Review:
Majestic album from Calibre, who has long been heralded as a genius in D&B circles. His sixth studio album does nothing to dispel this belief and signals a return to his early noughties heyday when he knocked out sublime and understated but fully formed musical gems for fun. "Condition" has a slightly sunnier disposition than his 2010 long player Even If, but still retains the beautifully melancholic touch that has become Calibre's trademark. Standout tracks "Who's Singing" and "Mirage" are both haunting lessons in liquid and the tougher edged "Garbage Man" and "Schlager" are built for maximum impact. A must have.

Review:
The Irish master of D&B / jungle returns with this release on his own Signature imprint and wow, are we in for a treat! Continuing in the classic Calibre vein, these are dutifully considered, well refined and beautifully polished tunes, forthcoming from his next album due out later this year. "Foreign Bodies" is a super smooth roller with lilting b-line, whispering echoes of vocal, delicate SFX and crisp, clapping breaks. "Ugly Duckling", it's ruder, nastier and downright dirtier brother, contains rambunctious, late 90s style jump up drums and a rough b-line to please the crowds. A huge release; we eagerly await the album.

Samurai Red Seal get massive props for this release, which sees four more examples of Calibre's diverse approach to the art of D&B. The title track is pure steppahs delight, rising from the ether into rigid upright syncopation until a vintage junglist bassline comes soaring in, whilst "Dogshit" is anything but, with intricately layered beats fighting through the dystopian fuzz. The music matters just as much on the final two tunes, with the slick arrangements demonstrated on "Touch Me" and "Free My Mind" bound to satisfy the old skool heads, the former in particular thanks to dazzling array of amen filled rhythms.

Review:
Belfast's Calibre once again delivers that trademark smooth, liquid D&B on this new EP. "Jungle One" leads things off and the undulating percussive rhythm keeps the vibe aimed straight at the floor, as does the chiming "Thrust" which contains a bassline that spills messily out of the speakers. The glorious title track "Judgement Day" might be the stand out though, with a vocal appearance from DRS beautifully integrated into the tracks arrangement as two note piano hooks and string samples sweep out over a rolling beat. Judgement Day is an EP that highlights the skill and sophistication of Calibre's production yet again.

The renowned and revered Irish master returns, this time with a release on Kasra's Critical Music. "Piano Bizness" is all lilting, melancholy piano keys, minimal beats, ticking hi-hats and an airy soundscape. It develops gradually into a lovely little roller with delicate rhythms and echoing vocal element. Its accompaniment "Smooth Baby" is another gem, featuring warping b-line, snapping, clicking drums and a quirky, cheeky character which will no doubt make it a surefire hit with hardened Calibre fans new and old.

Review:
Now approaching veteran status in the D&B game, the man like Calibre continues to roll out consistently tight productions at a furious pace. Twelve years, seven albums and untold single releases down the line and his hunger shows no sign of abating. This latest piece for Total Science's CIA label sees him offer up "Reno", a minimal stepper with swirling pads and sci-fi vibes, while flipside "All Day" brings the junglist pressure with deep subs, rolling breaks and a dubtastic vocal snippet. This man can truly do no wrong.

Review:
Signature drop Calibre's best work to date with "Steptoe." A deft halfstepper that displays rigid programming and sumptuous bass weight, this is a subtle killer from Calibre. It has hint of jungalism and the peaceful melodies set it apart from the rest of his work. B-side "Silence" is less refined but rolls out a worthy number in itself.

Review:
Ah Calibre, will you ever cease to make interesting, pigeonhole slamming tunes that intrigue as much as they sparkle? We sincerely hope not. "Temple Step" is yet another class example of his experimental adventures; following a similar path to his 2009 hit "Steptoe" it's loosely halfstep drum & bass with traditional dub tendencies, but a mere description will never suffice - the proof, as always, is in the listening. Or mixing; with stripped back principals like "Temple Step" it'll roll with anything you choose to mix it with. A genuine DJ delight. "Simple Emotion" takes things up a gear and into D&B territory, but it's carried with the same 'less is more' approach. Yet another fine Calibre release.
