Review: Duffstep continues to impress us with his genre-crossing works on both his own label Join The Dots and now Electric Minds. He first came to our attention last year with his superb 12" - "Know You/More Lies" - on Saigon Recordings and the young producer shows no signs of slowing up as we enter 2011. His debut album is due out this month and is a fantastic collection of tracks that clearly exhibit Jeremy Duffy's versatility and creative flair, joining the dots as he does, between different genres seamlessly. Here, in "Close" he blends house rhythms with a dubstep soundscape and a deep, soulful groove. Remixes come courtesy of Hreno & The Mole and Yam Who respectively, who both slow down the tempo and inject their own unique flavour to the track, making for an irresistible release.

Review: This batch of Beatvandals floor fillers initially surfaced 7 years ago on wax and has been long deleted on the format. It finally gets a digital release as a 3 track download which gathers the vocals and rhythms of the first lady of freaked out hip hop, a certain infamous rock band who just called it quits, the Bussa Bus and even a Toots tried & trusted classic all to be reworked with Beatvandals mash up treatment .It ultimately delivers a fun release that is basically a no brainer for a packed dancefloor.

Review: Duffstep's debut album Getting To Sirius was a pleasant surprise that nonchalantly straddled genres and was characterised by real warmth throughout. Here Join the Dots present a round of remixes from the album, with the main focus on "Your Touch". Merc boss Mark E leads the way with a typically sumptuous remix that's far too well produced to dismiss as mere nu-disco. Retaining the melodic warmth and horizontal feel of the original, Mr E adds his own, less gentle rhythmic leaning which lends proceedings a whole new sonic angle. My Best Friend overseer Riley Reinhold takes the track on a subaqueous house tip that gets better as it progresses. Session Victim opts for a deep and dubby version and young Melbournian Francis Inferno Orchestra delivers a shimmering, Sunday BBQ friendly refix. Loose Fit and Social Monster retweak "Love The Freak" and "My Kiss" respectively, rounding off a highly impressive remix package.

Review: Duffstep - the alias of Join The Dots owner Jeremy Duff - returns to the fore with part three of his remix EP series. His debut album Getting To Sirius clearly demonstrated the guy's versatility and creative flair; here he continues to join the dots between genres, bringing in Young Montana? for some loose rolling, Benji B style hip-hop vibes in his delectable remix of "Free"; Eliphino for classy, 2 step business that will find praise with all the Joy O, Ramadanman and Blake-ites out there, and last but not least FaltyDL for his own sprinkle of stripped back, uber cool magic in his re-work of "Tired".

Review: The Together EP is the first material to emerge from Jeremy Duffy's Duffstep alias since the release of his stellar debut album earlier this year, and it's something rather special. Positively drenched in shimmering Rhodes melody and buoyed up by pulsating synths, the title track is held "Together" by a tight broken beat rhythm. The track is joined by two remixes by similarly talented young producers; the first, from up and comer Youandewan takes the original into dubbier soundtrack territory, concentrating on atmospherics which shimmer like sheet metal, and a deep sub bass that recalls the early days of DMZ dubstep, while Background Sound utilises a clipped hi-hat rhythm to propel its deep sound forward, whilst accenting it with silky, echoing vocals and glittering textures.
