Review:
Brighton's Alphabet City is clearly destined for the nu-disco premier league if he keeps dropping bombs like this! "Colder Boogie" is a gloriously mournful mid-tempo electro-house yearner that swaggers along in a melancholic stupor - evoking memories of awesome Noughties Belgian labels like Strobe or Suicide. Dicky Trisco meanwhile, steps in, puts an arm round its shoulder, says 'cheer up mate' and takes it out dancing where there's music and lights and lots of pretty girls. Pete Herbert also delivers a mix that's cleverly somewhere in between the previous two. Hot stuff!

Review:
Always keen to indulge in the new talent as well as the established, Under The Shade turn to Alphabet City for their next release. The producer has already turned heads with releases for Traveller Records and the Kojak imprint, but this might be his finest work to date. There's a booming quality that runs throughout the glistening mid tempo bump of "Feels Like" which demands play at high volume, from the solo arpeggios of the opening bars to the crisp drums and frosted vocoder flourishes. Lithuanian duo Downtown Party Network (remember them?) awake from their production slumber with a remix that adds some weight to the percussive bump and introduces a rough new bassline for a totally different kick. There's also another original Alphabet City jam in the shape of "Love", which spreads some heavy Moroder vibes over rich layers of rhythm. UK stalwart Toby Tobias remixes the track, opting for an upwards reaching synth monster which you need to check!

Review:
DJ Ionic's Finnish disco-boogie label Kojak Giant Sounds goes digital with this re-issue of a successful single from a few years back. "I'd Like To You" is some baddass electro-boogie with a heavy kick adding that extra thump needed. "Poyson" is a slow and tight Larry Levan-style funk jam, with extra-elastic bass and a tough talkin' diva to boot!

Played by: Alphabet City, Slow It Down, Golden Fleece, Alkalino, Juno Recommends Deep House, Marvin Zeyss, Manhattan
Review:
Killer four track EP of sumptuous deepness here from the Much Love imprint, with James Johnston, Alkalino, Alphabet City, Bartellow and Roman Rauch all stepping up to the plate with uptempo house jams. Johnston's title track takes on an almost proggy hue with a killer titular vocal hook, while Alkalino & Alphabet City's insouciant key-driven "Dolve A La Discoteca" has 'Ibizan terrace party' stamped indelibly across its forehead. Bartellow's loopy, jazz-fuelled slice of house exotica ("Perhaps Strang") leads into the deepest of the lot - just check those chords on Rauch's "Space Places"!
