Review: The mighty Dutch trio Black Sun Empire come straight outta Holland with us an immense follow up to their last album Lights & Wires. Taking things back to basics, it's 100 per cent D&B here, taking on the neuro and tech end of the spectrum with full force, and featuring collabs with Noisia, Foreign Beggars, Rido and many more. Kicking off with the intense, industrial noise of "Feed The Machine" we are plunged into the deep end with their pounding bass, maxxed out sounds, synth manipulations and gruelling subs. Make sure you check out the fabulous "Dawn Of A Dark Day" with its catchy, urban lyrics and aggressive, stabbing beats and warping motorbike bass as well as the gloriously melancholic vocal of "All Is Lost" which is juxtaposed with the insane distortions and squeals of the main tune. Each tune is incredible.

Review: Black Sun Empire have spent almost the last two decades producing some of the most intense neurofunk around, after helping create and form the sub-genre with their unique trance and hardcore influences. Their latest LP, From The Shadows, was met in 2012 to acclaim and a feeling of relief - they hadn't changed, they hadn't swapped their sound for something else; here is a Drum & bass collective who are both consistent and bound to push the limits of their sound. Now returning in 2013 with a remix EP featuring the likes of Prolix, Icicle, June Miller, Telekinesis and Memtrix, it's time to go hard or go home. Dark and destructive from the word go, BSE aren't about to let their apocalyptic sound rest up any time soon.

Review: Subsonik doesn't mess about, diving straight in and remixing two absolute belters from darkside soldiers Black Sun Empire and Quadrant & Cease respectively. First up is "Crash Bunny", which he re-works into a discerning dancefloor bomb with stuttering synths and cool percussion. "Rage & Rapture" undergoes a similar treatment, with a trance-like, sci-fi vocal-led intro and spaced out atmospherics, it drops into an epic adventure with rapturous synths and euphoric SFX. One for the ravers.
