Review: If you're looking for a dub techno record that doesn't sound like a poor imitation of Basic Channel, then Sobriety is for you. The title track is a slamming affair with hissing percussion underpinning deep, layered chord builds. As its name suggests, Advanced Human's 'Dirty Chord' version makes the central elements sound grubbier, supported by a rugged rhythm. In a similar vein is "Pornographic Priestess"; the drums are tough and the chords churn and filter mercilessly. The remixes don't depart from this approach, with the Ground Loop dub remix following a stomping direction and Ground Loop's Sukubus version adding in shaking percussion and irresistibly gloomy chords.
