Afterhours At Juno Download

Review: It doesn't take Uri Geller to work out that Not Not Fun's latest signing are pitching their music at the witching hour, and they've done a marvellous job of creating a hypnagogic sound world in which to exorcise their somnambulant demons. Wraith-like furls of melody prowl around barely audible murmurs of beats, capturing a sorrowful elegance that calls to mind Vangelis or even some of John Carpenter's more delicate moments. It seems inevitable that a project steeped in this kind of concept would come off feeling like a soundtrack, and true enough there's a neon-lit romanticism at work here which puts the likes of the Drive soundtrack to shame.
