Sometimes, with disco, the twee factor can really go up to 11. Here though, psychedelic beat meister Auxiliary Tha Masterfader gives us the "Dark Side Of Disco". The original is a slice of doom-tingle arpeggiation reminiscent of early Black Strobe and also appears as a longer, more minimal dub. Remix-wise Tronik Youth delivers a charmingly shimmery "Paradise Dub", Dubka goes for the full Chemical Brothers-style acid and Horse Meat Disco legend Severino delivers the best of the lot - a searing, Patrick Cowley-style hiNRG pounder.
It's time for some deep psychedelic disco now, courtesy of the brilliantly named Auxiliary Tha Masterfader. "Masterfader Theme" leads with a hypnotic bass walk that gorges its own groove with filter flicking charm. "Mirrorball" follows on a very similar funky bass vibe but with added Vocodered vocals and a more textured melody on the synths. "Let's Go" finishes the set with a more dreamy motif, complete with wah-wah guitars, slap bass and a chorus so sweet and simple even your mother's humming it. Remix-wise the Cosmonauts get busy on "Mirrorball" not once but twice! Like everything else on this EP both of which require immediate attention...
