Review: The veteran Russian DJ who first made it big in the 90s, presents his 10th studio album, Don't Be Scared. Vadim has stated that he very much wants this record to be seen as being a break from the past, and upon listening to the 13 tracks here, he's certainly achieved it. "Hide N Seek" begins proceedings in a skewered Bollywood manner, "Lemon Haze" is slow electro-hop and is darker than we've come to expect from Vadim, "Lost My Love" is moody, broken up soul and "Bally Umar" riffs off 8-bit baile funk. Throughout the album an introspective take on soul is present as on "Vah Vaow" but things end on a synthy high with "Floating Tiger".

Review: This album takes ten of the juiciest cuts from the veteran Russian DJ's 10th studio album, Don't Be Scared, and presents them in instrumental form. Vadim stated that he wanted the album to be seen as a break from his past, and when listened to in this new context, this is more apparent than ever. Minus the vocal distractions, what we are left with simply exquisitely produced electronic mood music and beats. In short, an excellent listen and one that will also appeal to electronica fans originally put off by the hip-hop style vocals of the original release.

Review: This veteran Russian DJ has been enjoying a very successful period of late - releasing two versions of his break-from-the-norm 10th studio album, Don't Be Scared and another album by his new band The Electric. "I'm Feelin U" is culled from the former and is a retro electro soul jam with big doomy synths, 8-bit bleeps and samples of police sirens as we as the expert vocals of Greg Blackman. Of the remixes provided, it's the dark acid-hop of Mind Elixir's mix that gets the goosebumps going. Vadim has also included the bizarre soul-meets-gangsta vibes of "This Could Be".

Review: Clearly not content with having just released not one, but two, editions of his recent 10th studio album, Don't Be Scared, veteran Russian DJ Vadim is back with an expanded edition of Life Is Moving, the album he recorded with The Electric for the evergreen BBE label last year. Featuring the rapping talents of Chicago native Pugz Atoms and vocalist Sabrina Jade, this new edition brandishes a worthy 18 tracks that veer gloriously from the arpeggiated hip-hop of "Toot Toot" to glamour tinged electro pop in "We Rollin" via the retro Philly soul-isms of "So Now You Know". Doesn't sound like a Vadim LP? Well no but it still sounds wonderfully unique and vivid.

Review: Much like Lionel Richie in 1983, veteran Russian DJ Vadim can't slow down of late! Lots of releases are followed by expanded or instrumental editions. Here, in the case of his new electro-hip-pop band The Electric, it's both. Without the vocal intrusions, the music on this LP paints an equally vivid, but different picture: fLako's remix of So Now You Know becomes quirky, leftfield funk, "You Can Try" becomes tense thriller soundtrack material, "The Way It Is" becomes tres chic cocktail party material and "The Electric Company" is beautifully naive electro-pop.

Review: Not a week goes by without some kind of DJ Vadim release. This one has a killer back-story: Vadim and Spanish musician Mendoza were all set to release this EP some years ago. However the master copy disappeared on a flight to Peru (a virus also put paid to the back-up files). It seemed all was lost until by chance Mendoza heard his songs being played by a Peruvian bootlegger, which lead to shady meetings with all kinds of backstreet characters, eventually resulting in the release of this quality fusion of Latin vocals and hip-hop beats.
