Review: Bam Bam Dealers have been around for yonks, gleefully fusing reggae, dubstep and old skool jungle with a healthy dose of cheeky humour. Despite their vintage, Ancient 'Tings is their first release since 2009. It's a typically tongue-in-cheek release, with "The Hitcher" making merry with a Mighty Boosh vocal sample, twisted noises, sub-bothering bass, dubstep rhythms and occasional blasts of Amen breaks. "Sucker" is a more straight up skanking reggae/dubstep fusion featuring a breezy vocal, whilst "On The Run" wobbles and shakes like Chris Moyles on a treadmill. Silly, but very, very good fun.

Blazing The Chalwa by Bam Bam Dealers on DBRS Cue Track
Blazing The Chalwa - (5:08) 140 BPM

Review: Bam Bam Dealers step up with a superb dubstep offering, imaginatively entitled "Blazing The Chalwa" on Dirty Baz's Rhythm Selection. From the off we are treated to a deliciously bass heavy whirr fest with grinding synths, buzzy basslines and snapping snares setting the tone for the piece. Bleepy melodies dance among rallying vocal cries in the intro before the track soon progresses into a low slung swaggering number with a dubbed out soundscape with a touch of Rusko in the synth work. Get your teeth round this bass heads.

Review: Bam Bam Dealers have succeeded in carving out an interesting and unique sound here in their Old Tings EP on Dirty Baz's Rhythms. Multi-referential piece "808tees to the 90tees" kicks things off with a sparse, chiming intro before it drops with a shudder of bass into a rustling little roller with whirring subs and shuffling breaks. "The Burial" too juxtaposes light, rolling percussion with whomping bass to huge effect whilst sampling Leviticus' "Big, Bad and Heavy". "Flatliner" finishes off with more reverbed vocal, sirens and battering bass burps.

Review: It's been a wild old couple of months for Dirty Baz's Rhythm Selection as they continue to stoke up the steppa's fires with long-burning dubs like this. Following their recent Ancient Tings EP, the Bam Bams let loose with this one-off single skanker. Rolling on an infectious swing and lolloping bassline, this entire five minutes is all about the vocal drop that smacks of Marcus Garvey. Rock-steady in every sense of the word, this is one deal you really can't miss out on. We're unsure who Dirty Baz is, but we're sure glad he's in business. This is a killer.
