Review:
Lee Fields made something of a splash with his comeback album My World released on Truth & Soul a few years ago, and here again he teams up with his backing band The Expressions to release another album of masterful soul. Everything, from the artwork that looks like an old 70s 12", to the dusty production and tortured vocal delivery feels like its come perfectly preserved out of a time capsule, with the yearning vocals of "I Still Got It" and "Its All Over (But The Crying)" staNding out for particular praise.

Review:
Released a couple of years ago, this excellent album saw veteran funk-man Lee Fields return to the fray thanks to nu-funk nabob Leon "El" Michaels and his bandmates who recorded the smoking Stax-meets-Muscle Shoals backings for the record. Now the musicianship can be closely appreciated again thanks to this all instrumental reissue from Truth & Soul. The rich and authentic instrumentation - distant-mic'd strings, Steve Cropper guitar licks, fatback drums and the heavenly Hammonds - all carry this vocalless album along nicely, making it a very worthwhile second bite of the cherry.
