John Roman At Juno Download

Review: This "Twin Turbo" series has been a force to be reckoned within techno this year. And with John Roman on board, its consistency is in very safe hands. With previous on labels such as Lektroluv and Plant Music, his pedigree is already proven and this nifty trio of grooves should take him to another level again. We kick off with "St Hood", a clicky, loopy number that's broken up sweetly with a haunting choral vocal. The title track follows and, as the name suggests, it's a bit of a scarier affair with deep throbbing subs a great looped vocal and a rolling percussive rhythm that Dubfire enjoys so much. "Chimaera" finishes the set with equal menace thanks to some booming stop/start kicks and a spatial arrangement that was designed specifically for massive rooms. Roll on Twin Turbo 011.

Review: Out on Techhead, US producer Roman Zawodny brings us an unrelenting, powerhouse techno monster that goes by the name "Urban Tool". With an industrial feel, the track pounds away throughout its entirety. Remixes come from Virgil Enzinger, Sinisa Tamamovic and John Karagiannis & Paylipservice, whose jolting strut of a rework is the standout effort on this EP.
