Review:
A welcome return back to the fray for Strictly Kev's DJ Food alias - a sturdy building block of Ninja Tune's faultless reputation for delivering breaks and beats unlike any other label. Ahead of a new Food album, Kaleidoscope, due in late November, this release finishes a trilogy of EPs that also included "One Man's Weird Is Another Man's World" and the Ornette Coleman-referencing "The Shape Of Things That Hum". Australian no-wave legend JG Thirlwell guests on the abrasive breaks of "Prey", while "Discovery Workshop" takes in jazz and rhythm 'n' blues with thrilling effect. On a more classic Ninja tip though, check out "Magpie Music" and its chiming, Steve Reich-esque samples and coruscating rhythms.

Review:
Do you ever watch old Woodstock footage and think 'wow, we'll never, ever be as cool as our skinny, long haired, glorious moustachioed hippy forefathers'? If the answer is yes, head immediately to The Amorphous Adrogynous's Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble remix for 17 minutes of total sonic oblivion. Jethro Tull style flutes a go-go, huge tub-thumping drums, wild organ riffs, distorted bass and wizardly guitar solos, it's an incredible piece of music that would make our Woodstock ancestors cry with envy. If your answer to our initial question was 'no', then do not panic - there are two other versions that last a more conventional six minutes, but they pack an equally funky, organic, air-guitar-inducing punch. There's also a great cover of The The's "Giant" on here too. DJ Food at his finest.

Review:
The first DJ Food album in 11 years, and a welcome return to Ninja Tune institution Strictly Kev on this freaked and brilliant album. Rough and deliberately scattershot, it aims to create the sonics of psychedelic rock but using samples - a method that pays off gloriously on tracks like "All Covered In Darkness (Part 1)" and "The Illectrik Hoax" - and with the trademark use of obscure spoken-word samples, there's also a pseudo-narrative thread that runs throughout the twelve tracks. A rare guest spot from The The's Matt Johnson sees the singer on fine form on the double-bass driven "Giant", while other vocal contributors include JG Thirlwell, Natural Self and 2econd Class Citizen. An ace album from a producer making his transition to the digital age as engaging as possible
