Kashii At Juno Download

Review: Thanks to the likes of Disclosure, that classic breezy deep house sound is well and truly back on the playlist (although to many it never actually went away!). Kashii have nailed the vibe right here with both "Vis Major" and "Going Nowhere" both drenched in that stylish and stripped back mid 90s Smoove groove. Meanwhile on the title track we're treated to something a lot darker. "Ciano" carries very similar retro sound schemes but the groove itself is whole lot more minimal and tribal. Heads down please.

Review: Recently signed to the Madtech label, 22-year old producer Kashii fuses ghetto rhythms with a classic house sound on "Rome" - the excellent title song from this new EP. Alongside it, "Make This" is a smoother yet still banging mix of dubby kicks and retro hardcore stabs arranged into a locked and jacking house groove. On a more militant and grimy tangent, "Rome" gets a makeover by South London Ordnance while Lakosa adds some deep and moody textures to "Make This".
