Review:
No nonsense neurofunk from Dose on TeeBee's ever-reliable Subtitles imprint. Techy, punchy and riddled with myriad intricate drum fills, "Hardwired" rolls and rolls. A great DJ tool for dark dancefloors; the charms of this Noisia-on-a-mellow-day flavoured number is that it's understated, allowing you to really relish in the groove. Accompanying cut "Caffeine Dream" is a nippy, skitty sniper of a track with more edge than U2; this is in your face, snarling, gritty D&B. Ridiculously heavy stuff.

Review:
Proving that the D&B scene is very much alive, kicking and active across the world, Kiwi producer Dose steps up with some smart stuff on Presha's Samurai label. A long atmospheric intro paves the way for a weighty bassline roller with shimmering atmospherics and soulful waves of vocal in title track "Reason Being". It's got a dark, dancefloor edge that will appeal to Renegade Hardware veterans, but errs on the side of caution so as not to scare away the more musical and melodic. "Helpless" makes a good bedfellow, with its driving energy, ticking breaks and bass eruptions.

Review:
Hardcore and drum & bass; not a combination that's really been explored before but Dose is about to change that with his own blend of hard-hitting beats and OTT cyber atmospherics. "What Lies Beneath" is a sharp departure for Shogun when you look at their releases over the years but it's hard to deny this track's dancefloor appeal to a generation of ravers who want their bass harder than ever before. "Simultaneous" is a whole lot more Shogun, with its deep rolling rhythm and leering, lurching bass. Working on the basis of these two tracks alone, Dose has got a helluva career ahead of him making crowds of people lunge towards the floor in sync. Look out.
