Review: Rapidly becoming the ubiquitous producer of 2012 even before his LP drops, Distal is at it again with this collaborative effort for Tectonic. HxdB has been steadily garnering praise for his somewhat glossy 140bpm shufflers, and his contribution comes to bear on Distal's wilder tendencies on the restrained and melodic "Booyant". It's a playful track which gets even more jovial once Archie Pelago gets his mitts on it for a remix. Never before did you expect to hear a jazzy saxophone on Tectonic, but it makes total sense in the midst of this madcap and utterly brilliant remix.

Review: An absolute classic from two American future-bass heads, with Distal most well-known for his inclusion on Soul Jazz's Future Bass compilation and Hexadecimal having previously impressed with 12" on Mindset and Echodub. "Typewrite Tune" in both its guises here is simply essential - a hugely clever future funky jam with some thrilling tech edges, the VIP features some outrageous gliding chords while the original is dry and centred around the percussion loops. Definitely one for fans of Night Slugs and Hessle.
