Review: Some of us reach for the stars. Other, more superhuman-like, people reach for entire solar systems... And get them. Superhumans like yung Tsuki who has consistently smashed every door down in sight since emerging 18 months ago. Crafty with the riff magic, every bassline he conjures could make your nan shake and these are no exception; the pitch-shifting bassline mutations on the title track, the rattling organic drum fill and high/low Q&A riff on "RGB" and the venomous hook on "Terror" are just three certifiable shakers. Stay tuned. For his next trick Tsuki will be reaching for the universe...

Review: Greezey by name, successful producer by nature: this slick-haired south coast hero continues to demolish in every direction as he makes his EP debut on Elsta's Murky Digital. Four tracks in total, each one primed for different corners of the dance "Most Wanted" slaps down straight in the centre of jump and tech with a subtly twisted wobble on the bassline, "My Way" is the rumbler of the set with a groaning bassline that murmurs ominously beneath the surface while "Love Dem Style" takes a disco dodo and slaps it back into existence with a barbed soul focus. "Headache" closes the show on a deeper, slinkier flex with lilting keys, a tightly-coiled two-step and a stern message in the sample. Most wanted by name, essential by nature...

Review: Bass gurus Wickaman and Mavrik return to Jungle Strikes with another clutch of precision executed, party-firing D&B edits. The first two are worked around some of the most iconic hooks to hit the dance in 1990: "This Is Goodbye" builds up around an iconic sax hook with added vocals from a play-full source while "Oceans 909" sends us out deep into the Pacific with a cult clarinet line to use as a paddle. Finally "Time To Move Over" takes us just north west of Bristol with a turbo-charged take on a mid 90s game-changer. All three respectful twists on classics every single person on your dancefloor will know... And indeed want to kick off to.

Review: While Dave 'Joey Negro' Lee is a man of many talents, it would be fair to say that his speciality is creating impeccable blends of disco, boogie and soulful house. That's exactly what you get from "Must Be The Music (Original Disco Mix)", a brilliantly breezy and club-ready excursion full of slick female vocals, Nile Rodgers style guitars, undulating strings and colourful, boogie style synth flourishes. In some ways, it feels like a slightly more house-centric take on Lee's similarly minded work as part of the Sunburst Band. It's accompanied by a superb dub, where Lee's chosen musicians take it in turns to deliver killer synth and guitar solos over a chunkier, boogie-driven beat. In other words, it's another strong release from the Z Records founder.

Review: It's 25 years since the release of Main Source's Breaking Atoms album, one of the finest full-lengths of hip-hop's renowned "golden era". To celebrate this fact, Geordie producer Smoove has put together "Main Sourced", a cut-and-paste tribute that incorporates elements from tracks sampled by the group across the celebrated set, alongside carefully selected rap samples. As you'd expect from a man of his talents and experience, it's brilliantly done, achieving a near perfect balance between the needs of the dancefloor, the dustiness of the original album, and the demands of Steinski style cut-and-paste productions. In other words, it's pretty darn good.

Review: Here's something to cheer: the first EP from Dimitri From Paris and DJ Rocca's collaborative Erodiscotique project following the release of last year's superb debut album on BBQ Japan. As usual, their inspirations and musical reference points tend towards the vintage. Opener "One For Frankie", for example, smothers a vintage Chicago house groove with the kind of dreamy, positive and melodious musical flourishes that were a hall mark of Frankie Knuckles best productions, while "Zanzibar" pays tribute to the bustling, percussive, synth-heavy pressure of early '80s NYC and NJ "proto-house" productions. "Don't You Feel The Same", on the other hand, wraps sweet Balearic synth lines around a chunky, "French Touch" style disco-house groove.

Review: Six years have passed since Maceo gave the world his debut album Life Index. In that time he's solidified his status as one of techno's most untouchable soul men who's unapologetically ungoverned by tempos or boxes or any type of formula. He's also become a father, which is what this (and last year's "Journey To Solar") are all about. Rich in sentiment, hope and fear, each cut reveals a deeper layer of Maceo: the star-gazing optimism of "Kepler's Journey", the Bristolesque industrial dub soul of "Indigo", the careful countering of vulnerable emotion and roboticism on "Was Away My Tears", the list goes on. This is Maceo at his most heartfelt and arresting.

Review: Reviewed by Jungle Strikes: Hadn't come across Ownglow before but always worth checking anyone on Hospital out. We were not disappointed! From what we heard here they seem to be destined to make a mark. Can hear why they have found a home on Hospital records. All 4 tracks have their own merits and some great vocal and bass work but for us the R & B and Hip Hop influenced 'Glo Mello Flow' is the standout track here. Great use of the filters on the sample tie in so well with the bass and horn stabs to create a really effective piece of infectous DNB. Even has shades of early High Contrast in there. Love it!

Review: Berlin retro electronics from synth geniuses Thorsten Quaeschning and Ulrich Schnauss. Synthwaves pays homage to the masters of the past, yet feels fresh and enchanting. Rich, neon-lit patterns are modulated and mutated with precision into several post cosmic sounds to drift to. During two intense weeks in the capital, Quaeschning and Schnauss (both students of the great, late maestro Edgar Froese) are said to have locked themselves in a studio full of vintage synthesizers, analogue sequencers and drum machines and here are the impressive results. These tracks are so evocative and life affirming as you'd expect given the credentials of these producers: in particular the dreampop and nu-gaze prince Schnauss' contribution. As with the finest Tangerine Dream soundtracks, it's the kind of music that paints vivid pictures on the canvas of the listeners mind.

Review: Italian duo Alessandro Parlatore and Marcello Giordani aka Marvin & Guy appear next for the Life and Death powerhouse for a stellar new EP. These four tracks 'explore parallel worlds through expert synthesizer sequencing and cavernous vocal features.' Esoteric melodies mixed with Athena's stream of consciousness recital guarantees dance floor energy on "Superior Conjunction". "Arpadia" with its hypnotic theme compliments the title track's restrained drama, while the Fantastic Twins' spoken word performance elevates "The Train of Fantastic" to an altered state of being. Fresh off some killer releases this year for Correspondant, Disco Halal and Permanent Vacation, these guys are bringing some top tunes and are truly on fire at the moment.

Review: Critycal Dub are on a roll right now. Covering all bases with their trademark Sao Paulo barbed soul, they've been delivering some impeccable cuts of late. These four included: "Moment In Time" is built up around a simple, beautiful piano hook and softly textured dubwise vocal sample, "Reckless" takes us to a darker side with its subtle b-movie style textures and star-gazing rave vocal before "Losing Time" takes us down a minimal soul rabbit soul where a lilting piano line is the only thing keeping reality in check. Need more input? Jump on the soft jazzy spring riff of "Find Out" and realise you're actually 10 foot in the air. Happy landing.

Review: Kraak & Smaak singles are rarely anything less than party-starting treats, and this latest outing is no different. It helps, of course, that Eli Escobar - a producer known for delivering colourful, disco-and-boogie flavoured house hits - is on remix duty. His version of "U R Freak" is arguably a little dreamier and more musically intricate than his singles on Classic, but still packs a punch thanks to bustling organ stabs, bongo-laden beats and some on-point synth bass. The rest of the EP is taken up by Mood's modern boogie-meets-deep house remixes of "Prescription". Eric Biddiness makes his presence felt on the vocal version, rapping and singing over a squidgy, synth-laden backing track that perfectly tiptoes the fine line between club-ready fare and radio-friendly cheeriness.

Review: Recently, Gerd Janson has been using Running Back not only to release new material, but also reissue some of his favourite old house and disco cuts. He's at it again, here, re-releasing Alex M's It Works, a relatively obscure Mateo & Matos production that initially appeared on Final Cut back in 1992 and has since become something of a sought-after item. The title track remains a near perfect fusion of Larry Heard style deep house dreaminess and the rhythmic swing of New Jersey garage. You'll find a similar blend of dreaminess and low-end hustle on the two versions of "Without Thought", while "Lakeside Slang (First Mix)" peppers a tidy groove with impeccable electric piano solos and hazy vocal samples. Arguably even better is the jazzier, Jovonn style "Lakeside Slang (The Mix)".

Review: Averaging a cool 1.7 releases per month so far in 2017, the unstoppable Jedi returns to his spiritual stomping ground Audio Overload with four more firebrand fighting tracks. "Everyday" contains one of his most infectious hooks to date that sets the scene for some well known ragga chats mid-way. "Everyone Fall In Love" plays the big tease with a sultry vocal and synths fluffing you up before the toxic drop ensures full bass messiness. "Gonna Do" takes a completely different trip with a barnstorming 4/4 feel to the main drums and a divine hardcore piano hook. Finally "Submarine Lair" shuts down with a one way tongue-in-cheek trip down the sub aquatic poop deck. All hands on decks!

Review: Longstanding Soul Deep crew member, Aussie soulstepper Severity belies his bleak artist name with this show-stopping vibe tryptic. Laced with dreamy atmospheres and evocative chords and textures throughout, we treated to a rainbow of positive moods: the daydream hurricane and loopy filtered hypnotic vocal of "Loveint", the surging, spine-melting vocal and LSB-style rising stepper groove of the title track and the grand finale "Like Dat", a track that bids us adieu with a star-gazing groove, soft-but-soaring synths and an alluring spoken word. Rewind dat.

Review: Last year, Mat Chiavaroli popped up on Quintessentials with his first EP since 2012, a collection of tasty deep house cuts titled Swan. It turns out that the well-received EP was merely a taster for No Stranger To Madness, a debut album almost six years in the making. While there occasional downtempo moments - see the Balearic ambience of opener "Introduzione", gentle beatdown grooves of "Storia Losca" and smoky R&B shuffle of P-Lok hook-up "Latexxxnite Enemy" - for the most part the material is groovy and club-ready, with Chiavaroli drawing on all manner of classic U.S deep house tropes. Highlights include the sun-kissed jazziness of "Whoja Vu" and the Chez Damier style goodness of "Jeep Ridaz".

Review: The mysterious Masker returns to Audio Danger with his first full single release. Following the theme set in his debut on "Whipped Up" on "The Hydra" earlier this year, the message is clear - groaning droning bass hooks over rattling, tightly-sprung rattling breaks that resonate with all styles in the drum & bass cannon from tech to jump-up. "Shadow Web" is mean piece of work with truly demonic undertone to its spaced-out bass licks while "Victim" gets a little more venomous with its sharp two-step and waspy mutant bassline. Debut singles don't hit with much more authenticity or craft than this - Masker needs your attention.

Review: Here's a glorious selection of 12 bright and sun-drenched moments destined to be heard daily at the world's coolest beach clubs this summer and inevitably soundtracking a million gorgeous sunsets in Ibiza. This edition features exclusives aplenty. There are two album-only tracks; Tommy Awards gets an Ambient remix from Balearic's Jim Breese. Then The Madrigal blasts off with 'Ride To The Moon,' a completely unique track that's refreshing to hear. Three tracks were previously unavailable digitally, including the debut from Nancy Noise, Olefonken's spacey remix of Hubbabubbaklubb, and Steve Cobby's tropical-jazz remix of Penelope Antena's Tradewinds. Other highlights include Cantoma's 'Abando,' plus an incredible, modern interpretation of the 80's classic Southern Freeez from Paul Murphy. BALEARIC 3 captures the ineffable spirit of Ibiza - perfectly accompanying that unique moment when the golden sun meets the gleaming sea. It's destined to be a classic, go-to album you'll reach for again and again.

Review: On the other side of the great, giant pond, the cause of bass music has never pushed more so than by LA's AC Slater and his Night Bass label. Sometimes its output can be raucous and underground, but sometimes the label can be commercial too. Either way the output is always totally lit. "Come Back" is strictly in the latter camp, a hook up with Shift K3Y, it has resulted in a super infectious and uplifting banger, with rolling bass, skippy beats and more build ups and break downs than you can shake a stick at!

Review: Heavyweight hooks and blunderbuss bass through and through, rising UK new-gen artist Phenom makes his debut on Unauthorised Audio with four wide-ranging but hard-hitting flavours. "Institution" grunts with a Taxman-style high pitched bass texture, "Sweet N Sour" rises with more of a sense of mischief and a lower, subby bass hook that's reminiscent of the old Full Cycle sound and "Drug Dealer" offers no refunds with its hard-hitting, relentless sandpaper riff energy. Finally "One Man's Vision" leaves us on a high and wanting more thanks to its Tyke-style left-sided quirk. You can't say phenomenon without saying Phenom.

Review: Bully Beatz is back and he's here to make you suffer... Pounding out four bruising riff-heavy workouts on the radar-ready (and rising) Mutated Resonance imprint, the result is a case of complete mosh meltdown. "Hunted" leads with a groggy, swampy bassline. "Brain Damage" takes a hammer to drive its bouncy message while "Suffering" gets more twisted and brittle with its electrified distorted bassline. Saving the best till last, "I Know Kung Fu" ignites with a classic early 90s techno style intro before switching into a total roundhouse bassline that guarantees KOs each and indeed every. You gonna bark all day little doggies?

Review: Following a release on its sub-label, Nick Harris brings his A Sagittariun project to Hypercolour. The title track resounds to cinematic orchestral flourishes and moves rather skilfully from rolling break beats into dance floor friendly kicks. "The Pathway" offers no such musical distraction and centres on tough, insistent kicks, a succession of filtered breakdowns and splintered percussion. To mark his appearance on the label, Hypercolour have commissioned US producer Matrixxman to rework "The Pathway". Taking the tempo down, his version has a cavernous, spacious feel. The kicks feel like they are submerged, but Matrixxman keeps the dance floor focus thanks to the use of rickety percussion and wild horn stabs.

Review: Los Angeles bassheads and Jelly Bean Farm bosses Squane and Rees are back with more nasty low down bass shenanigans on the Illumination EP. Starting out with the guttural street level grind of "Grable" before the brooding deep dubstep journey "Shards" takes you well into the void. Elsewhere, "Automotonic" goes for a more futuristic and dystopian vibe on this experimental cut full of bleeps and sci-fi sound FX creating some real atmosphere to immerse in. Closing out the release is "Aphotic" which introduces some industrial textures over its half time beats which make for some very rolling and trance inducing riddims this side of the Autonomic or Exit Records sound.
