Review: Emerging last year with a bite worse than his bark, rising UK D&B doggo Kanine has buried the game like a favourite bone, whipping up support from the likes of Andy C, Noisia, TC, Guv and many more in his wake. This Young Guns debut proves why...Big in hooks, heavy in weight, crisp in dynamic, his toxic fusion sits well across any peaktime board. Highlights include the harmonic riff devilry and Duskee's dark micmanship on "Warface", the hair-singeing spikiness of "Detonate" and the rampant fast-lane build of "Shapeshift". Who's a good boy?

Review: Danger by name, dangerous by sound: the rising Belgian brute dents the Digital Terror discography with four more bruising steppers. Collabo-wise "Turbulence" sees him teaming up with Nightfang for a laser-shooting riot act while "Empty Space" sees him barking at the moon with Kanine with some really pranged out bass groans. Solo-wise "About You" gets sexy on the vocal element yet militant on the guttural, spiked-out bass tones and "Extinction" is a mammoth of a track, stampeding with a harmonic bass riff and a relentless beats. Warrior level: dinosaur.

Review: The hype's been building. The beef's been cooking. This is one of Xtrah's most talked about EPs so far. Naturally the music speaks for itself... From the elastic purring drones and jazzy subtleties of opening track "The Embarkment" through the final militant dischordant stutters and pneumatic flickers of the final track "Fragments" this is a lesson in rolling, understated, uncompromised underground drum & bass. The tribal groans and cymbal splashes of "Disturbance", the skitty energy of "Tibetan Funk", the electrified sizzling bassline of "Babylon Shall Fall"... It's all about precision produced dark funk. Spacious and to the point.

Review: 48 tracks? Asbo you are truly spoiling us. The quality is as high as the quantity too; a selection of Asbo classics and brand new flavours we're taken from smooth silky rolling soul such as Westy's "Making Moves" and jazzy V-style thunder like Savannah's "Glide Away" to hurricane amen depth (Dawn Raid, Gold Dubs & Jinx - "Old Fashioned") and classic mid 90s style jump-up ruffage (Cabin Fever's remix of "Raw Dogs") via warm-as-toast dub soul a la Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion's "Talk Too Much" and Daffy's beautiful "Love Dub". And that's only an eighth of killer cuts on here. Easily one of the best tenners a junglist can invest this month.

Review: For those that are in the unknown, TQD is made up of Royal T, bassline queen Flava D and the iconic DJ Q. For reference, that ain't Qu from NYC; this dude is from Scotland, he's been a legend since the 90s, and has been a monumental pillar of the house scene ever since. UKG is the duo's latest LP for the entrepreneurial Butterz label, and it's an honest, direct vision of the enlarged UK bass movement from their point of view. This sublime selection of killers spans the full circle and makes absolutely no excuses for itself; the gear is tough, floor-minded and charged by a hefty load of bass. Grime, garage and house are mashed up good and propah. Like they should be. Dopeness...

Review: Since first dropping on wax in the autumn, this multi-artist affair has gone on to be one of Local Talk's most popular releases in years. It's easy to see why. Jamie 326 and Masalo's "Testify" is a fabulously urgent concoction - a low-sling, disco-tinged deep house bomb built around a restless rhythm track, impassioned, gospel style vocal snippets, and killer Clavinet lines. Sameed's dustier, sweatier "Can't U" offers a different slant on the same idea, offering a basement-bothering stomper that utilizes many of the same samples. Finally, the same artist delivers something looser in the shape of deep jazz-house jam "Dusty Jazz".

Review: Following a recent dalliance with Brooklyn-based Razor 'N' Tape Reserve, COEO returns to the loving arms of Toy Tonics with another solid four-track excursion. Happily, they hit the ground running with the rushing positivity of "Mydonna", a bumpin' chunk of peak-time house goodness built around some superb disco samples and a bustling groove. The accompanying, "alternate cut" smartly emphasizes some of the original instrumentation, whilst adding some subtle swing to the disco-house drums. On the flip, you'll find the deep, smooth and sensual "Torrow", and the breezy, atmospheric, piano-laden shuffle of "Coast To Coast".

Review: While the mighty Aswad once told us "Don't Turn Around", the even mightier Total Science have now advised us to "Turn Around"... And with its dreamy cosmic synths, surging vocal and classic snare rolling jungle break, we know whose orders we're going to believe. The fun doesn't stop there as the all star cast continues... Break joins the party for the bone-rattling Headzy tear-up "Big Time Winners", Calibre jumps on the remix tip with a delicate lilting twist on the Riya-fronted "Walk The Same Lines" and DLR taps in for the heads-down, purring-sub stepper "Too Close For Comfort". Heavyweight and high grade, this is an incredible EP.

Review: Junglists: this month your stars will lead you to great bangers from the long-standing UK bass comms expert Telekom. You'll meet a tall dark gully stranger who talks with a toxic bassline tongue ("Bulletproof"), you'll find inner peace through squelchy bass mischief ("Ego Trippers") and experience great fortune through elasticated low end of stuttering snares ("Absorbed") Later in the month you'll feel more energetic thanks to the hench D*Minds or Mampi style riff circa 2002 ("Pimpin") before concluding the month in blissed and blessy state of zen thanks to dusty chords and a sense-blurring drop ("1210 Technique") Thanks for choosing Junodownload horoscopes, see you next month.

Review: The words Chronic and Rollers should already have your attention. Throw in Sao Paulo's L-Side on selection duties and you've got a no brainer... This really is the creme de la future creme of international jungle. The purring subs and creepy vocal echoes of Euphorics' "Public Secret", the 1.21 gigawatt electrical current bass of The Invaderz "Underground", Jaybee's loose, slinky roller "Get Nasty", the immense supergroup roller magic of Serum, Jaybee & Dave Owen's "Pure Vibes", L-Side and Roger Bari's late 90s-flavoured space-bound jungle jam "Rock It". The list goes on. As on point as ever, Chronic are constantly smoking.

Review: Here we have a real meeting of minds with the esteemed re-edit label Gamm recruiting Glasgow's very own nu-disco veteran Al Kent to serve up some more of his fine work for our listening pleasure. There are just two cuts featured here, but who needs quantity when you can have quality, eh? "So Good" sees a sultry seductress heavily breathe her words over a smouldering Love Hangover-style twanging groove. "Victorious" meanwhile incorporates 70s disco rock, over-excited clavinets and bongos galore. Heavy-duty boogie vibes!

Review: Dream work makes the Team work... Asbo damaged 2016 hard with their diligent digging homage to seminal jungle architects Bizzy B and Pugwash with a slew of revamps, repurposes, refixes and VIPs. Bringing the whole project to a head comes this exclusive bundle that brings all 23 of the cuts together for the all completists. With some of the biggest names in jungle on board (Saxxon, Bladerunner, DJ Hybrid, Voltage, Gold Dubs, Aries and loads more) it's a precision celebration of old and new... From Saxxon's insanely heavy shake up "Public Enemy" to Voltage & Malachai's head-melting drum science on "Sweetie" to straight up classics such as the 96 version of instant vibe-out "Walk & Skank", this really is a beautiful piece of (team) work.

Review: Disko's latest digital-only release is a meeting of musical minds. It features two groovy, musically rich disco-house collaborations co-produced by sometime Large Music contributor Paul Rudder and fast-rising talent Tete de la Course. While "Cadillac Disco" - a tasty fusion of rolling, bass-propelled grooves, wild flute solos, punchy horns and cheeky vocal samples - is rather good, it's opener "Makin' The Magic" that hits home hardest. A smooth but bumpin' dancefloor shuffler with bold organs, jangling acoustic guitars and eyes-closed vocal samples, it sounds like the kind of track that will easily slip into both house or disco sets. Roberto Rodriguez provides the obligatory remix, gently tugging the track further towards disco-tinged deep house territory.

Review: Three years on from their last full-length excursion - the fine Borough 2 Borough on Delusions of Grandeur - Craig Smith and The Revenge return with their third 6th Borough Project album. Predictably, it's a fine set, with the duo tweaking their now familiar blueprint - think sample heavy, Balearic-minded deep house built around killer grooves and impeccable production - to guarantee a slightly more eclectic listening experience. So, while there are moments of locked-in dancefloor hypnotism - see "The Weight" and acid-gospel thump of "Tainted Dub" - they're accompanied by trips into wide-eyed, loved-up two-step territory (brilliant closer "Back Where It All Began"), seductive, synth-heavy dreaminess (Paul Joseph hook-up "Find Your Rhythm"), intoxicating downtempo chuggers ("Someday"), and much more besides.

Review: Whoever heard of a Siberian heat wave? Well Russia's Sunner Soul is just that - tirelessly providing warm and summery disco cuts from his icy bolthole. Here on the Lowdown EP we get four more of his delicious instalments. The title track is all twangy bass loops and The Hustle style flute melodies, "Dr Love" is a real banger, with a thumping kick propelling a loop clavinet riff and lots of spacey effects and "Wonderland Disco" spread a positive message of change over a snazzy disco-house rhythm. Lastly "Filtered Punk" displays a little French Touch in it's merciless filtering of some vintage boogie.

Review: The production force behind the unstoppable Harry Shotta, DJ Phantasy and Dextone dust off their hooky 2015 track "Refused" with two major remixes: "Dominator" adds a metal thrust to the build while paying full respect to the Sub Focus style textures and energy while Blackley turns the tones inside out with a whole new alien sound on the riff. Two killer remixes for two very different reasons - this is serious peaktime business.

Review: Last spotted on Low Down Deep last summer, Higher Stakes Sly returns with four more signature jumpy funk cuts. Teaming up with long-time conspirator Pacso for the first two tunes we're slapped silly by the 70s car chase wah wah guitars of "Honey Monster" and buzzed around a series of dirty warehouse floors on the classic bassline-focused "909". Going solo for the second half of the game, "Pull Up Riddem" is a dancehall stepper that drops into a game-changing reverse bassline while "Playing Games" builds with an almost Orbital-style synthy intro before kicking us in the nether regions with its warm but deadly hook.

Either way, we are all united under the big flouro H and right now they're celebrating their coming of age with a humungous 70 track collection. Yes, 70! Each cut handpicked to represent the London imprint's constantly evolving but always soul-touched and groove-laden sound are 24 exclusives such as Urbandawn's insane version of Reso's "Taiga", Fred V & Grafix's titanium colab with Metrik "Tension", Serum & Inja's already-massive "Blow Dem" and Whiney's remix of TC's chop-slapping "Storm Brew". Review: Considering Taxman typically sends out a key release once a year, the fact this has landed so soon after his "Amended" EP is already a blessing. The fact that the sounds on here are properly next level takes us into bless overload..."Scanners" has a unique rolling looseness thanks to some addictive shakers (and an elephantine bassline), "Wonky Riddim" lives up to its name with a strange trippy sci-fi feel while "On The Wire" is a classic gutter-chomping riot piece with an array of stretched bass textures. "Chameleon" plays counter to the ruffage with a cool cosmic funk vibe that's kinda reminiscent of J Majik's early 2000s work while "TDK" goes even further back to the jungle foundations with some head-melting drum edits. As with everything Taxman releases - this is serious business from start to finish.

Review: Cheekily, Todd Terje has decided to put out these remixes of forthcoming album track "Jungelknugen" before we've had a chance to hear the original version. While it's hard to know how revolutionary these remixes are - or otherwise - it's fair to say that both Four Tet and Prins Thomas have brought their A-game. Keiran Hebden steps up first, layering up looped, kosmiche style synthesizer refrains, wide-eyed piano motifs, low-slung analogue bass, and the kind of jazzy, off-kilter drum machine beats that simultaneously feel loose and sturdy. While undoubtedly impressive, it lacks the hustle and bustle of Prins Thomas's interpretation, which is drive forwards by heavy, bleep techno style sub bass and the producer's own groovy disco drums.

Review: We've barely recovered from his EP on Radius last year and Dez returns with another forthright four-tracker, this time on Serial Killaz. "Full A Ganja" sets the scene with fine-tuned balance of synth, skank and a deadly riff-heavy drop. "Mr Kali" sees him teaming up with Franko 'man of the mo' Turno with a space-aged metallic hook that's countered with just right amount of dubwise soul. "House Of Madness" lives up to its name with a loose drum swing, subtle creepy hammer horror strings and a fittingly head-twisting hook. "Rockers" shuts us down on a whole new rhythmic flex; minimal alien dancehall with a dangerous edge, it's an innovative way to climax yet another forward-thinking EP. Don't leave us hanging Dez.

Review: The Teflon Don returns to LDD with four more of his signature seismic bass sessions. "Bomb Squad" sees him colliding with Turno once again for another drama damager where big strings wrap tightly around a serious groaning bass hook while "Think First" whips up a storm with a classical lead that plunges into a crisp and infectious riff. Dig deeper into the collection for a frenzied Q&A-characterised master blaster ("History Making") and a thundering orchestra-charged harmonically-heaved shredder ("Art Form") Serious rawness.

Review: It would be fair to refer to Dino Lenny as a "veteran": the Italian producer has been churning out dancefloor hits since the dawn of the '90s. This release sees him join forces with Cajual and Hot Creations regular Doorly for a loving tribute to the joys of club culture. The action centres on a meandering, largely spoken vocal describing a mesmerizing late night dancing experience in "The Magic Room". On the lead version - a tasty re-edit by Lenny and Seth Troxler - this is accompanied by "Lazy" style pianos, and a chunky, disco-tinged house groove. The low-slung guitars and bass are pushed to the fore on Doorly's energy-packed remix, while Luke Solomon doffs a cap to the jazz-flecked boompty sounds of Chicago on his busy rework.

Review: Despite the EP cover, this UK bass producer ain't no joker. He's recently produced the likes of Wiley and regularly delivers his merciless bass attitude through imprints like Crucast. The eponymous original track marries frenzied 4 x 4 beats with meandering wobble bass riffs and cheeky samples. On the remix duties Grime delivers a totally cool hip-hop influenced version that's full of moody headnodding vibes, Skepsis meanwhile goes for giant stadium-sized build ups and shrill bass riffs whilst last but not least Holy Goof turns in an amalgamation of all of the above with added 8-bit bleeps for good measure.

Review: It's been a while since we last enjoyed the straight-up ruffage styles of Liz-E but the wait's been worth it... And it's come with a Trigga-sized stamp of Shadow Demon approval. Press play and hear why; "Ducks & Ladders" lives up to its quirky name with a sinewy bass riff, chop-slapping wooden block hits and an energy that will crunch in any mix scenario. "Nightwalker" takes more of a techier trip with Dimension style sweepers and pneumatic drums that could pummel a truck. Serious business.

Review: Frankfurt innovator Rajko Muller returns as Isolee, working his magic this time for The Drifter's rather impressive Maeve imprint; which in recent times has brought us fantastic work by Ed Davenport, Baikal and Ripperton. "Pisco" is a slow burning groove with phased marimbas that cause a hypnotic dream state, while "L5 Syndrome" dives deeper: this smooth and introverted trip is definitely suited to the early night as it is for the afterhours and reminds us of his seminal, earlier works in the nineties for imprints like Playhouse. Finally, the title track is where Muller saves the best for last; this dubby, lo-slung groove is drenched in delayed and reverberated aesthetics. More great work by one of electronic music's true innovators.

Review: Nothing says happy new year better than a 33-track jungle package. Ripping into the year in the same spirit they shredded 2016 with, DITJ have delivered something serious special here as some of modern jungle's finest creative minds: the never-failing DJ Hybrid slams the hammer down with the enormous VIP of "What Else", RMS continues his rich vein of form with some dagger-like samplecraft on the dancehall scorching "Burning Up", Section conjures up the spirit of Raindance past with some crafty drum-dicing "Black Magic" while Evade will turn you inside out on his trippy-assed amen omen "Reverse"... And that's just four of over thirty moments. Trust... We can't stress how massive this is.

Review: Fresh from denting Southpoint's discography earlier this month, Arkwright returns with four new deep bruisers on Wheel & Deal. It's business from the very beginning as "Bludclart" develops with a really natural rolling pace while "Black Mesa" leans things out with vast moments of dubspace, sudden flurries of atmospheres and some crazily stretched bass textures and "Homeward" applies more of a hip-hop/beatsy approach with its vocal cuts and latent funk in the rhythm. Finally "Fat Stacks" kicks its slo-mo heels with a warped sub vibe that really lives up its name. Watch out for those trumpets bruh.

Review: In 1976 the unstoppable music monster that is disco finally broke out across New York City, turning it into the coolest place on earth, probably before and certainly since. It was the first time that DJs ventured into the studio to create jams aimed directly at their dancefloors. Now Bare Breaking even have painstakingly assembled about 30 of the most essential tunes from this time. What you'll encounter here are the ground breaking edits and remixes by some of the most important figures of the period including Walter Gibbons, Tom Savarese, Jellybean Benitez and John Luongo. Priceless.

Review: During the 1990s, Chez Damier and Ron Trent's Prescription Records did more than any other label to define the sound of Chicago deep house. The label's reputation is such that it's still talked about in hushed tones, with lesser-known back catalogue nuggets remaining in-demand items with DJs and record collectors. This superb, double-disc compilation from Rush Hour tells the story of the label, gathering together both much-played underground anthems (Trent and Damier's "Morning Factory" and "The Choice", the proto-boompty-via-St Germain jazz-house of Angora's "Enchantment", and so on) and sought-after selections. Thrillingly, the collection also boasts a trio of previously unreleased Ron Trent cuts, all of which are superb.

Review: One of Germany original junglist forefathers Bassface Sascha and partner in grime Feindsoul return to Ruffneck Ting following their cameo on the Bristol label's epic The Xtraordinary League Of Junglists album last year. Packing four tracks we're treated to the full spectrum: a blunderbuss Taxman-style stormer on "Patchwork", a more stripped back mid 90s Playaz-style bassline on "Steppin On My Feet", a savage tripletty swagger on "Worldwide" and a riffy jam that wouldn't have sounded amiss on Dope Dragon back in the day. Cool operators operating correctly from Manheim to Bristol: Ruffneck Ting never disappoint.

Review: Fresh from the runaway success of his Yussef Kamaal project with Yussef Dayes, Henry Wu returns to Eglo Records for the first time since 2015. While it's jazzy broken beat opener "Deep In The Mudd" - co-produced by Hardhouse Banton - that's naturally getting most attention, there's plenty to get excited about elsewhere on the EP. Check, for example, the hissing jazz of "Boards & Skins", Kaidi Tatham's deep, sparkling and effortlessly soulful re-make of "Just Negotiate", and the ultra-deep, Rhodes-laden bliss of "Reflections", a beat-less treat. Also worth checking is the EP's other Hardhouse Banton hook-up, "Century", which charges off on a high-tempo, mutant P-funk tip.

Review: Luca Trevisi is LTJ Xperience, an Italian producer who began his career in the 1980s. As resident DJ at two of the most famous Italian clubs of the time: Kinky in Bologna and Cap Creus in Imola, he was one of the first Italian jocks to spin house and to reintroduce black music, jazz and latin-bossa classics from the '70s. These are the kind of tracks that gave birth to the acid jazz and rare groove movements. The Beggar Groove LP is his new album, the fourth dedicated to the 'research' of disco/funk, from its origins to today's rhythms feelings on the dancefloor. The smooth acid jazz of the opening track "Way Down" would make even Ludovic Navarre stand up and notice, while soulful and compelling deep funk of "Fooling You" can equally impress. According to the label, the title track of the album is the most demand track by the artist and never released digitally until now.

Review: The simply titles Art of Tones collection gathers together some of Ludovic Llorca's numerous contributions to the ever-expanding catalogue of Fred Everything and Mike Fresco's Lazy Days Recordings label. It boasts a range of original productions - the old school house bounce of "The Right Moment", the Italian dream house revivalism of "Elephants", the tech-tinged deep house soul of "Unstopped", and so on - plus a cluster of remixes by likeminded producers (a fine rework by The Revenge of "Unstopped", and a sparkling, Balearic deep house rub of "Elephants" by Fred Everything), and even a forgotten remix by Llorca himself (his bumping, string-drenched dub of Tortured Soul's "You Found A Way"). Predictably, it's an accomplished and entertaining selection, full of melodious, club-ready treats.

Review: "If You Can't Beat Em" demands you raise your lighters. Bad news for non-smokers. Good news for skankers thanks to the swaggering, well-measured dub hook that really digs in on the breakdown. Incredible news for the mandem who love a gully riff. "Jazz Hands" puckers up with more of a classical smooch thanks its majestic swooning piano intro before going all-out sloppy snog with its butt-grunting bass tones on the drop. Two killer tracks loaded with contrast... These are hard to beat.

Review: After years of killer cuts on Fokuz and Celsius, longstanding Austrian soul seekers Roy Green & Protone make their Spearhead debut with four on-point rollers and a selection of well-welcomed collaborations... "The Healer" leads with a breezy, roomy chiming aesthetic that fools you into the idea you're dreaming before "Why Don't You" kicks you hard in the wake stakes with its rolling fretless bass and lingering pianos. "Carpaccio Funk" continues the real bass feel, this time with a loose-stringed double bass chatting away under low key trumpets and a classic break that has SG's stamp all over it. Finally "Arrivee" shuffles in a sweet closure. Spacious and restrained it's the type of track that fits in everywhere and never leaves your playlist.

Review: Hot on the heels of his debut EP for Clone Royal Oak - the jaunty, swinging deep house shuffler that is "Valentine's Groove" - KiNK returns to the Dutch imprint. It sees label mainstays Serge and Alden Tyrell join forces to deliver a scorching rework of the previously unheard "Beats". As you might expect from the basement-loving duo, it packs a serious punch, thanks in no small part to their surging drum machine rhythms and expert use of build-and-release arrangement. The experienced pair are masters of creating and retaining energy, and their percussion sounds are always as jacking as they come. In other words, it's another club slammer.

It's evident from the moment the cosmic drum arrangement and ambient textures roll out on "An Order" to the final echoes of the 23rd century soul "Space 2 Breathe". Darker dancefloor thirsts will be quenched by purring workout "So Unloved", the data-spiked glitch-funk "Untitled Pattern 47" and Anile's super sharp stepper remix. Fancy a cuppa?
