Review: Ital Tek joins the likes of Reso and Starkey and jumps to Civil with four brand new flavours - each one as sparkling, uplifting and rhythmically complex as his ace body of work on Planet Mu. Sonically smelting the best aspects of juke, dubstep, techno and good old fashioned electronica, each moment on "Hyper Real" is an urgent call to the dancefloor while giving your mind plenty to chew on: "Hyper Real" reaches for the sun without any protective clothing whatsoever, "Re Entry" is more somnambulant shuffle that gets interrupted by a massive classic electro bass riff. "The Flood" looks to Detroit for inspiration while "Froze Up" takes a techno tablet. Let's get real now people; hyper real!

Review: Following on from his debut artist album Cyclical in 2008, Brighton based producer, Ital Tek brings us his sophomore outing, Midnight Colour on the highly respected Planet Mu imprint. Kicking off with "Neon Arc" - a deliciously fuzzy broody number, with a nod to the Joker-style 'Bristol Sound' in the synths - it's a promising start to what soon unfolds into a magnificent album. Moving through the melodic, reflective Mount Kimbie style "Talis" with its evocatively drawn dripping and chiming, and hollow textured soundscape, to the more abrasive "Moonbow" and "Babylon", it's easy to see why Ital Tek has garnered such a reputation for himself in such a short time. Midnight Colour picks up on the sound that has come to define Ital Tek, taking the whole 'post-dubstep' tip to new lengths, weaving 2-stepping garage rhythms round sonic textures with plenty of moody atmospheric melancholy.

Review: Ital Tek certainly doesn't mess about. After the release of his second long player Midnight Colour earlier this month, he returns with the Moment In Blue EP. The title track gets the VIP treatment plus remixes from Hyperdub's hottest, and latest, signing, Ikonika, as well as Falty DL. Ikonika's interpretation sees her signature melodic sound imparted on the original to great effect; think thumping bass, sweetly scented atmospherics and infectious groove. Falty DL, on the other hand, strips it all back to the bare essentials creating a soothing, pared down cut with laidback aplomb and decisive minimalism. Dividing the two remixes is "Crush Horizon", with gently warping synth sounds, a buzzing b-line driving it along, with melodic flourishes and a smooth, polished feel. The aforementioned VIP version of "Moment In Blue" is a heavier, chunkier re-fix than the rest, and the EP finishes up with the pulsating hip-hop tempo and click-clop-bleep pattern of "Infinity", replete with anguished vocal snatches and smatterings of horns.

Review: Brighton-based synth-step explorer Alan Myson is nothing if not prolific; Nebula Dance is his third full-length in five years. Like previous excursions, Nebula Dance sees him attempting to join the dots between dubstep rhythms, synth-wave melodies, clattering IDM grooves and the shimmering sweeps of classic electronica. It's a sound dripping with positivity, and the result is an album that somehow manages to sound both self-consciously grandiose and impressively intimate. Tracks like "Intercruise" and "Glokk" bristle with retina-sharp melodies and glistening electronics, all atop rhythms that are seemingly pulling you in different directions. It's a delicious combination, that's for sure.

Review: This remix EP for Ital Tek is a real mixed bag. His own VIP of "Whip It Up" sees Boxcutter lend his bass playing and synth delights to a junglist update of the original. Young Montana take to "Particle Zoo" with the fever of a hyped-up footworker, while Bayou serves up a housey version of "War Of The Ants". Blue Daisy employs his broken beat psychedelia on "Skyline" while Om Unit rolls out a mean swagger over "War Of The Ants". If these remixes reflect where Ital Tek's inspiration is at right now, then it'll be fascinating to see where his future productions take him.
