Review: In its original format, "Sonata" is an elegant deep techno track. Minimal without sounding too pared back and dreamy but still strong enough to work on the dance floor, its lush strings and tinkling melodies flirt together against a slinky rhythmic backdrop. Max Cooper's remix ups the tempo, with the UK producer dropping a rolling rhythm that retains the central melody and which breaks down into off beat drums - without losing its dance floor appeal. However, it's the Spieltape version that really goes out on a limb; focusing on a bouncy, soaring bassline, its mid-tempo beats are reminiscent of 90s trip-hop, covered in a neon trance glow.
