Review:
After the inescapable impact of her Quarantine LP on Hyperdub earlier in 2012, Laurel Halo returns to Kode 9's stable with a new track and it's accompanying dub version, and it's an interesting progression on from the fractured beauty of the preceding album. "Sunlight On The Faded" employs electronica elements in a way reminiscent of experimental folk acts such as Mum and Efterklang, as razor-sharp and twice-as-rapid microcosms of breakbeats and glitch dart around in a bigger picture of emotive pop charm. Halo's vocal is as delicate as ever, but the context of such developed production suggests ever-increasing possibilities for where she might head next. The dub of the original only emphasises this point with the spotlight thrown on those aforementioned glitch elements so they can shine in all their jagged glory.
