Review: Hatched is a taster for a forthcoming compilation on Claude Von Stroke's label and shows why Dirtybird has thrived where other labels have failed. The label boss' collaboration with Eats Everything, "Ignorance is Bliss" sets the tone, as a jerky house groove features heavy claps, insistent bleeps and a catchy vocal intoning 'we're sailing across the river'. A1 Bassline and Sascha Robotti's contributions are more stripped back, with heavy drums and nagging rhythms - and in A1 Bassline's case, a filtered siren riff - prevailing. But the more spaced out tracks impress most and the swirling chords and hissing percussion of SFX's "Kingdom" makes for the release's highlight.

Review: Despite Claude VonStroke's many years of experience as a producer, it's only on this excellent track, in collaboration with Jaw, lead singer of the dOP crew that he's worked with a vocalist. All VonStroke's hallmarks are there; the funky, minimal bass, rhythmic snap, but the falsetto vocal delivery adds a welcome human element to proceedings, whilst the spacious, suspended organ note adds a touch of majesty to an already excellent track.

Review: This single-track salvo offers pant-wetting excitement for those who like their grooves fat, weighty and blessed with copious amounts of bass. It sees Dirtybird boss Claude VonStroke join forces with up-and-coming Sounds of Sumo label bosses Kry Wolf for a bit of the other. In practice, that means swinging, garage-influenced tech-house beats, thunderous low-end growl, assorted chopped-up vocal hits and just the faintest whisper of chiming melody - killer.
