Counterstrike & Dean Rodell - "Headbanger" - (6:54) 175 BPM
Two strikes of technoid D&B from this trio of renegade German producers, with "Vampires" by Counterstrike and Receptor using a palette of mutant techno sounds over a riotous jump-up beat. Counterstrike's hook-up with Dean Rodell, "Headbanger", is just as uncompromising - with wildly compressed drums piercing through a mix of glitchy squelches. Hybrid D&B/techno madness.
A tremendous effort here from some sterling artists who traverse the boundaries of bass music, distorting sounds and manipulating frequencies to the extreme... behold the Subland EP Part 2. Kicking off with Current Value's low slung snorting cut "The Impact", it's all stuttering drums and whirring SFX a-plenty here in a decidedly bleak soundscape. Loop Stepwalker ups the ante in his searing dubstep riddim "Immortal Feelings" which juxtaposes a sparse, contemplative intro with tearing main part. Dean Rodwell's "In Rain" follows with enormous belches and bass bellows, before his follow up collab with Species "Home" which ends the EP.
