Review: Belgian producer Franco Cangelli is steadily building up a reputation for releasing music that combines the best of the past and the present - and Frantic is no exception. The warehouse beats of "Pressure" and "Deviate" both play host to arcing acid lines that are influenced by the bygone era of Chicago house, while the lithe, stripped back metallic techno on the title track references both the 303 and Detroit minimalism. However, the highlight on this release is "Fringe". There, Cangelli once again shows his passion for acidic squelches, but combines it this time with raw, hissing percussion and the kind of dreamy melodies last heard during B12 and the Black Dog's mid-90s heyday.
