Review: The revered German house label continues its habit of splitting releases between artists with impressive results. Patlac aka Patrick Muller delivers a distinctive take on underground house with "Midnight". Centred on a mournful bass, Muller adds in the odd burst of white noise, crashing, flailing snares, and, to complete the seduction, the kind of chiming bells that Efdemin pioneered. Annette Party's "Moreno" is also an unconventional track. While it features the dry beats so beloved of tool house, it's the eerie chords and muffled vocals - that could be the product of a late, whiskey-soaked night on the town - which set it apart.
