Review: Having released a decent album on Ovum earlier in the year, M A N I K swaps sides for a suitably deep, boogie-influenced single on Culprit. "She Watches Me" offers a near perfect balance between deep house groovery and 808-heavy '80s electrofunk smoothness, with the choice vocal samples adding a slick soul feel. "Crazy" goes down a similar route, adding acid house bass and 3030 tweakery into the melting pot for good measure. A stylish EP is completed by The Revenge's rework for the title track, a loopy and fluid deep house revision that recalls the US-influenced sound of Ali Ooft's FOTO label.
