Review:
The Tru Funk label is a consistently strong destination for funky mash-ups and breaks-heavy bootlegs, and they've outdone themselves this time on this latest volume of their "Party Breaks". Some highlights include Naughty By Nature getting layered over a silky disco/hip hop hybrid beat on "Clap Your Hands", while '70s Scottish funk stars The Average White Band get their tight sound rejigged by Jayl Funk on "Honk The Funk".

Review:
A host of breaks talents get together on this new release on Grits 'n' Gravy, with D-Funk and Some DJ merging a Jurassic 5 accapella, Primal Scream's "Loaded" and a pile of top drums and bass synths to create the party-stoking title tune. Tom Drummond and Philly Blunt work up more of a disco/nu-funk beat on "Drop The Chalupa" while Drummond drops his solo delight "I'll Be Round", throwing in samples from Sly and The Family Stone, George McCrae and Funkadelic amongst others over some thrillingly chopped up drums.

Review:
Hailing from Belgium, this guy has gone from making harsh and accelerated chipmunk-voiced beats (often of the juke/footwork variety) to deeper stuff. Here the slower, throbbing "Make That Booty Clap" is remixed by a number of names: The Martin Brothers go electro-meets-Chicago, while Zombie Disco Squad push the jackin' levels into the red, Plastician goes slow and evil sounding and Mark Starr goes for a stripped down (pun intended) trap style workout.

Review:
If anyone ever tells you The Four Seasons' disco bomb "Oh What A Night" can't be 'badboy'd up, you are legally allowed to slap them in the face with a pair of headphones. "Wild For The Night" takes said classic (and one or two other cheeky samples) bang into the future with booty shaking glee. Elsewhere we find the equally glittering "Ghetto Disco". Loaded with a vibrant horn and organ hook and a bassline that splutters funk juice every which way but loose, it's yet another slice of guaranteed dancefloor dynamite from The Funk Hunters.

Review:
Swiss booty dealers Tremendo launch a new series and the title says it all. The label's established funk sound is still in abundance, but it rolls with a heavier bass twist. In some places the low end urgency is more obvious than others - DJ Soo and Tim Livingstone's earworm bassline rips through "Boom!" with true musical mischief while Father Funk's "Feel The Beat Y'All" is less dirty and more cheeky with its classic swing motifs and occasional wobbles. Elsewhere we hear Jayl Funk pay homage to classic 60s funk, Trotters and Telephunken munching on raw squidgy bass and El Bomba getting all slinky and sexy. Get dirty.

Review:
A very classy set of instant party starters from the Tru Funk stable, with BMD getting wild with the Isley Brothers' classic "It's Your Thing". Warson & Chudy deliver some serious hip-hop wobble on "Find The Funk" and drop the Slim Shady beat over "Ghetto Bounce". The real gem, however, is Jayl Funk's "Funky Song" - riding a classic call/response soul sample over a rock solid nu-funk beat.

Review:
A host of mash-up treats with a breaks edge on this latest release from the Tru Funk label. Beak Machine's brilliantly camp electro classic "Break Dance Party" (written by Village People svengali Jacques Morali fact fans) gets a very fun overhaul by Warson, who also reworks Sylvester's "You Make Me Feel" accapella over a nu-funk beat. Warson & DJ Noz also bring some wobble to Labelle on "Ghetto Sisters" while the chopped up disco of "Sometimes" is kept nice and simple yet floor-shaking at the same time.
