Review: The Homebreakin' label has always known where the party's at. While others choose to go deeper in search of nu-boogie perfection, Neighbour's imprint consistently delivers unashamedly fun music built on the twin influences of P-funk and original electrofunk. This EP from newcomer Cyclist features plenty of that tackle - most notably in the various solid disco-house and nu-disco remixes on offer, as well as original cuts "Pocket Money" and the sprightly "Bass Face" - but impresses most when its sidestepping convention. Lead track "Prime Cut" is a particular treat, fusing heavy synth-funk bottom end with the kind of delightfully Balearic appreggios recently unleashed by Hudson Mohawke.
