Whitney (Jus Some Shit) - (4:59) 130 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release

Review: All that time conversing with the likes of Marcus Mixx and DJ Stingray must have rubbed off on Unknown To The Unknown's DJ Haus. Despite his Hot City project (alongside Ben Keen) being known for its bass-heavy 2-step productions, this EP, in collaboration with the LA/Montreal pair LOL Boys, consists of a pair of tweaking acid-house jackers. The title track opens with a flurry of swung 808 kicks and neon stabs, before giving way to a rough and ready 303 line, with the rhythm straightened out in the second half into a tough 4/4 house rhythm. "Whitney (Jus Some Shit)" is another winning piece of Chicago inspired house, with a gnarled bassline, driven by furious cowbells and detuned ghetto vocal samples, all with a grimy undercurrent that keeps its feet firmly entrenched in the underground of contemporary London club music. If you're worried that the new direction will cause some of Hot Ciy and LOL Boys energy to be lost in translation, don't be - this is some their best output to date.

Review: Juno Plus Ones To Watch alumni LOL Boys come good on their early promise with this superb EP/remix package on Palms Out Sounds. The duo, who met and maintain their relationship via the internet, open proceedings with the jagged rhythms and raw drums of "Heartbreak", which moves nicely into the sombre tones of "Jealousy". The eastern twangy melodies and raw drum hits mark "Spirals" out as a highlight, while "Cloudy" and the excellent "LDR" complete the selection of original tunes. Remix action comes from NGUZUNGUZU, Jim-E Stack, Marcus Price and Nadus!

Review: The electro duo who met and maintain their relationship via the internet are back with a self-titled EP from blog-cum-label Discobelle. Their warped and wonderful tropical-electro skills are here in force - on the blunt arpeggios of "Blockz" for example, or the grimey, barren spank of "Intuition", However, following on from their multi-tempoed April Fools mini-mix of few weeks ago, they've also been experimenting with slower moods. Check out the bustling stomp of "Runaways" for example, or the excellent reggaeton/moombahton glitch of "Aisle Seat" - our pick of the bunch here.

Review: Having previously impressed with his left-of-centre Friends of Friends imprint, Leeor Brown has teamed up with LA pal David Fisher to launch Young Adults, a new label dedicated to the fluid sounds currently coming out of the disco and house scenes. This first label sampler sets their stall out impressively. Starting with the brilliant "Jus Us" by LA's own Suzanne Kraft - a Paul Simpson style proto-house jam with a deliciously old skool vocal - the EP works through a variety of comfy, touchy-feely flavas. There's a dash of loopy deep house goodness from Dead Rose Music Company, some lush, cowbell-driven vocal deepness from Urulu and a touch of retro-futurist acid goodness from LOL Boys and Grown Folk. Recommended.
