Review: Following the formula set by XL Records on their 2010 album made with Gil-Scott Heron, soul star Bobby Womack is given a pleasing sonic overhaul on this album, produced by label-boss Richard Russell and Damon Albarn (returning the favour after Womack appeared on Gorillaz' "Plastic Beach"). Adopting a much more spiritual and meditative tone than previously heard from the 68-year old from Cleveland, songs like "If There Wasn't Something There", "Deep River" and "Please Forgive My Heart" are tender, deep yet still imbued with the funk of his cross-generational roots.
