On listening to Kid Suda's debut release on Raw Format, it's obvious that his music cribs from many influences, but few debuts that do manage to be quite as assured as this. "Ever Love Shone" is cloaked in the influence of dub, taking trumpet notes and half-heard vocal snippets and combining it with a half-stepping rhythm that takes a dubstep template and does wild things with it, whilst "Bloodshot" takes the energy and percussion of UK funky, complete with rapid, cut-up vocal hooks and combines them with a moody low end. If you're tired of UKF and dubstep that doesn't seem to have the required bite, then this EP is well worth checking out.
