Ilija Rudman At Juno Download

Review: After releasing his debut full-length on Bear Funk earlier this year, Croatian synth-disco specialist Ilija Rudman returns to ISM with two of his most interesting productions to date. "Crazy With You" - available in original, dub and lively Yam Who remix flavours - is arguably Rudman's most polished production yet, coming on like classic NYC boogie stripped back to its bare bones (think slap bass, Fairlight stabs, cowbells and a great vocal). "Let This Dream Be Real" continues on the same path, this time pushing a mid-80s soul vibe. It's similarly well produced and comes backed with a delicious nu-disco meets vaguely Balearic deep house remix from Disco Dirtbox.

Review: Deeplay Music boss man Martin Brodin launches his new MB Disco imprint with Croatian disco deity Ilija Rudman the object of some remix treatment on the inaugural release. Lifting Rudman's "See" from the Deeplay archives Brodin embellishes the track with a burning boogie strut, with overdubbed synth lines the melodic backdrop to filtered vocals and a chuggy beat. The ever mysterious Drop Out Orchestra opt for a more traditional NYC Disco flavour on their remix with low slung bass and rhythm licks in abundance amidst the glittering flourishes. With subsequent releases from the likes of Newcleus, Ray Mang and Giorgio Moroder on the horizon, Brodin's imprint is certainly one to look out for.

Review: For his debut album, Croatian producer Ilija Rudman has decided to further explore his love of early 80s synth disco, vintage electro, Balearica and electro-funk. When he's tried this before, his efforts have been hampered by the digital sheen of noughties nu-disco. Thankfully, The Reveal has no such issues. This time round, he's utilized all manner of vintage synthesizers and drum machines to produce a set that just bristles with original 80s flavour - it's a huge step forward. While he's previously promised much without consistently hitting the mark, The Reveal really delivers, flitting positively between slo-mo P-Funk jams, mid 80s piano grooves, "Nightdubbing" style instrumentals and dubbed-out electro workouts.

Review: Croatian uber producer Ilija Rudman returns to the ace London imprint Electric Minds with some heavyweight disco action evocative of 80s rollerboogie. The Croat has been on prolific form of late, releasing a constant stream of edits, remixes and original compositions under a number of guises. "Time And Time" comes in vocal and dub mixes - both versions retain the pounding 80s electro boogie bassline and typify Rudman's obsessive approach to analogue recording perfectly. The inclusion of some sultry diva vocals on the main mix just win it for us in the Juno office. Flip over for an impeccable dubbed out house re/rub from Michael J Collins of Wolf & Lamb fame which contains the mother of all ethereal breakdowns. A neat psychedelic take on proceedings from Collins makes for an accomplished release that will appeal to both house and disco jocks.

Review: Ilija Rudman continues his love affair with 80s disco with a dubbed out reworked version of Tafuri's 1989 Sleeping Bag house classic.This dub sticks with the repeated chorus rather than a full vocal, backed by a throbbing electronic bass and a smattering of percussion with light keyboard and dreamy synth touches.
