Review: This is something to really get excited about, not just for trance and progressive heads but for electronic music fans regardless of genre.
The second full length album from one of the true greats as John 00 Flemming showcases the full spectrum of his styles and influences, career defining is quite a statement.. but seems more than fitting on this occasion. There is an experimental flair to the 12 tracks, of course in routed trance but doing so much more than that. With recording sessions at Abbey Road on strings and pianos and his psy acid lines meeting raw acoustic elements, it's a roller-coaster ride and attack on the senses. Review: John 00 Flemming and his acclaimed JOOF label have been at the forefront of psy and cutting-edge-progressive for many years, and undoubtedly remain the UKs leading export of these sub genres. His latest release is a two tracker, with both delivering the goods, with the deep and dark 'The Fires of Chameleon' leading the charge with a unique twisted progressive vibe that will work on the underground floors, while 'Mustang' pitches up the tempo and rolls with a much more energetic psy flair on the b-side.. Review: We are due a brand new (much anticipated) album from the JOOF head honcho imminently, and this latest single is a teaser of what's to come. The dark and twisted sounds of 'WKO' are very much the trademark sound of 00 Flemming, keeping that psy trance energy on the rolling bottom end, and flash fills heightening throughout, there is an eerie vocal thrown in to keep plenty of interest and build atmosphere. Where this really triumphs, is the remix from Cosmithex which carries more floor appeal across a wider spectrum of styles, with an airier and more uplifting delivery. That's not to say the main mans doesn't kick it, just on a more underground level.. Which we love him for!
