James Kameran delivers new interpretations on established tropes on Das Ket. The title track is a clicky minimal groove but rather than plodding it rolls with an intensity as chugging, hissing percussion and insistent chords build and build. The fact that Kameran adds a vocal that seems to be intoning the phrase 'black gnome' makes it all the more alluring. "Die Rumplehammer" also borrows from existing tracks and its rolling bass and filtered percussion sound similar to Masa's killer tech-house track "Basscharger", released over a decade ago on the now defunct Groovetech label. But with repeated plays it becomes clear that the acid crescendos and heavy sub-bass is all of Kameran's own making.
