Amoss At Juno Download

Review: Amoss is definitely unfolding as a one to watch as time goes on and this release on Horizon's is no exception. Kicking off with "Beartrap", it's all tense, hissing hi-hats and eerie SFX for the first part of the intro. Tough drums set the tone and as the tune drops we are plunged into a world full of subterranean bass, pummeling drums and groaning subs, with a Renegade Hardware edge to the proceedings. "Headrush" is an equally excellent venture with tripping beats, powerful bassline and warping synths adding a deeper texture to the piece. Miss this at your peril!

Review: Hot up and coming new duo Amoss returns to Horizons for no less than their third release this year. The pair sprung onto the underground D&B scene last year with their signature sound, which treads the deep and tough divide nicely with oodles of class. "Minus" is just such a number with disorientating sci-fi SFX circling some crunchy breaks and throbbing b-line, making for a lovely late night rumbler. "Splitface" is a sharper cut, with the sound of pouring rain adding a horror movie vibe from the off, whilst tense, metallic stabs and terse, ticking breaks serve to increase the tension.

Review: D&B duo Andy Tweedale and James Evans build on their past Amoss releases on Renegade Hardware, Dutty Audio, Dispatch and more with this fired-up four-tracker on Horizons Music. "Throwback" rides some militant tech-breaks, while "Secondary" keeps things mean yet dubby by throwing a host of sounds through delays that float nicely over the mix. Pick of the bunch though is the eerie, spooked jump-up of "Footloose", which uses a host of percussion hits and rim shots to freshen up the rhythms.
