Review:
Detroit producer DJ 3000 shows his musical side on Hotel Oasiz. Instead of his typical pummelling percussive drums, he treats listeners to spacey synths and a pulsating electronic groove supporting the sensuous female vocal on the '12" mix'. The instrumental version offers pretty much the same arrangement, minus the vocals, while the beatless take focuses on the synthy melodies and angelic vocals. Alexis Tyrel's reshape is geared towards the dance floor with dense, housey beats and surging chords underpinning the sweet vocals, but Robert Hood's remix is the highlight. Layering the vocals until they turn into a hypnotic chant, the arrangement is subsumed by an evil acid bassline that's every bit as visceral as his minimal work.

Review:
Motech Records prides itself on the diversity it gains through collaborations. For their next release, we see the ever evolving sound of label boss DJ 3000 merging with the synth mastery of Esteban Adame and the driving momentum of Ben Sims. The collaboration with Adame sees a Chicago influence manifest itself in a dark and driving way, joined then by the kind of ethno-percussive elements that have shaped Motech as a whole. For all its drive and forcefulness, this release still carries enough funk and groove to keep it level.

Review:
The current wave of Detroit techno producers flex their creative muscles on this remix release. Honorary Motor City producer Mark Broom gets the release off to a flying start with a slamming version of "Meridian", its slamming rhythm augmented by screeching sirens and noisy stabs. Orlando Voorn's take on "Coat Of Arms" is similarly upfront, its pulsing groove racing towards an epic climax. However, when it comes to melodic grooves, the locals shine brightest. Mark Flash's tribal take on "Her Smile" features a mournful Octave One-style bassline and heart-stopping string stabs, while DJ Bone's version of "Meloudic Landscapes" effortlessly balances pummelling beats and firing percussion with epic, key-changing chords.

Review:
An interesting fusion of styles here, as Japanese downtempo/electronica types Antennasia remix the latest missive from veteran Detroit tech-funker DJ 3000 and occasional collaborator Diametric. Given the disparate styles and influences of all involved, this "Equitorial Soil" remix could have been a bit of a sonic mess. Instead, it's really rather beautiful, delicately fusing snappy electro rhythms, charming piano flourishes, swampy synth washes and echo-laden live percussion. Diametric's poetic spoken word vocal sits proudly atop this decidedly cosmic concoction, providing the final piece of a musical jigsaw of epic proportions.
