Review:
Good ol' Lynx brings in the funk once again in his cracking Chess Funk EP. The title track - as featured on Marky's fabriclive mix - is a warm, atmospheric slice of cool-as-a-cucumber D&B, marking the fourth release on his very own Detail imprint. Delicate keys and subtle guitar ditties toy with a rolling b-line and light, percussive breaks. Next up, "The Foundry" continues the journey with shimmying SFX, rippling b-line, Metalheadz style instrumental synth lines and delicate textures - one for the bass heads. "Nautical Coma" is a more contemplative cut with a touch of Rockwell and leads into grand finale, "For The Rebels", which strips things back even more with creeping harp strings and a discernable Soul:r flavour. Truly sublime.

Review:
Detail owner Lynx has been on fire of late, with cuts like "Chess Funk" really cutting the mustard. Here he steps up with a brand new six track EP, featuring title track "Dirty Red" (+ dubstep refix), soulful roller "5am Soul City" featuring Spikey Tee, the ominous "You Are Being Lied To" featuring long term collaboration MC Kemo and two versions of "Spectre". A lovely DBridge- sounding intro with glitchy SFX dominates the eponymous track of the EP, before the hazy musings of "5am Soul City" kick in. This is brusquely interrupted by the fast paced, smacking beats and zeitgeist lyrics of Kemo, as featured on Zero T's Fabriclive 52 mix, before we move on to more mellow utterances.

Review:
The ever-talented and ever-prolific London based producer Lynx steps up with his next release on Presha's Samurai Red Seal imprint. And we're in for a treat, ladies and gentlemen. An epic, cinematic intro gets "March Of The Living" off to a dramatic and grandiose start, with powerful strings and clicking beats. Moving into the main tune, and the sounds get sparse, with syncopated, stuttering drums and the morose instrumentals swaying in the background. "Rankoor" is a heavy, experimental cut with humming sub bass, snapping clicks and snares and plenty of ominous energy lurking below the surface.

Review:
London based Drum and Bass type Lynx comes up trumps with the latest release on Marcus Intalex's much revered Soul:R label. A must check EP from the off, the title track "Balloons" sets the tone, building from an intro only populated by buzzing SFX and ticking beats, going up and up like a helium filled balloon, almost effervescing into the drop where it develops into a sublime little outing with typical Lynx like moving bassline and sparse, ticking beats, experimental and edgy. This one's for the forward-thinking types. Given the epic nature of "Balloons" it's little surprise Lynx elects something a bit different on "Passing Time", a quirky cut whose sombre intro develops into something quite dramatic, pairing off cooing vox with pattering breaks.

Review:
The Midnight Funk Association might have an influx of new members signing up after this EP hits home. Bringing his trademark bouncy basslines to a plethora of fresh, dancefloor-driven beats, the EP kicks off with its title track. Not wasting any time, Detail Records boss Lynx ramps up his sample-digging powers from the start. Following up with "Micro", firmer techy territory is explored, with industrial sounds and an irresistible dancehall beat that pounds like a jack-hammer until a dubby breakdown messes with your head. "Bobby Says" is a vintage horror movie soundtrack updated with jazzy breaks and Bobby Esmond's haunting rhymes tannoyed in from somewhere above the dry ice. Finally, "I Want You To Remember" is a straight-up frightfest, destined to spook late night ravers and scare the crap out of the headphone crew on the nightbus home. Lynx as you know him best, an original soundscaper.
739MB of effect-drenched guitars, huge atmospheric soundscapes, otherworldly basslines, punchy drum loops, twisted SFX, cinematic music loops & powerful multi-sampled instruments
