- Established in 1995, Om Records has established itself as one of the USA's leading imprints in house, downtepo and nu jazz circles. Based out of San Francisco, Om's most famous son is Mark Farina - responsible for the label's long running and very popular Mushroom Jazz compilation series that documents current flavours of instrumental hip-hop and other downtempo excursions. Alongside Farina, Om have put out music such luminaries as Miguel Migs, DJ Sneak, Andy Caldwell, Derrick Carter, Greenskeepers and Radio Slave. More recently the label has been reaching out to the UK, taking on acts such as Hot Toddy, Underworld and Groove Armada.
Ostgut Ton Germany
- Ostgut Ton is the label run by the (in)famous Berghain/Panoramabar nightclub in Berlin. Housed in the austere surroundings of a disused power station, the club has come to symbolize a new generation of European house and techno. Resident DJs such as Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Norman Nodge, Steffi and Tama Sumo often release their solo material on Ostgut Ton, thus maintaining an in-house, family feel to the organisation. The ongoing Berghain and Panorama mix CDs have proved increasingly influential, with efforts from the likes of Tama Sumo, Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock succeeding in both reflecting and shaping the sound of contemporary electronic music.
- Founded by Josh Wink and King Britt back in the mid nineties, Ovum has become one of the USA's most established labels dealing in cutting edge house and techno sounds. In the space of fifteen years, the Philadelphia based label has put out literally thousands of tracks whilst establishing a roster of well respected artists and producers. Whilst King Britt is no longer involved, in recent times Ovum has put out releases by D'Julz, DJ Sneak and KiNK as well as having some classics in its armoury courtesy of Levon Vincent, Boo Williams and Aaron Carl.
