsate" and the instant party jump-up of "Dub Tickles" penned with originator badman Blackmarket. There's a fine line between Rollaz and absolute belters....

Review: Friction knows how to throw a party... Their "100" celebrations started in March and they're still going strong three months later! A chance for the label's artists and friends to stretch their skills and signatures, there's been some really exciting, subversion work throughout the series. This final piece in the puzzle is no exception; "Fourward" deliver their funkiest track to date, Karma gets all soulful, Total Science get all drifty and ethereal while Break simply reminds us why we love him. All four cuts glistening with long-lasting gold, Shogun can carry on celebrating their 100th release for as long as they like as far as we're concerned.

Review: Nebraska has been a busy boy of late, delivering killer material on both Mister Saturday Night and Delusions of Grandeur. Here he dons his favourite balaclava and joins Detroit Swindle's Heist. He begins with the groovy, loose and low-slung disco-house bump of "Khan's Bargain", which is also brilliantly remixed by obscure boogie specialist Tom Noble. The tempo increases dramatically on the wide-eyed deep house sprint of "The Blues", before Nebraska enhances his Balearic house credentials thanks to the blissful synthesizer arpeggio lines and swirling chords of "It Won't Be Long". The spacey, string-drenched shuffle of "Varkala" draws a fine EP to a close.

Review: Bristol's X-Ray Ted is about the light and fun party jams, no cool digger's obscurities welcome here. Here he serves four guaranteed floor fillers starting with "Mild Mild West", a loose-limbed disco rendition of the Good The Bad and The Ugly theme, next "Too Good" sees Aretha Franklin get a house-shaped whoosh under her backside, "EveryMoney" meanwhile sees some vintage soul fused with classic Kelis and ODB and finally "Hold Tight" sees the show close with some sizzling neon-flecked arpeggiated disco..

"Real Love" will ease you on the way back down to reality with its soul massaging subs and evocative female vocal textures. Two sides of the night covered with consummate skill.

Review: On his previous Midnight Riot releases, Joutro Mundo has always included a number of scorching reworks of Brazilian disco and boogie faves. Now, the fast-rising producer has gone one step further, serving up an entire album's worth of humid, summery reworks of authentic Brazilian fare. While a handful have previously seen the light of day elsewhere (see "Boogie Do Central" in particular), there's plenty of previously unheard revisions to get the juices flowing. Highlights include the synth bass, jaunty horns and party vibes of "Tropical Affair", the Leroy Burgess-goes-to-Rio boogie flex of "Morena", and the densely percussive, Clavinet-driven sweatiness of "Combo Funk". Oh, and a fine rework of an obscure Brazilian cover of Paul McCartney's "Coming Up" ("Paul In Rio").

Review: Like Power Rangers, when Level 2 and DJ Chap combine to create their Alibi super-project there isn't a crime that can't be solved in a 1000 mile radius. Superlative and strictly designed for the dance, there's a reason Bryan Gee is so evangelistic about them as the Brazilians lay down four twisted tales that include dirge-like halftime swamp sounds ("The Hornet"), bright and breezy vocal rollers ("Fire") and all-out bass discharge ("Hideaway"). The hype is real.

Review: On paper, this collaboration between veteran Balearic/disco/house fusionists Faze Action, and Zimbabwean drummer-turned-vocalist Zeke Manyika has all the makings of a humid, sun-kissed classic. Happily, "Mangwana" - a kind of late '80s Hugh Masekela Balearic afro-house jam full of punchy horns, chiming synth melodies and chanted African vocals - is every bit as alluring as you'd expect. The Waiting For The Rain-era Masekela influences are even stronger on the delicious A Vision of Panorama mix, while the Paradise '89 Dub pushes the track further towards dubbed-out New York house territory while beefing up the backing track a little. Elsewhere on the EP, you'll find two superb versions of the percussive, tropical '80s workout "Kumbengo" (including a heavy, Junodownload-only Dub), and the hazy downtempo goodness of "Chiiko".

Review: Whoever said that disco was dead was not aware of Dr Packer and his life-restoring scalpel skills. The cover of this eighth installment of edits reveals the good doc and colleagues hard at work resurrecting a giant disco ball and the sonic results can be heard on this mini-album. Highlights include the slinky clap-along, "Somebody Else", the noodle-bass moog boogie of "Xpand Your Mind" and the breaks-laden cocktail grind of "Tropical Jump". Good to hear disco has checked outta hospital and back on the dancefloor in full health.

Review: You can always bank on Subby releasing one massive EP every year. And this one's extra massive as he's brought four mates along for the ride. Complementing his already beautifully brutal style, each collaboration brings out a different side in the Newcastle producer: Maji tickles the jump-up darkness out of him on "Weapon Of Choice", Jaydan encourages a little off-beat subversion while retaining the dancefloor punch while Dub Motion complements Sub Zero's jungle roots with a delicious roller that's as soulful as it is dark. Finally we hit "How To Act" where Sub Zero and DJ Limited lay down the trippiest, most weirded out bassline you'll hear all week, month, possibly even year.

Review: Longstanding ragga-enthused jungle mischief-maker Jinx supersizes the EP concept on Ruffneck Ting. Ranging from classic jungle rolls and amen-shattering magic of "Wicked" to mid-'90s "Chopper"-style roll-outs ("Stick Up") via dubbed out sub-drenched steppers a la Potential Badboy ("Sticks & Stems") and absolute skank savagery ("Rebelution"), he shows off the many gully feathers in his cap with style and consistency. This is such a massive body of work, in fact, that in most people's eyes it would be considered an album not an XL-sized EP. To put it simply, you'd be crazy not to investigate this.

Review: Barely half a year has passed since their long-awaited second album Timeline and Glen and Zula return with four more alluring constructs: "Stand Firm" flexes into the darker side with deft navigation from Visionobi while "Ghost Racoon" goes all-out darkside with its pneumatic hammers and tongs. For deeper experiences head for the sub-rattled "Reunion" and the sublime "Shrine". With its swooning chords and rich orchestration it's near-classical in its dynamism and weight. It's not the title track for nothing... Shrine on you crazy junglists.

Review: Last spotted on Muzik Hertz, Midlands merker TZONE lays down his debut EP for Hazard's Radius. Each cut tickling a different side of the dance, it's the most widescreen snapshot of his abilities we've had so far... "Badman" shows off his inner skanker, "Hover Board" represents his love of squidgy bass and raw jump-up styles (and, quite possibly, his love for Back To The Future), "Money Business" is all about TZONE's understanding of tweaking bass so it's as brutal as Walter White while "Special Technique" is all about the classic jungle drums and gully sub grumbles. Authentic as it is heavy.

There are nine fine jams contained on Spring Thing comp, some of the (many) highlights include the sweet and tender boogie-pop of "Good 4 You" by the artfully-punned Serge Gamesbourg, the throbbing bass loops of the sublime "Closer & Closer" and the mesmerising fusion of punk-funk bass and sunshine keyboard melodies on "Brighter" by Dagfest.

Review: Ron & Neil is an all-star collaboration between old buddies Jim "Ron Basejam" Baron (Crazy P), and Rack 'N' Ruin boss man Neil Diablo. Pedre Son Aclat marks the project's first appearance, with the three original tracks sitting somewhere between shimmering nu-disco, sparkling powder house, and disco-influenced grooves. The title track sets the tone, layering up colourful synthesizer chords and melodies. While tasty, Man Power's bubbly, Balearic style revision - all analogue synths, cheap drum machine hits and sleazy vocals - is arguably more satisfying. "You Feel It" is a creepy, low-slung deep house/disco hybrid blessed with killer percussive flourishes and a weighty punk funk bassline, while "Tears" is a glassy-eyed fusion of warehouse-friendly electronics and disco-funk hedonism.

Review: Powerhouse institution Renegade Hardware continue to wind their operations up to a dewy eyed climax at the end of this year and Reflections marks the start of their final ever releases. A concept that celebrates the label's distinct futuristic, uncompromised signature while retaining its classic roots, this album manages to span 20 years deftly and authoritatively: Perez's halftime take on Future Cut, Ink's tribal steppery and NC17's tubular bass tones and classic jump-up dynamics are just three of many highlights on this album that ensures Renegade's contribution and influence on the scene will be noted right up until it closes down forever. Just two more albums to go. Sad face...

Review: Munich-based Alkalino (aka Lino Rodrigues) has been delivering top notch re-edits for years now, so there's no chance of him quitting, despite the title of his new series. We've seen the list of his upcoming releases, and these are certainly not his Last Edits. There are quite a few newbies on here, eight to be precise so there's a lot to choose from. Our favourites happen to be the dreamily seductive disco throb of "Body & Soul", the austere mechanics of New Order redux, "How Do I Feel" and the low slung driving space disco of "We Got It".

Review: Brooklyn's Razor-N-Tape reach out to the Lowlands and coax Hans Peeman into donning his Junktion alias for a new four-track EP on their Razor-N-Tape Reserve label. Living up to it's dignified and reserved billing, this release on the offshoot finds the Nijmegen-based Peeman laying down some luscious, colourful disco vibes that will brighten up any sun laden afternoon on the terrace. Title track "Hot & Bothered" sets the tone with a summery vibe underpinned by some bumping drums, whilst "I'm wishin'" glides with a subtle house bump and some wonderful vocal touches. "Fling Cleaning" sees Peeman veer off into disco chug territory, whilst "Visions of You" ends the EP on a soulful note.

Review: Given his credentials and track record, it's unsurprising that original disco and boogie artists are willing to let Joey Negro play around with their biggest hits. His first stab at this kind of multi-track remix, 2014's Remixed With Love, was such a success that he's decided to unleash another swathe of revisions over two vinyl double-packs. This edition features some killer reworks, including a sublime, on-point rearrangement of Gwen McRae's "Keep The Fire Burning" and a rolling, dubbed-out version of Grace Jones' "Pull Up To The Bumper" that rivals Larry Levan's classic remix. The veteran producer also successfully turns Pockets' "Come Go With Me" into a classic soulful house rub, and pushes Thelma Houston's "I'm Here Again" further towards disco anthem territory.

Review: Daniel Berman has decided to re-launch his Bergerac imprint, following an extended hiatus. Clearly, the Berlin-based producer wanted something big to kick things off again, and his own "Wonky Bassline Disco Banger" is certainly sizeable. Fundamentally a cheery, cut-up disco-house record, it's lifted into potential anthem territory by some choice siren sounds and a series of Syclops-like synth doodles. It's certainly his strongest material for some time, and will be everywhere over coming months. The bonus tracks are pretty darn tasty, too; "Jazzy House Extension" does exactly what it says on the tin - with extra jazz madness - while "Destined" is just plain odd. Strange as it is, it's also rather good.

Review: Could Om Unit's twist on Nasty Habits' 1996 classic "Shadow Boxing" be one the most crucial VIP contemporisations in recent D&B history? Arguably, yes. The rolling drums, the slight melodic twist on the iconic bassline, the sudden moments of space... Whether you know this from back in the day or it's fresh to you, this really is a literally perfect example of how to VIP an influential classic. "Something Ancient" sees Om Unit team up with Thing for a cathedral-level stepper smothered in deep breath pads and mystic textures that sits somewhere between Clarity and Tobin. Immense.

Review: Stafford's Dave Gerrard has been around for over 30 years so you can trust the DJ on this one. He's back on his usual stomping ground for more disco goodies on DJ Butcher's Chopshop out of Athens, Greece. He first takes the knife to the Jackson 5's "Dancing Machine" on "Generation 5" (great edit this one!), then he turns in an edit of a proper soul funk classic on "Repeat The Funk" (any guesses?) but finally he gives a Bill Withers classic a makeover on "You Got The Stuff". Class!

Review: Boy, it's their instalment of the This Is Night Bass series and, as always, it's a tight and severely jam-packed bag of pure bass-ridden quality. The rhythm carrying the best part of the release is one that locks into 4/4 mode, but the melodies, low frequencies and vocals contain something seriously UK about them. In fact, if you're looking for purist British house music with a garage flavour then you'v hit the right spot; it's as if these guys have tele transported back to 2000/2001, when the roots of dubstep were being laid-down from the foundations of garage and bassline. YES.

Review: Back in March, Ondule label boss Joss Moog and Sebastien "Around7" Guertau unveiled their 4th Sign project, launching with a fine collection of soul-flecked deepness. This speedy follow-up is every bit as alluring, with the French duo effortlessly floating between a variety of dancefloor moods and tempos. Contrast, for example, the smoky, mid-tempo jazz-house of "The Movement", the string-drenched, sumptuously soulful bump of "Deep Dip", and the near horizontal, slow house head-nod of closer "Lunatique". For those keen on more energetic dancefloor flavours, they've also included a pair of charged-up disco house smashers ("The Right Color", and "Hot Saussice").

Review: Cooking up a storm since 2009: for Ingredients' 50th feast they've recruited a collection of chefs old and new. Spirit cooks the starters. A life-long friend of the label since its earliest releases, his "Interstate" tickles the tastebuds with a pan-fried reese and peppered snare shots. Response and his brother Pilskin cook up a hearty main; detuned synths served on a bed of crushed drums and an old school reduction and a light spraying of jungle foam. Finally the bossman Clive teams up with Response for a bitter sweet desert with burnt crumb bass gloom and devilled drum roll pastries. Sonically scrumptious.

Review: Ali "Nebraska" Gibbs last outing on Mister Saturday Night, 2015's Stand Your Ground, saw the producer treating listeners to a quartet of tracks that touched on a multitude of house styles. This follow-up has a similar feel. He begins with the loose-but-bold drums, electric piano solos, disco strings and occasional punchy horns of "Done My Best", before dropping down into slower, deeper, dub-tinged territory via the toasty electric bass, stretched-out chords, mid-tempo grooves and pitched-down horns of "Look What You've Done To Me". He rounds off another fine outing with "S.O.S Dub", a crackling, unfeasibly atmospheric journey through dub house grooves, fluttering chords and creepy electronics.

Review: The subtitle of this album tries to downplay the talent of this rising re-edit producer, but the truth is that these cuts are anything but ill-advised. Chopshop label boss DJ Butcher wouldn't put out a record if it wasn't any good and besides, he's not known for his bad advice. There are 12 disco gems here to explore, highlights include the sparse, teched-out soul-grooves of Alain Toussant's rare gem "Night People, the deep and woozy Balearic funk of "Go Donny Go" and a delicious electro-funk-pop version of "Inside Out", as made famous by Odyssey.

Review: Whichever substyle he explores - from gritty, unabashed tech to melodic bliss - Nymfo has made versatility his signature. One of the few D&B artists who can appear on Renegade, Dispatch and Spearhead consecutively, his screen is one of the widest in the game. Case in point: this EP. From dreamy cloud-chowing ("Everyday Emotions", "Melting Pot") to Shogun-style MC-laced techy rollers ("Cheetah") by way of synth-led space-steppers ("Big Air"), Nymfo's repped a broad and highly accomplished spectrum once again. Genuinely something for everyone.

Review: Full throttle jump-up skills from Midlands duo lay the sonic smack down with two brutal workouts on Eternal Muzic: "Snake Charmer" builds around a classic piano arpeggio before dropping into a midrange bass sweep that's not dissimilar to Original Sin. "It's Not Over", meanwhile, goes more on a metallic, menacing robotic rampage with a Q&A that will be ringing through your very bones from now until Christmas 2067. Pure filth.

Following up the Akase side project he's involved in with Robbie Redway and some killer releases on Aus Music, Feel My Bicep and of course his own Graded imprint which this appears on; making it the label's third release already. "Blush" is a slow burning and emotive piece with an epic vintage synth arpeggio and soulful strings backed by the most restrained beat. "Outpost" gets a bit more fierce with a tougher beat and a free running arpeggio that reeks havoc much like Carl Craig's classic remix of "Falling Up". Finally "Holdup" hammers the message home gloriously with its off kilter yet hypnotic beat and sombre yet emotive atmosphere.

On the flip it's George Duke's turn, "Say That You Will" is you all know is a sultry deep soul number for lovers while "Party Down" is definitely for night people; this one is pitched up for optimum dancefloor effectiveness too!

Review: Despite hailing from modern day Norway, Lux Experience's heart remains firmly in the USA during the heady days of the 1970s. Nothing wrong with that as nothing really tops the thrill of the original disco explosion during that wild decade. Here he unearths four more long gems from that time and retweaks them for contemporary dancefloors. "Street Disco" is and accelerated proto-hiHRG opener, "Your Luv" begins as classic French Touch-style diva loops before expanding into more stripped backed boogie and "Freak Mouse" is a bass driven chant-along. Lastly "Prance With Me" wraps things up with some seriously elastic party vibes.

Review: Having contributed a stellar track to Gerd Janson's Musik For Autobahns 2 compilation, it's little surprise to see Leon Vynehall pop up on Running Back. Rojus (Designed To Dance) is an expansive eight trackaffair thati s likely to be as popular as 2014's Music For The Uninvited LP for Martyn's 3024 label. It's also predictably varied; contrast, for example, the drowsy ambient chords and twinkling electronics of opener "Beyond This", and the deep-jack-goes-rave sweatiness of "Beau Sovereign". Vynehall also finds space for the Balearic jazz-house swing of "Paradisea", the wall-of-sound Detroit deep house of "Blush", and the African influenced drum workout "...There Is You". In other words, it's a versatile cracker.

Review: The first compilation on Koze's Pampa label is a lovingly curated affair. It starts with the left field house of Herbert's take on Lianne La Havas and Ada's r&b-infused "You & Me", as well as DJ Koze's own hymnal take on Roman Flugel's "9 Years". Other Pampa regulars like Axel Boman are well represented and he provides the ultra-mellow "In The Dust of This Planet". Equally though, Koze also provides a platform for newcomers to the fold. There's the utterly bizarre, glitch-hop of Nasrawi and Funskstorung's contributions, and at the other end of the spectrum, wide-eyed deep house from Mount Kimbie and Jamie xx & Kosi Kos' pumping indie-dance "Come We Go".

Review: Tsuba's ten year anniversary - that's right, it has been that long already - has been marked with hit after hit from a wide selection of artists from across the house kingdom. In fact, for this 2nd instalment of the festivities, we have White Material frontman Galcher Lustwerk remixed by the inimitable Jimpster, with the latter putting a more starry-eyed mechanic onto the original; For Romeau complete the A-side with a vintage-sounding remix of "Pinball" by Williams. On the flip, Roy Comanchero drops the Chicago bass over a minimal sort of percussion groove on "Hypba". Kevin Griffiths adds a little acid to the jingly 707 beat of "Satori", and completes a stellar EP from the magnetic Tsuba.

Review: Already spotted on Rupture LDN this month, Spirit comes back with a second helping on Klute's ever-dependable Commercial Suicide. Taking the deeper route than his last EP, each cut on this three-tracker rolls out with real widescreen, pad-heavy system majesty. "Consciousness" is all about the hook, "From Creation" is all about the heavy atmospheres while "Without You" rolls out with a mid/late 90s Headz texture. Serious business here, no time wasters please.

Review: Russian disco edit fiend Valique serves up another hot Boogie Box and we're up to number three already! Highlight's on here not limited to Princess' smooth ergonomics displayed on the re-splice of the Prince classic "Sexy Dancer", Feel The Vibe's great cover of "Get Down Tonight" looped for your pleasure by Kc/Sub and they save the best for last with Mr Faded/Blackhead's (aka McFadden & Whitehead's) 1979 classic "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now". They are all 're-re-edited' by the way: by none other than Valique himself. Trust the DJ!

Review: It's become something of a cliche to point out Rayko's restless productivity, but it's nevertheless true that the Spanish producer does release rather a lot of material. To be fair to the Madrid man, this four-tracker for Midnight Riot is one of his stronger efforts. He begins with the life-affirming pianos and gospel vocals of "Hallelujah", before providing a sun-kissed re-dub of Fleetwood Mac's Balearic classic "Big Love" (here re-titled "Alone"). "That Sound" delivers an attractive blend of wiggly boogie synths, sharp riffs and fuzzy rock guitars, while "Get Loose" is a mostly instrumental re-recording of the Aleems' breakdance era electrofunk classic of the same name.
